This was an incredibly useful video thank you. It's given me a good roadmap of reading as someone who is a non-Muslim who doesn't know Arabic (though I am about to start trying to learn)
Thank you so much for this. I'm not a muslim but I'm trying to learn about Ibn' Arabi, I'll try to learn arabic, I'm in the beginning of my path and this was of great help.
Saiyad, I hope this will be an starting point to see your lectures on Ibn Arabi. Your academic, analytical lectures. Which by your extend of knowledge, would last for several years... Insha Allah
I see Shaykh Nurudeen Durkee's translation of the the Quran. He used to give khutub and advice to us youngins in the early 2000s at our university. Allah give him Jannah. I wish I had taken more advantage of his sobhah back then.
As always, thank you so very much for your work! Sufi Path of Knowledge and Self Disclosure of God are amazing books! Rethinking Ibn' Arabi, is also I think important reading to help contextualize "western" conceptualization of Ibn' Arabi's works and translations. Eric Winkel's translation of Futuhat ... I think should be read only after one has started learning Arabic, and with maybe at least a rudimentary understanding of Arabic and after having read Chittick's books. Because, although Winkel's translation is quite beautifully presented - I get a bit of a colemanbarksy feel! If one has at least some understanding of Arabic, then it would be possible to compare some of the words he has translated with the original Arabic and get more out of the translation than just reading it in straight English.
As salamu alaikum dear professor, First of all, I want to thank you immensely on this video. I find your commentaries and advices on reading material and the way in which they can be of use with further studies extremely useful, when providing certain warnings as well. Regarding commentaries on Ibn Arabi, I am curious if you have heard about the 17th century shaykh Abdullah al-Bosnawi's commentary on Fusus al-Hikam (Sharih al-Fusus)? It is a well known commentary, so I would be grateful for your opinion.
I am not aware of any such translations, unfortunately, but I could be wrong, since I read mainly in Arabic. As for al-Ghazālī, the Islamic Texts Society and Fons Vitae have published translations of al-Ghazālī. Please consult their respective websites.
I really do not know much about this topic. The extent of my knowledge of this matter is that the term in question, namely "asmāʾ al-tahlīl" أسماء التهليل or "āyāt al-tahlīl" آيات التهليل simply refers to those verses of the Holy Qurʾān in which the phrase "lā ilāha illaʾllāh" لا إله إلا الله occurs. The recitation of these verses in ṣūfī practice is very common, apparently, in West Africa. And Allah knows best والله أعلم
Oh ok i see thank you for your response. Asmaa ul tahlil was written by Ibn arabi. It’s on the futuhatul makiya. It was translated in frensh by Charles andre Gilis. I have the book and ibn arabi talked about the number 36, 360, 666,111 and so. I thought u knew about it. Try to see if there is an English version of it. It’s a very good book about the unity of Allah.
It Is ironic that Ibn Arabí has never mentioned وحدة الوجود in his works.so how come when we want to Talk about Ibn Arabí we always stick this expresion that has been used, particuarily to attack him and consider him heretic .so for the sake of truth one must be careful while using this term ,otherwise not using It at all.

The first complete commentary on Fusus is for al-Tilmisani not Jandi. It was published in Tehran few years ago.
I've also seen some folks claim to be a sufi and mix mashing all kinds of religious and traditonal practices together.
My new fav video on TH-cam

Dr. Ahmad thank you very much for another video. Please make videos on ilm al huroof if it is not too much to ask.

وفوق كل ذي علم عليم
The commentary of Khajeh Parsa is actually for Mir Sayid Ali Hamadani.
