I ask think one of the better moments of Tangled is that Flynn and Rapunzel’s best moments are very quiet. When Rapunzel is discovering the world, when Flynn watches Rapunzel’s Jaír being done by the three girls, “I See the Light”. All of these moments work because even if there is stuff going on in the background, we are focused on these two characters’ bond growing. And any moments of plot development such as mother go them finding the stabbington brothers and Flynn “leaving” Rapunzel happen outside of those quiet moments, allowing us to both enjoy the film as a whole, and as different portions in equal measure. Kristoff and Anna don’t have these quiet moments, every opportunity for us as the audience to witness their bond growing is outweighed somehow. Olaf being introduced, being kicked out of Elsa’s castle, sacrificing herself for her sister. There is no moment where we can tune out everything else and just focus on the love that is building between the two characters. So yeah thank you for coming to my Ted talk
That moment with the lanterns where Rapunzel slows down for a moment to lean against the prow of the ship and seems to sigh with some degree of contentment and satisfaction. It's nice but it's also particularly nice next to the usual frenetic energy of the main characters in most Disney films which tends to run towards the exhausting.
That is a very good point. We don’t ever get to see Kristoff and Anna fall for each other, we are just expected to understand they do and in the second movie, the natural next step is engagement and all of the sudden Kristoff is showing he is madly in love with her

Mynameisme think about the plot. How many things in frozen we’re just unnecessary for forwarding the plot. Think of the trolls. That could be gone and the movie would be the same. Where in the world does it come from where a true loves kiss will save her. In tangled everything is cohesive and a great story. My opinion 😂
I absolutely loved Tangled!!! It"s my all-time favorite Disney movie, and have said it's way better than Frozen. The main characters are more likeable, it has a better story and it's more funny. I loved the humor in Tangled! My only regret is that I didn't see Tangled in 3D to experience its full effects in the lantern scene on I See The Light. I bought the video Blu-ray 3D, but don't have a 3D TV, unfortunately.
Someone posted this on a reddit post about the two movies. I'd like an opinion on if it's accurate. It's pretty long. Frozen absolutely nailed the pacing. It's not just the music, which is fantastic - it's also how the musical numbers are placed throughout the film to draw in and engage the viewer. It's almost hypnotic to children - we could always watch Frozen with my kids even when the youngest was only a year old, but she wouldn't sit through Tangled until she was old enough to understand and follow the plot. Adults like to pretend that stuff doesn't have an effect on us, but it does. Frozen starts off like The Lion King - another of Disney's greatest films - with an instantly recognizable banger of a musical chant, which introduces the setting of the film and anchors the story in a very strong sense of place. Tangled starts off with six minutes of voiceover explaining the backstory followed by a song about how boring Rapunzel's life is. I like Tangled just fine, but the pacing is very uneven and it makes for a less engaging experience. Frozen also hits early and hard with the drama. The accident with Anna and rushing her to the trolls for help. The foreshadowing of the danger which sets up the parents' motivation for hiding Elsa away. It's just much more urgent and effectively told than the story of Gothel finding the flower and kidnapping the princess. You say that Tangled is more "focused" but in fact it's less focused. Frozen focuses tightly on a single storyline, in the sense that all of the action we see in the movie flows from the same source: Elsa's childhood trauma and the family's attempt to deal with it and hide Elsa's powers. Whereas Tangled is a collision of two separate stories: Rapunzel and Gothel (which gives us backstory one, narrated in voiceover at the beginning of the movie) and Eugene's theft and flight (giving us backstory two). These stories collide by accident (fate?). Then also by accident Gothel meets Eugene's former associates - there's a lot of coincidence and contrivance to drive the plot forward. And it's fine - I mean, it's entertaining - but it's not nearly as focused as Frozen's story: Elsa harms Anna, therefore Elsa shuts Anna out, therefore Anna is a shut-in who falls for the first stranger who talks to her, therefore Elsa freaks out, therefore Elsa flees, therefore Anna goes to find her, therefore Anna meets Kristoff and Olaf and gets re-Frozen, etc. etc. etc. - all of the action and conflict in the story flowing logically and inexorably from the same source. The fact that Frozen is driven forward by a single unified chain of events and consequences makes the movie very engaging and in my opinion it also heightens the drama, because you get the feeling that everything is happening because of character choices, rather than coincidences and accidents. It means that the choices the characters make end up having more weight and higher stakes. Then there are the "love" songs. Rapunzel and Eugene get "I see the light", which is... fine. It's slow. It's kind of a boring scene. It ends badly with Eugene seeing his ex-partners and then lying to Rapunzel about it and running off, which is an overused and toxic trope in Disney movies. Anna and Kristoff get "Fixer Upper", which is an absolute banger and also thematically on point for the movie as a whole: "people make bad choices when they're mad or scared or stressed, but throw a little love their way and you'll bring out their best". It ends with Kristoff doing the right thing and bringing Anna to someone who he thinks can save her. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both movies. But Frozen has better songs, which are used more effectively. It's got a tighter story which is paced better and has more dramatic weight. It has several effective twists, and I don't think the fact that the Hans twist was not telegraphed is a negative. The fact that it wasn't True Love's Kiss that saved Anna, but her act of sacrifice for her sister, is an incredible subversion of prior Disney tropes and a powerful statement about what love really is. And that brings me to the final point. Gothel is fine as a villain. Perfectly serviceable. She's an evil manipulative passive aggressive sociopath. She has a great villain song. But she's also very conventional. "I'm the villain, here's the bad thing I want to do, here's how far I'll go to get what I want". Throw her out the window at the end of the movie and all is well. In Frozen, the villain is fear. Grandpa Troll basically says it all the way back in the beginning of the movie. Fear will make you push away the people you love. Fear will make you isolate yourself where no one can hurt you - and where you can't hurt them. This fear is what we need to fight the most, and the only way to beat it is to love boldly and bravely. That is f*cking epic. Like I said, I like both movies. I'd watch either one right now. But Frozen is justifiably more popular with critics and audiences - it's just a better film, all around, by pretty much every metric. Tangled is good. Maybe even great. But Frozen is a masterpiece.
Fun Fact about Tangled: This movie was one of the hardest movies for Disney to ever make as Tangled was the first movie they made with computer-generation technology and the movie was barely finished before its release date so they had to get a person to help with the movie, especially with the hair physics that goes into the movie. They had just managed to finish the movie before its release date and it came out spectacular. If you look up the Behind The Scenes, you'll see how much was unfinished and how they did all the animation with the hair and lanterns.
Yeah , and when you talk about Frozen : Besides all the crappy content , it was already an adaptation of the The Snow Queen , so there wasn't any original effort to even begin with. And yet with all the wasted quality animation , this is what they finally came up with.

I've heard this before. The difficulties they faced is actually why Tangled's budget was so high. Apparently, Disney had to spend a lot to get the studio the things they needed. This is reflected in Frozen's relatively low budget three years later as the cost was already acquired during Tangled.

in frozen 2 they reused maximus’ noises for the water spirit and pascal’s noises for the fire spirit. they also reused and touched up some animation from tangled when rapunzel meets her parents and makes a sublimely happy face in frozen 2 when elsa is singing “show yourself” which is further proof that tangled is better lol
I love Tangled mainly because it somehow able to give that shiver and warm feeling. The characters development are great, the storyline is awesome and the comedy are insanely hilarious (Like Pascal and Max. For me I mostly enjoy when Eugene and Cass are roasting each other in the series). The songs are just ear catching (I see the lights, when will my life began, I've got a dream, mother knows best, The Series: NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE, let me make you proud, ready as I'll ever be, waiting in the wings, wind in my hair, more in me, etc) One song that really is different though for me is the Kingdom Dance. Although it didn't have lyrics but the tune of it just brings back the nostalgic feeling that I somehow couldn't explain. Plus point to Tangled: Varian and Cass (and Lance and Red and Angry) Oh yeah and keep Varian and Cass and everything will be fine. At least that's what I learn 😂😂 But then again we all had our own opinions (so don't come at me) I don't say I hate Frozen. I like Frozen but I like Tangled more. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
I don't agree with OST. Soundtrack in Tangled is better. In every single way. Songs in Tangled is right where they're belong in the movie. I mean the timing. And the songs just better. When will my life begin, mother knows best, I've got a dream and of course I SEE THE LIGHT. All this songs are perfect. What do we have in Frozen? Of course, Let it Go is a super song. No comments. But... it's only in the begining...Then we got some random not catchy songs. No culmination. (And the snowman song is good too) And that's it. Tangled is better even in the soundtrack
I kinda like "I've got a Dream" better than "Let it Go". And I've listened to "Ready as I'll ever be" for a week straight now, if we throw the animated show in there too.
Agreed, Let It Go is definitely a banger, and easily the top song between both films, but the reality is that many of the tracks in Frozen are kind of duds. So while Let It Go reaches really high and others are good and solid, the song by the trolls...exists. Balanced out.
I agree, I find that character development is one of the most important parts of story telling, and it is simply so much stronger and compelling in Tangled than in Frozen
I love Tangled more than Frozen 1 for the characters, the development of the protagonists, and how it really dives to the fear and courage that Rapunzel goes through. It is way more fleshed out than Elsa's fear then random realization that loves drives away fear. Yes, Olaf's love was completely ignored. His words were the sweetest out of all the script in the movie.
literally watched frozen AND tangled just last night for the heck of it (aka to maximize my disney plus free week). Frozen was first : what a damn chore to get through. weak, mostly bland to look at (blue/white boring looking snow environments), TERRIBLE comic relief, character motivations that make no sense, an alive snowman that makes no sense, "action scenes" that come completely out of nowhere just to have an action scene, REALLY shitty sounding songs except let it go, which I would still argue is badly produced, but i guess has a catchy melody. All the rest of the songs are SO bad! Then tangled, even though it's older and maybe the textures and rendering aren't AS good as frozen, the art direction and animation are WAY, WAY better. It's GORGEOUS. The story makes sense and flows along well, great pacing, all the character motivations actually make sense, the songs aren't lame midi-sounding pop bullshit, the comic relief is actually hilarious. And god the character and FACIAL animation is INCREDIBLE! It's just no contest!
The animation in Rapunzel's hair, was just beautiful. They had to spend so much time animating Rapunzel's hair. Especially for that time it was just gorgeous. My dad is a computer game designer, and teaches video game design with animation. He always uses the animation in Tangled with Rapunzel's hair to show good animation. Also Rapunzel's wasn't really saved by Flynn/ Eugene. She had to save him in the end. But there relationship in the movie and how much it grows was just so well done. Tangled has always been one of my favorite Disney movies. I honestly feel that Tangled is underrated. Just like the animated series for Tangled. Which is just so well done and if you haven't watched it I would recommend you do cause it's just amazing!
i could type out an essay on its musical excellence depicting the one of a kind rock influenced style of when will my life begin, the heart lifting combination of various styles of classical folk music in Kingdom dance and the immense story-telling capacity of i see the light,another essay on the relationship dynamic of the couple reflecting upon the charecter devolopment of Eugene and another essay based on gaslighting and similiar issues that Rapunzel has faced but i guess that would be too much.
I completely disagree: Tangled's songs are WAY better than anything in Frozen or Frozen II. You kidding!? They're fun, central to the plot, and one is very different from the next... I just don't understand how people think anymore, jeez.
I gotta say, I haven't even seen Frozen 2, but Into the Unknown is one of my favorite Disney songs even before I See the Light or Mother Knows Best or anything from Tangled.
And I’m not sure if it counts, but the Tangled series’ songs are even better. They’re memorable and greatly performed. I mean, Ready as I’ll Ever Be, Crossing the Line and Nothing Left to Loose are some of Disney’s best songs

Imo tangled characters are all recycled except Flynn and Mother Gothel but frozen's are more exciting and refreshing Anna's a lot like Rapunzel but she is a bit more fleshed out.

Rapunzel literally figured out all on her own that she was the lost princess and “mother” was not her real mother and nothing more than a big fat liar. Anna while isolated at least had professional tutors to educate her and knew a lot more things than Rapunzel. Rapunzel is yes a bit naive, but that’s not her fault, considering she learned a TON of crafts on her own, seeing she only had 3 books and it’s confirmed Gothel was hardly ever at home, and was her only source of information
I agree with pretty much everything you said. It's flabbergasting that Frozen is more popular than Tangled. Tangled is WAY better. Once when Frozen came out, everyone just forgot about Tangled which makes me sad. Tangled is so underrated. Maybe it's not quite up there with The Little Mermaid or Beauty & the Beast but in terms of the Disney movies that came out in the last 10+ years, Tangled is easily one of the better ones.

Agreed. Frozen has a great first act, with three great songs right after another, but after Let It Go, I usually just switch it off. The rest of the movie is just filler. Tangled though, keeps my interest all the way through. The best song is at the end of the second act, and the third act is both quick, and well constructed. And for the record, the shocking plot twist of Frozen makes less and less sense the more you think about it, but the shocking plot twist of Tangled is so perfect in hindsight that you can't imagine the film ending any other way.
My main problem with Frozen is that Elsa sings "Let It Go" as if she no longer cares about anything else and will embrace her powers... But then does nothing. I'm not even sure Frozen has the best music. Nothing in Frozen competes with Mother Knows Best.
You should listen to the soundtrack of the Tangled series if you haven’t already. They have songs that compare to Let it Go and defying gravity but with so much more meaning, character, and heart behind them.

And let's not forget the "sequel" materials. Tangled The Series Vs. Frozen 2. The music of TTS is just, AMAZING, beautiful and so meaningful, and yeah, F2 had some good songs, Into The Unknown was good, and there are others good ones, but I seriously can't remember them🤣 and as for the new characters introduced, in my opinion, there's a few lesser versions of Tangled characters, such as the water horse, and the fire lizard. Plus, there's all the new villains of TTS, the character arcs, (a bit biased here) Varian is just wonderful, and his relationship with Rapunzel and Eugene is so sweet, especially in the third season. So that's basically just my randomly put together rant 🙃
One of the coolest and most creative animation decisions was having the lanterns reflect in the water in a way that makes it look like Flynn and Rapunzel are in the sky. Tangled has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, so I like hearing your take!
Amen, I've been saying this forever. Tangled excels in just about every way a Disney movie can (story, soundtrack, animation, humour, romance, villain). It genuinely baffles me that Frozen is more popular.
Tangled is much better written, but I like the general concept of Frozen more. I also prefer Frozen's songs, and the wintry atmosphere. I know it's not popular (among adults), to prefer Frozen to Tangled, but I still like Frozen more.
Tangled and Frozen are just equal Frozen has a sequal Frozen II and Tangled also has a sequal and even a series Tangled before ever after TTS and Tangled ever after,They are just both best
Frozen's villain was a stupid plot twist. While Tangled's villain was NOT a plot twist. And plus, the villain off of Tangled we all knew was the villain when they first got into the picture. Also, the villain off of Tangled was one of the few Disney villains that were more realistic if you will. (old folks that try to look young forever)
I think that the point of unfreezing your heart was that it’s YOU who has to commit an act of true love. That’s why it works when Anna sacrifices herself. The "true love’s kiss" was just a tropey conjecture on the characters’ part.
To be honest I think disney knows exactly what they're doing. I think they know frozen is not good but due to various elements of it that it would be a cash cow because it would win over a VERY young audience (much younger than the target audience for tangled by a few years I think).
I agree! TBH Frozen’s cast is the dumber version of Tangled, looking at you Sven vs Maximus and Anna vs Rapunzel, and Kristoff doesn’t even come close to Flynn’s level. Olaf as well if anything tended to be a bit annoying at times because he never shuts up. The song In Summer honestly is skippable, as well as Fixer Upper, like seriously, a bunch of trolls who only appeared once are back and they don’t really have any significance aside curing Anna and (this I believe) made Hans evil so she’d get with Kristoff, considering they literally tried marrying them right there even when Kristoff shouted at them “We aren’t a couple! She’s already engaged to somebody else ok?” Not to mention even in the sequel Anna is so paranoid around Kristoff and they even got separated! I don’t care if she was concerned about Elsa’s safety (when Anna almost died several times in the original) she had very poor communication with Kristoff. No wonder they didn’t show their wedding in the end, which I’m kinda surprised. Tangled>Frozen

I feel like one of the reasons people like Frozen better is because it’s an original idea. I mean, everyone’s heard of the story of Rapunzel for the most part and people kind of knew what to expect while watching the movie, definitely not everything but still, and while watching Frozen it was definitely a new and fresh idea and people didn’t know what to expect. So that’s one reason, although even if the story of Tangled wasn’t completely new, it was still a better plot than Frozen in my opinion. Another reason is that little kids don’t even care about what the plot is, they just care about a character with superpowers(Elsa) or a funny character(Olaf) or just a Princess (Anna) and obviously kids think that the Frozen soundtrack is better, even though Tangled has good songs like “I see the light”, I don’t think kids are gonna love super romantic songs or whatever, and they’d rather listen to a song with a character who has superpowers and builds an ice castle. I’m just saying that’s what kids like and kids or 95% of the reason Frozen made all the money they did. I still like Tangled though I’m just saying.
Kids like Frozen because it doesn't only focus on romantic love but also sisterly love and the love of family, and I was really tired seeing romantic love stories from Disney, that's why I love Frozen and Elsa.
Frozen 2 didnt even make much sense to me tbh. I wasnt a fan of the "spirit" part of it, and their journey was kinda..ehh. It's just kinda off that Kristoff was just there, Olaf just tags along and dies and then alive again, Elsa didnt learn her lesson from the first movie where she shouldnt do things herself anymore, and I just feel bad for Anna. It wasnt a bad movie, it just felt lacking. There were parts that couldve been better. I dont hate it, but i prefer the first movie over the second one. (Tangled is above there ofc)
No need! There already is the spin off series called tangled the series! It's absolutely pronominal! The story, characters, plot and music is so beautifully crafted that it sucks you into its world! But let me tell you this... It gets dark... *Really dark.* Real life situations occur and you see these characters as more than characters... But like actual breathing human beings. Complex, unique, different and talented in their own ways! Give the show a shot! You will *not* be disappointed! :D

Comparing these two movies is absolutely wrong!! They are a lot different from each other. People who are bent on proving their point that tangled is better than frozen, they are more into rom-com kinda stuff. But Frozen is a masterpiece! People don't get it but it sure is!! Frozen focusses on a lot deeper aspects like fear, love for yourself, accepting yourself the way you are, standing by the people you care about no matter what. People compare Flyn and Rupenzel to Christoph and Anna. I mean why? Flyn and Rupenzel are obviously better because that's what they were meant to be! Tangled had their love as a main theme. But Frozen never tried to lay a hand on Romantic love, it tells us about the love between two sisters, familia love, which is beautiful in its own unique way! Both the movies are beautiful in their own way. I love Tangled too.....but Frozen broke all stereotypes of previous Disney movies by making it so deep! Tangled is about a princess who sets on an adventure with a charming young man and amidst all ups and downs, falls in love and finds her real family. Frozen is about two sisters, one born with magic and one without magic. Elsa has trouble accepting her difference from others. How fear pushes her away from her own sister, and how it makes the situation terrible. Anna's love for her sister almost pushes her towards death but even then she saves her! Risking her own life!
You should watch the Tangled series!! It does a lot of things that Frozen does but a LOT better. There are a lot of parallels but I won’t spoil them all. One that’s kind of funny is with Eugene and Kristoff both wanting to propose, but Eugene has more development with it and a character outside of being in love with Raps. Both Frozen 2 and Tangled the series also introduce new characters who are supposed to be friends with the protagonists. In Frozen they are incredibly forgettable and add nothing to the plot, while the series offers mind blowing side characters that have become fan favorites. I get what you’re saying though! And each to their own, the movies in and of themselves are both different and they’re both pretty great for their own reasons.

But here we're talking about a movie, so I don't think comparing it with a long running series is fair. It's same as comparing a book with a movie.

I think one thing that would be a fair comparison is how the characters react to their previous experiences. In Tangled, it’s clear that the events of the first movie has had dramatic effects on all of the characters who were in the first movie. Rapunzel and her dad especially were shown dealing with their trauma from what happened. Meanwhile in the sequel to Frozen, it seems like the characters completely forgot what happened and go through the same problems they had in the first movie lol
Tangled is underrated because it’s more of a teen/young adult movie. Those sappy American moms wouldn’t let their kids see Eugene getting STABBED ON SCREEN and the fact that they animated BLOOD on his wound TWICE. Frozen is more kid friendly and it managed to appeal to older audiences simultaneously.
Romance as well. Flynn and Rapunzel clearly love each other and you could see them falling for each other through out the movie. It’s very cute. Then there’s Anna and Kristoff. Most of their relationship is just Flynn and Rapunzel part 2. Also, I don’t think they planned it like this, but Kristoff apparently doesn’t truly love her. You’d think him risking his life to save her would be an act of true love, but *sisters*. Booooring. I love my sister and it’s alright to have a change, but I’d rather the romance. Hell, they could do both. It would have been a better idea if they had Elsa be the villain at least in the 1st one. Hans being the villain was so rushed, that the only thing that makes sense is that the trolls were manipulating him (it IS set in a Nordic country and trolls aren’t good in Norse mythology). Mother Gothel is legendary. She’s not as scary as Lady Tremaine, but she’s up there. I think that the more realistic a villain, the scarier they are.
I've watched Tangled in the theaters in 3D three or four times with different sets of friends and family and bought the home video. No kidding, I would rush to the theater again to watch it in 3D again. The visuals are beautiful but the story, the characters and the music elevate this movie above so many others. I've seen bits and pieces of Frozen on youtube but none of it excites me the way Tangled has.
Tangled is better than frozen cause it has Flynn Rider lol I love tangled because the lantern scene is so heartwarming and Relaxing Every scene between Eugene and Rapunzel is too good
I agree! All the characters rocked! But Flynn for sure is one of the best Disney characters ever, not just prince or male. Move over Peter Pan or other iconic characters. I’m not kidding boy was I ever so relieved and happy when I learned originally Kristoff’s design was going to be used in Tangled, but they chose to use it in Frozen instead (which is so much worse) I find it even funnier when Tangled was being made they actually had hot guy meetings just for Flynn’s design 😂 He was literally made to be the sexiest and hottest Disney prince ever and oh man did they ever get it absolutely right!
In the series it's just proves that Rapunzel is stronger than Elsa. And the movie is just so much better. The villian (Gothel) can represent real people that are controlling and manipulative. And Rapunzel was strong and innocent. I like Frozen but I think the only reason it did well is because of Olaf

Character depth: a Tangled strong point e.g. Gothel v/s Snow White's or Cinderella's matriarchs - or Cruella De Vil! Mega-manipulative, Gothel still shows care enough to get paints for Rapunzel.
Another thing great about tangled is the show tangled the series ( or Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure ) cause when I watched the show it actually made me appreciate the movie more than I did before!
l agree .. l liked Tangled better but neither movie was made for anyone over 65 so my opinion doesn’t count to anyone but me .. Tangled made me laugh .. Frozen was scary, to a young mind .. again, just my opinion!
How was Tangled NOT nominated for Best Animated Feature? Frozen, eat your frozen heart out. I disagree Frozen’s music is better. Yes its cool (goddamnit Barb) but NGL Tangled’s songs were AMAZING. The music does NOT have to be entirely singalongs to be an amazing soundtrack, I mean look at say Pocahontas, while some of the songs weren’t exactly singalongs because they’re ensemble songs, the instrumental pieces more than made up for those, encounter, first kiss, farewell and more! Just me but Frozen is beyond criminally overrated. I think some people need to “let it go” Imo Anna is kinda a copy of Rapunzel, just a bit dumber as she’s kinda reckless in a lot of scenes trying to get to Elsa, and she handed the reigns of her kingdom to a visiting royal she hardly knew instead, I don’t know, the councilor who woke her up for coronation and undoubtedly knows waay more about Arendelle than Hans! For those trying to say Anna nearly sacrificed herself for her kingdom, she didn’t. She kept running after Elsa, even in 2 when Elsa ran after Bruni the fire spirit, Anna stupidly chased her “You don’t want me to go after you?! Don’t run into fire!” Honey, she has powers, you DONT, its a freaking forest for crying out loud. Making Anna the new queen does NOT make her a better Disney princess than say Rapunzel, who actually became a step-in queen on quite a few occasions
Don't forget that while Frozen 2 is a sequel that reverts the relationships of the original Frozen, and does little for worldbuilding. The Tangled series acts as if the movie happened by letting the characters talk about the movie and keep their character development! Before I watched the Tangled series I liked Rapunzel, but I would say that Tiana was my favorite Disney Princess, but after watching the show I can confidently say that Rapunzel is my FAVORITE Disney Princess. This isn't really saying that Tangled is better than Frozen (which it is), but that they really dropped the ball in making the characters or world more likeable or intriguing with their sequels in comparison to the gem that is Tangled!
the songs in tangled all have real meaning and are important to the story. they actually make people feel something. frozen doesn't really do that much with the music
Character depth 2: Flynn-Eugene and Rapunzel. Their relationship truly evolves as compared to Cinderella and (again) Snow White with their princes - more perhaps like Lady and Tramp.
I agree with you Tangled is so much better but I kind of like the music better in Tangled It's just really nostalgic to me because the 1st Disney movie I have ever seen Personally my favorite part was just the 1st part where she singing and then I'll brush that brush and brush and brush my hair.
Tangled can never be better than Frozen. It's just blend and basic with a repetitive story that's been done a hundred times over in much better disney movies and don't even talk about animation becoz frozen outdoes it still. For example ( Let it go is too good to even be compared to a bunch of lanterns, and there was also the frozen forest scene plus Elsa and Anna are prettier than Rap....) Elsa and Anna aren’t even close to Rapunzel’s beauty. Are you kidding? Rapunzel and Flynn didn’t even like each other at first, especially because both of them were using the other. Plus no other Disney prince came even close to how hilarious and sarcastic Flynn is, not to mention sexy! Neither of their dreams were about falling in love either, it just happened. Also Maximus as a antagonist turned into a comic relief was hilarious because he noticed Flynn had a crush on her and butt bumped him into dancing with her, and Flynn gave him this “I’m going to kill you!” look as Max and Pascal are both chuckling about it. I See the Light is the ethereal version of Kiss the Girl. And as much as I was so mad they didn’t kiss, the scene Rapunzel is tricked into thinking Flynn didn’t actually love her and was faking it the entire time was actually so heartbreaking and shocking because of the way he looked at her so lovingly during I See the Light. And the way they held each other when her tear was able to heal him, oh man! Frozen was all a giant mess about Hans all of a sudden being a villain and love for Anna imo came out of nowhere considering until they ran into the trolls they were catty with each other most of the time
"Tangled is the best animated movie in the history of Disney" Ah ha haha um I'm sorry have has everyone forgotten sleeping beauty? Tangled is a great movie but sleeping beauty is top tier and can't be surpassed, especially when you consider the time it was made in.
Pocahontas and Tangled are my favorite Disney princess movies! Sleeping Beauty is art wise very beautiful as it was also animated to look like a painting anytime it was paused. But the music isn’t the best and the main character is actually Philip and Malificent instead of the title character Aurora, who only has 18 lines and slept for like 2/3 of the movie. Plus I get its more fairytale like, but her only dream is about finding her true love. We don’t really see her expressing her shock or thoughts about the fairies lying to her, making her believe she was an orphan they raised as their own and don’t want her to make friends either, just to drop a bombshell she’s actually a princess already betrothed to a prince and she can’t be with the man she ran into. Tangled dug into a ton of dark themes, including actually showing blood when Flynn is shanked by Mother Gothel. Not to mention he didn’t want to be healed because he’d rather die knowing she’s finally free and safe from someone who didn’t truly love her. I think that’s the best part of Gothel, was the question did she actually love Rapunzel even a tiny bit, but it’s confirmed no later in the series.
I wouldn't sleep on the Jungle Book being one of the greatest animated 2D Disney films,but I do agree with Tangled being the best 3D film at the very least it's one of the best I've always thought it was better than Frozen but people always disagreed but Wreck it Ralph is one of my favorite Disney films of all time and Venellope is my favorite Disney Princess and I've got criticism for that too so whatever,she's the future.
As someone who was a 9 year old at the time and obsessed over Frozen for the sole reason of ELSA, I completely agree. Now I can see that all those characters from Frozen are duller than a dirt nap compared to the Characters in Tangled.

I remember watching the trailer of tangled very long ago I still have it in my head I sadly didn't watch it in theaters but honestly if I were to choose between the 2 I would love to watch tangled all day
i might agree on the music part , even though in tangled "I see the light" is way better than any other songs in frozen because of the setup and the atmosphere i guess, at least to me. but in terms of the story so many things in frozen does not make any sense what so ever to me and some plots is felt forced in the frozen .. nonetheless i definitely like frozen a lot but when comparing, tangled is way way better to my taste.
Honestly I think there's another reason as to why people like Frozen over Tangled, or at least talk about it more. One note is from what I remember there was more advertisement drawn to it and overall I feel like it was really a movie Disney tried to push a lot even compared to other Disney movies. But there's another thing to consider, while both are based on a previous story, the difference is we all know the story of Rapunzel and so Rapunzel in Tangled feels like another version of a pre existing character, where as Anna and Elsa do not, they feel like brand new characters. Now I of course want to mention that yes, I agree Tangled is definitely better than Frozen, for music and songs I honestly prefer Tangled but I see how Frozen songs are more iconic. I feel one thing I'd give a point for Frozen is the character designs, another reason I think Frozen is more popular, yes Rapunzel has great animation with her hair, however I don't think that's quite what appeals to kids wanting toys, where as Elsa from a purely character design stance I think may be one of the best. So overall: Better marketing More iconic sound track Better Princess designs These are the factors I think are what made Frozen as big of a movie as it is, because keep in mind, this question goes far bigger than why is it talked about more than Tangled, it goes all the way to the fact that Frozen became the most successful animated Disney movie and I feel these are the factors that put it there.
I ask think one of the better moments of Tangled is that Flynn and Rapunzel’s best moments are very quiet. When Rapunzel is discovering the world, when Flynn watches Rapunzel’s Jaír being done by the three girls, “I See the Light”. All of these moments work because even if there is stuff going on in the background, we are focused on these two characters’ bond growing. And any moments of plot development such as mother go them finding the stabbington brothers and Flynn “leaving” Rapunzel happen outside of those quiet moments, allowing us to both enjoy the film as a whole, and as different portions in equal measure. Kristoff and Anna don’t have these quiet moments, every opportunity for us as the audience to witness their bond growing is outweighed somehow. Olaf being introduced, being kicked out of Elsa’s castle, sacrificing herself for her sister. There is no moment where we can tune out everything else and just focus on the love that is building between the two characters. So yeah thank you for coming to my Ted talk

That moment with the lanterns where Rapunzel slows down for a moment to lean against the prow of the ship and seems to sigh with some degree of contentment and satisfaction. It's nice but it's also particularly nice next to the usual frenetic energy of the main characters in most Disney films which tends to run towards the exhausting.
That is a very good point. We don’t ever get to see Kristoff and Anna fall for each other, we are just expected to understand they do and in the second movie, the natural next step is engagement and all of the sudden Kristoff is showing he is madly in love with her

I absolutely loved Tangled!!! It"s my all-time favorite Disney movie, and have said it's way better than Frozen. The main characters are more likeable, it has a better story and it's more funny. I loved the humor in Tangled! My only regret is that I didn't see Tangled in 3D to experience its full effects in the lantern scene on I See The Light. I bought the video Blu-ray 3D, but don't have a 3D TV, unfortunately.

Someone posted this on a reddit post about the two movies. I'd like an opinion on if it's accurate. It's pretty long.
Frozen absolutely nailed the pacing. It's not just the music, which is fantastic - it's also how the musical numbers are placed throughout the film to draw in and engage the viewer. It's almost hypnotic to children - we could always watch Frozen with my kids even when the youngest was only a year old, but she wouldn't sit through Tangled until she was old enough to understand and follow the plot. Adults like to pretend that stuff doesn't have an effect on us, but it does.
Frozen starts off like The Lion King - another of Disney's greatest films - with an instantly recognizable banger of a musical chant, which introduces the setting of the film and anchors the story in a very strong sense of place. Tangled starts off with six minutes of voiceover explaining the backstory followed by a song about how boring Rapunzel's life is. I like Tangled just fine, but the pacing is very uneven and it makes for a less engaging experience.
Frozen also hits early and hard with the drama. The accident with Anna and rushing her to the trolls for help. The foreshadowing of the danger which sets up the parents' motivation for hiding Elsa away. It's just much more urgent and effectively told than the story of Gothel finding the flower and kidnapping the princess.
You say that Tangled is more "focused" but in fact it's less focused. Frozen focuses tightly on a single storyline, in the sense that all of the action we see in the movie flows from the same source: Elsa's childhood trauma and the family's attempt to deal with it and hide Elsa's powers. Whereas Tangled is a collision of two separate stories: Rapunzel and Gothel (which gives us backstory one, narrated in voiceover at the beginning of the movie) and Eugene's theft and flight (giving us backstory two). These stories collide by accident (fate?). Then also by accident Gothel meets Eugene's former associates - there's a lot of coincidence and contrivance to drive the plot forward. And it's fine - I mean, it's entertaining - but it's not nearly as focused as Frozen's story: Elsa harms Anna, therefore Elsa shuts Anna out, therefore Anna is a shut-in who falls for the first stranger who talks to her, therefore Elsa freaks out, therefore Elsa flees, therefore Anna goes to find her, therefore Anna meets Kristoff and Olaf and gets re-Frozen, etc. etc. etc. - all of the action and conflict in the story flowing logically and inexorably from the same source.
The fact that Frozen is driven forward by a single unified chain of events and consequences makes the movie very engaging and in my opinion it also heightens the drama, because you get the feeling that everything is happening because of character choices, rather than coincidences and accidents. It means that the choices the characters make end up having more weight and higher stakes.
Then there are the "love" songs. Rapunzel and Eugene get "I see the light", which is... fine. It's slow. It's kind of a boring scene. It ends badly with Eugene seeing his ex-partners and then lying to Rapunzel about it and running off, which is an overused and toxic trope in Disney movies. Anna and Kristoff get "Fixer Upper", which is an absolute banger and also thematically on point for the movie as a whole: "people make bad choices when they're mad or scared or stressed, but throw a little love their way and you'll bring out their best". It ends with Kristoff doing the right thing and bringing Anna to someone who he thinks can save her.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both movies. But Frozen has better songs, which are used more effectively. It's got a tighter story which is paced better and has more dramatic weight. It has several effective twists, and I don't think the fact that the Hans twist was not telegraphed is a negative. The fact that it wasn't True Love's Kiss that saved Anna, but her act of sacrifice for her sister, is an incredible subversion of prior Disney tropes and a powerful statement about what love really is.
And that brings me to the final point. Gothel is fine as a villain. Perfectly serviceable. She's an evil manipulative passive aggressive sociopath. She has a great villain song. But she's also very conventional. "I'm the villain, here's the bad thing I want to do, here's how far I'll go to get what I want". Throw her out the window at the end of the movie and all is well.
In Frozen, the villain is fear. Grandpa Troll basically says it all the way back in the beginning of the movie. Fear will make you push away the people you love. Fear will make you isolate yourself where no one can hurt you - and where you can't hurt them. This fear is what we need to fight the most, and the only way to beat it is to love boldly and bravely. That is f*cking epic.
Like I said, I like both movies. I'd watch either one right now. But Frozen is justifiably more popular with critics and audiences - it's just a better film, all around, by pretty much every metric. Tangled is good. Maybe even great. But Frozen is a masterpiece.

Fun Fact about Tangled: This movie was one of the hardest movies for Disney to ever make as Tangled was the first movie they made with computer-generation technology and the movie was barely finished before its release date so they had to get a person to help with the movie, especially with the hair physics that goes into the movie. They had just managed to finish the movie before its release date and it came out spectacular. If you look up the Behind The Scenes, you'll see how much was unfinished and how they did all the animation with the hair and lanterns.
Yeah , and when you talk about Frozen : Besides all the crappy content , it was already an adaptation of the The Snow Queen , so there wasn't any original effort to even begin with. And yet with all the wasted quality animation , this is what they finally came up with.

I've heard this before. The difficulties they faced is actually why Tangled's budget was so high. Apparently, Disney had to spend a lot to get the studio the things they needed. This is reflected in Frozen's relatively low budget three years later as the cost was already acquired during Tangled.

in frozen 2 they reused maximus’ noises for the water spirit and pascal’s noises for the fire spirit. they also reused and touched up some animation from tangled when rapunzel meets her parents and makes a sublimely happy face in frozen 2 when elsa is singing “show yourself” which is further proof that tangled is better lol

I love Tangled mainly because it somehow able to give that shiver and warm feeling. The characters development are great, the storyline is awesome and the comedy are insanely hilarious (Like Pascal and Max. For me I mostly enjoy when Eugene and Cass are roasting each other in the series).
The songs are just ear catching (I see the lights, when will my life began, I've got a dream, mother knows best, The Series: NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE, let me make you proud, ready as I'll ever be, waiting in the wings, wind in my hair, more in me, etc)
One song that really is different though for me is the Kingdom Dance. Although it didn't have lyrics but the tune of it just brings back the nostalgic feeling that I somehow couldn't explain.
Plus point to Tangled: Varian and Cass (and Lance and Red and Angry)

I don't agree with OST. Soundtrack in Tangled is better. In every single way. Songs in Tangled is right where they're belong in the movie. I mean the timing. And the songs just better. When will my life begin, mother knows best, I've got a dream and of course I SEE THE LIGHT. All this songs are perfect. What do we have in Frozen? Of course, Let it Go is a super song. No comments. But... it's only in the begining...Then we got some random not catchy songs. No culmination. (And the snowman song is good too) And that's it. Tangled is better even in the soundtrack

Agreed, Let It Go is definitely a banger, and easily the top song between both films, but the reality is that many of the tracks in Frozen are kind of duds. So while Let It Go reaches really high and others are good and solid, the song by the trolls...exists. Balanced out.

I love Tangled more than Frozen 1 for the characters, the development of the protagonists, and how it really dives to the fear and courage that Rapunzel goes through. It is way more fleshed out than Elsa's fear then random realization that loves drives away fear.
Yes, Olaf's love was completely ignored. His words were the sweetest out of all the script in the movie.
literally watched frozen AND tangled just last night for the heck of it (aka to maximize my disney plus free week). Frozen was first : what a damn chore to get through. weak, mostly bland to look at (blue/white boring looking snow environments), TERRIBLE comic relief, character motivations that make no sense, an alive snowman that makes no sense, "action scenes" that come completely out of nowhere just to have an action scene, REALLY shitty sounding songs except let it go, which I would still argue is badly produced, but i guess has a catchy melody. All the rest of the songs are SO bad! Then tangled, even though it's older and maybe the textures and rendering aren't AS good as frozen, the art direction and animation are WAY, WAY better. It's GORGEOUS. The story makes sense and flows along well, great pacing, all the character motivations actually make sense, the songs aren't lame midi-sounding pop bullshit, the comic relief is actually hilarious. And god the character and FACIAL animation is INCREDIBLE! It's just no contest!
The animation in Rapunzel's hair, was just beautiful. They had to spend so much time animating Rapunzel's hair. Especially for that time it was just gorgeous. My dad is a computer game designer, and teaches video game design with animation. He always uses the animation in Tangled with Rapunzel's hair to show good animation. Also Rapunzel's wasn't really saved by Flynn/ Eugene. She had to save him in the end. But there relationship in the movie and how much it grows was just so well done. Tangled has always been one of my favorite Disney movies. I honestly feel that Tangled is underrated. Just like the animated series for Tangled. Which is just so well done and if you haven't watched it I would recommend you do cause it's just amazing!

I completely disagree: Tangled's songs are WAY better than anything in Frozen or Frozen II. You kidding!? They're fun, central to the plot, and one is very different from the next... I just don't understand how people think anymore, jeez.

Rapunzel literally figured out all on her own that she was the lost princess and “mother” was not her real mother and nothing more than a big fat liar. Anna while isolated at least had professional tutors to educate her and knew a lot more things than Rapunzel. Rapunzel is yes a bit naive, but that’s not her fault, considering she learned a TON of crafts on her own, seeing she only had 3 books and it’s confirmed Gothel was hardly ever at home, and was her only source of information

I agree with pretty much everything you said. It's flabbergasting that Frozen is more popular than Tangled. Tangled is WAY better. Once when Frozen came out, everyone just forgot about Tangled which makes me sad. Tangled is so underrated. Maybe it's not quite up there with The Little Mermaid or Beauty & the Beast but in terms of the Disney movies that came out in the last 10+ years, Tangled is easily one of the better ones.

Agreed. Frozen has a great first act, with three great songs right after another, but after Let It Go, I usually just switch it off. The rest of the movie is just filler. Tangled though, keeps my interest all the way through. The best song is at the end of the second act, and the third act is both quick, and well constructed. And for the record, the shocking plot twist of Frozen makes less and less sense the more you think about it, but the shocking plot twist of Tangled is so perfect in hindsight that you can't imagine the film ending any other way.
My main problem with Frozen is that Elsa sings "Let It Go" as if she no longer cares about anything else and will embrace her powers... But then does nothing.
I'm not even sure Frozen has the best music. Nothing in Frozen competes with Mother Knows Best.
You should listen to the soundtrack of the Tangled series if you haven’t already. They have songs that compare to Let it Go and defying gravity but with so much more meaning, character, and heart behind them.

And let's not forget the "sequel" materials. Tangled The Series Vs. Frozen 2. The music of TTS is just, AMAZING, beautiful and so meaningful, and yeah, F2 had some good songs, Into The Unknown was good, and there are others good ones, but I seriously can't remember them🤣 and as for the new characters introduced, in my opinion, there's a few lesser versions of Tangled characters, such as the water horse, and the fire lizard. Plus, there's all the new villains of TTS, the character arcs, (a bit biased here) Varian is just wonderful, and his relationship with Rapunzel and Eugene is so sweet, especially in the third season.

One of the coolest and most creative animation decisions was having the lanterns reflect in the water in a way that makes it look like Flynn and Rapunzel are in the sky. Tangled has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, so I like hearing your take!

I think that the point of unfreezing your heart was that it’s YOU who has to commit an act of true love. That’s why it works when Anna sacrifices herself. The "true love’s kiss" was just a tropey conjecture on the characters’ part.
To be honest I think disney knows exactly what they're doing. I think they know frozen is not good but due to various elements of it that it would be a cash cow because it would win over a VERY young audience (much younger than the target audience for tangled by a few years I think).
I agree! TBH Frozen’s cast is the dumber version of Tangled, looking at you Sven vs Maximus and Anna vs Rapunzel, and Kristoff doesn’t even come close to Flynn’s level. Olaf as well if anything tended to be a bit annoying at times because he never shuts up. The song In Summer honestly is skippable, as well as Fixer Upper, like seriously, a bunch of trolls who only appeared once are back and they don’t really have any significance aside curing Anna and (this I believe) made Hans evil so she’d get with Kristoff, considering they literally tried marrying them right there even when Kristoff shouted at them “We aren’t a couple! She’s already engaged to somebody else ok?” Not to mention even in the sequel Anna is so paranoid around Kristoff and they even got separated! I don’t care if she was concerned about Elsa’s safety (when Anna almost died several times in the original) she had very poor communication with Kristoff. No wonder they didn’t show their wedding in the end, which I’m kinda surprised.

I was like 10 when I watched Frozen and Tangled and even then I wasn't a huge fan of Frozen..
I feel like one of the reasons people like Frozen better is because it’s an original idea. I mean, everyone’s heard of the story of Rapunzel for the most part and people kind of knew what to expect while watching the movie, definitely not everything but still, and while watching Frozen it was definitely a new and fresh idea and people didn’t know what to expect. So that’s one reason, although even if the story of Tangled wasn’t completely new, it was still a better plot than Frozen in my opinion. Another reason is that little kids don’t even care about what the plot is, they just care about a character with superpowers(Elsa) or a funny character(Olaf) or just a Princess (Anna) and obviously kids think that the Frozen soundtrack is better, even though Tangled has good songs like “I see the light”, I don’t think kids are gonna love super romantic songs or whatever, and they’d rather listen to a song with a character who has superpowers and builds an ice castle. I’m just saying that’s what kids like and kids or 95% of the reason Frozen made all the money they did. I still like Tangled though I’m just saying.

Kids like Frozen because it doesn't only focus on romantic love but also sisterly love and the love of family, and I was really tired seeing romantic love stories from Disney, that's why I love Frozen and Elsa.
Frozen 2 didnt even make much sense to me tbh. I wasnt a fan of the "spirit" part of it, and their journey was kinda..ehh. It's just kinda off that Kristoff was just there, Olaf just tags along and dies and then alive again, Elsa didnt learn her lesson from the first movie where she shouldnt do things herself anymore, and I just feel bad for Anna. It wasnt a bad movie, it just felt lacking. There were parts that couldve been better. I dont hate it, but i prefer the first movie over the second one. (Tangled is above there ofc)

Comparing these two movies is absolutely wrong!! They are a lot different from each other. People who are bent on proving their point that tangled is better than frozen, they are more into rom-com kinda stuff.
But Frozen is a masterpiece! People don't get it but it sure is!! Frozen focusses on a lot deeper aspects like fear, love for yourself, accepting yourself the way you are, standing by the people you care about no matter what.
People compare Flyn and Rupenzel to Christoph and Anna. I mean why? Flyn and Rupenzel are obviously better because that's what they were meant to be! Tangled had their love as a main theme. But Frozen never tried to lay a hand on Romantic love, it tells us about the love between two sisters, familia love, which is beautiful in its own unique way!
Both the movies are beautiful in their own way. I love Tangled too.....but Frozen broke all stereotypes of previous Disney movies by making it so deep!
Tangled is about a princess who sets on an adventure with a charming young man and amidst all ups and downs, falls in love and finds her real family.
Frozen is about two sisters, one born with magic and one without magic. Elsa has trouble accepting her difference from others. How fear pushes her away from her own sister, and how it makes the situation terrible. Anna's love for her sister almost pushes her towards death but even then she saves her! Risking her own life!
You should watch the Tangled series!! It does a lot of things that Frozen does but a LOT better. There are a lot of parallels but I won’t spoil them all. One that’s kind of funny is with Eugene and Kristoff both wanting to propose, but Eugene has more development with it and a character outside of being in love with Raps. Both Frozen 2 and Tangled the series also introduce new characters who are supposed to be friends with the protagonists. In Frozen they are incredibly forgettable and add nothing to the plot, while the series offers mind blowing side characters that have become fan favorites. I get what you’re saying though! And each to their own, the movies in and of themselves are both different and they’re both pretty great for their own reasons.

I think one thing that would be a fair comparison is how the characters react to their previous experiences. In Tangled, it’s clear that the events of the first movie has had dramatic effects on all of the characters who were in the first movie. Rapunzel and her dad especially were shown dealing with their trauma from what happened. Meanwhile in the sequel to Frozen, it seems like the characters completely forgot what happened and go through the same problems they had in the first movie lol

Tangled is underrated because it’s more of a teen/young adult movie. Those sappy American moms wouldn’t let their kids see Eugene getting STABBED ON SCREEN and the fact that they animated BLOOD on his wound TWICE. Frozen is more kid friendly and it managed to appeal to older audiences simultaneously.

Romance as well. Flynn and Rapunzel clearly love each other and you could see them falling for each other through out the movie. It’s very cute. Then there’s Anna and Kristoff.
Most of their relationship is just Flynn and Rapunzel part 2. Also, I don’t think they planned it like this, but Kristoff apparently doesn’t truly love her. You’d think him risking his life to save her would be an act of true love, but *sisters*. Booooring.
I love my sister and it’s alright to have a change, but I’d rather the romance. Hell, they could do both. It would have been a better idea if they had Elsa be the villain at least in the 1st one. Hans being the villain was so rushed, that the only thing that makes sense is that the trolls were manipulating him (it IS set in a Nordic country and trolls aren’t good in Norse mythology).
Mother Gothel is legendary. She’s not as scary as Lady Tremaine, but she’s up there. I think that the more realistic a villain, the scarier they are.

I've watched Tangled in the theaters in 3D three or four times with different sets of friends and family and bought the home video. No kidding, I would rush to the theater again to watch it in 3D again. The visuals are beautiful but the story, the characters and the music elevate this movie above so many others. I've seen bits and pieces of Frozen on youtube but none of it excites me the way Tangled has.

How was Tangled NOT nominated for Best Animated Feature? Frozen, eat your frozen heart out. I disagree Frozen’s music is better. Yes its cool (goddamnit Barb) but NGL Tangled’s songs were AMAZING. The music does NOT have to be entirely singalongs to be an amazing soundtrack, I mean look at say Pocahontas, while some of the songs weren’t exactly singalongs because they’re ensemble songs, the instrumental pieces more than made up for those, encounter, first kiss, farewell and more! Don't forget that while Frozen 2 is a sequel that reverts the relationships of the original Frozen, and does little for worldbuilding. The Tangled series acts as if the movie happened by letting the characters talk about the movie and keep their character development! Before I watched the Tangled series I liked Rapunzel, but I would say that Tiana was my favorite Disney Princess, but after watching the show I can confidently say that Rapunzel is my FAVORITE Disney Princess. This isn't really saying that Tangled is better than Frozen (which it is), but that they really dropped the ball in making the characters or world more likeable or intriguing with their sequels in comparison to the gem that is Tangled!

I agree with you Tangled is so much better but I kind of like the music better in Tangled It's just really nostalgic to me because the 1st Disney movie I have ever seen Personally my favorite part was just the 1st part where she singing and then I'll brush that brush and brush and brush my hair.
Tangled can never be better than Frozen. It's just blend and basic with a repetitive story that's been done a hundred times over in much better disney movies and don't even talk about animation becoz frozen outdoes it still. For example ( Let it go is too good to even be compared to a bunch of lanterns, and there was also the frozen forest scene plus Elsa and Anna are prettier than Rap....) All these plus many more are the reasons why Frozen is the very best and most famous animation in the world SO DEAL WITH IT !
Elsa and Anna aren’t even close to Rapunzel’s beauty. Are you kidding? Rapunzel and Flynn didn’t even like each other at first, especially because both of them were using the other. Plus no other Disney prince came even close to how hilarious and sarcastic Flynn is, not to mention sexy! Neither of their dreams were about falling in love either, it just happened. Also Maximus as a antagonist turned into a comic relief was hilarious because he noticed Flynn had a crush on her and butt bumped him into dancing with her, and Flynn gave him this “I’m going to kill you!” look as Max and Pascal are both chuckling about it. I See the Light is the ethereal version of Kiss the Girl. And as much as I was so mad they didn’t kiss, the scene Rapunzel is tricked into thinking Flynn didn’t actually love her and was faking it the entire time was actually so heartbreaking and shocking because of the way he looked at her so lovingly during I See the Light. And the way they held each other when her tear was able to heal him, oh man!
Frozen was all a giant mess about Hans all of a sudden being a villain and love for Anna imo came out of nowhere considering until they ran into the trolls they were catty with each other most of the time

Pocahontas and Tangled are my favorite Disney princess movies! Sleeping Beauty is art wise very beautiful as it was also animated to look like a painting anytime it was paused. But the music isn’t the best and the main character is actually Philip and Malificent instead of the title character Aurora, who only has 18 lines and slept for like 2/3 of the movie. Plus I get its more fairytale like, but her only dream is about finding her true love. We don’t really see her expressing her shock or thoughts about the fairies lying to her, making her believe she was an orphan they raised as their own and don’t want her to make friends either, just to drop a bombshell she’s actually a princess already betrothed to a prince and she can’t be with the man she ran into.
Tangled dug into a ton of dark themes, including actually showing blood when Flynn is shanked by Mother Gothel. Not to mention he didn’t want to be healed because he’d rather die knowing she’s finally free and safe from someone who didn’t truly love her. I think that’s the best part of Gothel, was the question did she actually love Rapunzel even a tiny bit, but it’s confirmed no later in the series.
I wouldn't sleep on the Jungle Book being one of the greatest animated 2D Disney films,but I do agree with Tangled being the best 3D film at the very least it's one of the best I've always thought it was better than Frozen but people always disagreed but Wreck it Ralph is one of my favorite Disney films of all time and Venellope is my favorite Disney Princess and I've got criticism for that too so whatever,she's the future.

As someone who was a 9 year old at the time and obsessed over Frozen for the sole reason of ELSA, I completely agree. Now I can see that all those characters from Frozen are duller than a dirt nap compared to the Characters in Tangled.

Thank you so many people say that Frozen is better than Tangled cuz I've seen it you know and Frozen is a really good movie but Tangled has better songs they made a TV show and they put Varian Cassandra Eugene Rapunzel and the list goes on it's just so good and I love Tangled so much I'm trying to get my mom into the TV show.

I sadly didn't watch it in theaters but honestly if I were to choose between the 2 I would love to watch tangled all day
i might agree on the music part , even though in tangled "I see the light" is way better than any other songs in frozen because of the setup and the atmosphere i guess, at least to me. but in terms of the story so many things in frozen does not make any sense what so ever to me and some plots is felt forced in the frozen .. nonetheless i definitely like frozen a lot but when comparing, tangled is way way better to my taste.

Tangled the Series is my favorite show
Honestly I think there's another reason as to why people like Frozen over Tangled, or at least talk about it more.
One note is from what I remember there was more advertisement drawn to it and overall I feel like it was really a movie Disney tried to push a lot even compared to other Disney movies.
But there's another thing to consider, while both are based on a previous story, the difference is we all know the story of Rapunzel and so Rapunzel in Tangled feels like another version of a pre existing character, where as Anna and Elsa do not, they feel like brand new characters.
Now I of course want to mention that yes, I agree Tangled is definitely better than Frozen, for music and songs I honestly prefer Tangled but I see how Frozen songs are more iconic.
I feel one thing I'd give a point for Frozen is the character designs, another reason I think Frozen is more popular, yes Rapunzel has great animation with her hair, however I don't think that's quite what appeals to kids wanting toys, where as Elsa from a purely character design stance I think may be one of the best.
So overall:
Better marketing
More iconic sound track
Better Princess designs
These are the factors I think are what made Frozen as big of a movie as it is, because keep in mind, this question goes far bigger than why is it talked about more than Tangled, it goes all the way to the fact that Frozen became the most successful animated Disney movie and I feel these are the factors that put it there.
Watched this movie so much that I can recite the movie, from start to finish. Love this movie.

Tangled was the first movie I can recall seeing in theaters… and little 5 year old me fell IN LOVE with it (still am)! Frozen just didn’t hit as well
