Camped at Lake Minnewanka as a kid, beautiful but it was cold waking up in a tent, even in July and August!
Thanks for the mini epic hike video Stuart 🌞

How lucky you were to camp in such great places as a kid! And yes, it can be chilly pretty much anytime as you know!!

Once again you and I did the same hike this year at different times. (We saw different deer, too.) Great call for a beginner backpack, those sites further up the lake are a bit quieter but still easy to get to and every bit as good.

That's a crazy coincidence!! I totally agree about the campsites further up the lake, I had tried for LM9 on this occasion but it was fully booked and due to time constraints I had to take LM8 because I couldn't go any further in. I also agree this is a great backpack for beginners or families or for testing new gear. Easily accessible and not too much work to get where you're going. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

Stayed at LM9 last year. Would recommend going back for that campsite. It’s small so it’s not as busy as LM8 but you get really nice views of the lake!

I totally agree with this. I actually tried for LM9 but could not get it on the day I was available. So I ended up at LM8. I would imagine all of the campsites further out are wonderful - and quieter!! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks. Yes it was. Very early season I believe I recorded this video in May just before that snow storm that came through. Epic spring!

Mountain biked there many times back in the 90’s

It's a great spot for biking and in fact on my trip I saw quite a few bikers taking advantage of the wide trails. Although I have to say the rocky section heading down to the lake would be a bit sketchy on a bike! Not sure I am brave enough :-)

I live so close but have never done this hike. one day have to make it to Almyer pass. I prefer to stick to Kananaskis. less Disney Land However next year maybe it's time to explore Banff and Jasper some more. As you say there's lots of remote country were the disney people do not go. enjoy the one night stands.

Thanks so much! It's funny, I've never explored Kananaskis. It's certainly on the list. Kilmer pass would be great and I've often thought of making a loop out of it getting out into the non-park area and coming back in around. Lots to explore for sure!
