I love that the bass is so heavy, he actually has to set it down on the stage and play it vertically.
He plays it like that anyway. He used to play BC Rich Warlocks but that one has a multiscale
I think one reason he plays it that way is because his bass has fan frets, i.e. angled.
@@Kevinacharles he plays like that to straighten out his right arm and play super fast and be able to fret notes faster
I fuckin love how he plays it...seeing it live just has a really powerful look.

i saw suffocation with 3 diffent vocalists in the last 10 years, and they never disappointed. 4 shure, it was special to be lucky enough to see them with Frank in 2014 (?), that was awesome. but they never played a bad gig, no matter who was in charge of the microphone.

Ricky is a killer vocalist. Had the pleasure of chatting with him and Derek three-four years ago when they played my shitty town. Great dudes.
Ricky was brought along slowly to fill Frank's spot. He had lots of practice time to get shit dialed in. And did he ever.
Of course dude, I think people still need a time or process to fitting the differences from the internal personnel if suffocation, but the current vocalist is great to fill frank mullen spots, they still great monster in death metal scene🔥

This band never gets enough credit. They are right up there with Death and Cannibal in terms of pioneering early death metal. These guys were so fucking extreme in the early 90s that most people were still too scared to listen to them.

hell yeah man. Just straight up Old School Death Fucking Metal. Definitely listen to Pierced From Within, Despise The Sun, and Human Waste for the full experience. One of the absolute best old school death metal bands out there.
@@m.infernal yeah I'm definitely gonna go to the back catalog. They have also inspired me to get some decent speakers because I noticed the only way you I can get the full experience is when I put headphones on but I would like to blast them through some speakers too and piss off the neighbors!

I saw Suffocation back in 1998, Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel. It was a few shows, but that was crazy. Even here, I don't see cell phones in the air which is nice. They would get knocked out of your hand lol.

This isn’t Suffocation…. The only original member here is Terrence Hobbs, the lead guitarist. Frank Mullen is gone on vocals, Mike Smith is gone on drums, Derek Boyer is gone on bass.
These guys are still awesome, but they aren’t the same Suffocation line-up with the same veracity and energy that I grew up watching, live, growing up on Long Island in New York. Anytime these guys would come back to town, the venues would be sold out instantly and people would just stand around outside the venue to hear them.
