I was on the breakaway, Labor Day weekend in 2019. We were heading back to the port of Miami. When we got the news that it was closed. We ended up going to New Orleans a couple days later. I'm here to report. I am so happy that I booked the air through Norwegian. We didn't have to do anything to get flights out of New Orleans that day. NCL did work for us. The people that didn't book through NCL had to contact their airline or travel agent from the ship. It was pandemonium in the atrium. People were extremely agitated. I thought there was going to be a riot on the ship. You have to understand there's a limited amount of phones, and thousands of people trying to change their travel plans. The second time I used NCL air I got mixed results. The flight going to Seattle was great. It was a good early flight. The flight leaving Seattle was extremely late. It was a 10 o'clock flight. So we had an entire day to kill Seattle. We made the best of it and explored the city for the day. Now I'm going to use NCL air to travel to Athens in August. I'm saving about two grand going through NCL. I'm crossing my fingers hoping the flight times will be good. I'm just waiting for the flight information now.
I'm glad NCL took care of you back in 2019. They certainly didn't take care of me. NCL should have stuck to the original plan, keeping you guys in Cozumel for a couple days and canceling my cruise, rather than string everyone along.
I also made the mistake of booking my air through NCL. I was rather surprised when I received my flight info, because on my flight home, they booked me on an 11:55PM flight. This means that I would be sitting in the airport for 12 to 14 hours. I was told by NCL air department that there were no changes and no cancellation. I also called the airline and was told the same as they told you. I finally called my NCL connection and told them that I would cancel the cruise for cruise credit, if it wasn't changed. After I said that, their story changed. They said that they could cancel the air part of my cruise, and I could book my own. (and get a refund of the air fare part of the cruise) I'm waiting for a confirmation on that. If they mess me over on that, I'll just cancel the cruise and rebook the same, for a slightly later date.
Thanks. I never heard about these airlines issues. Your information is invaluable
you're welcome!
