First off let me start by saying you and Debo are freaking awesome 👊🏻 I’m not sure if you’re sponsored by Okuma and if you are forget what I’m about to share but I purchased and used a Dream Tackle Design Formula D reel from Amazon this year and loved it so much so I purchased a second from Ali Express for 2/3 what I paid on Amazon and it’s awesome. For a bit of background it’s a magnesium framed Okuma Hakai with a short shaft spool just like the one in the new Okuma you’re doing the review video on currently. Lastly so everyone knows Dream Tackle Design created the spool that is in the Okuma Hakai and I would love to see you or Debo do a review if possible, if not I completely understand and again I truly respect your videos and look forward to all of them.
Hey bud, I do work with Okuma and I'm familiar with the reel you're talking about. I saw it after Okuma released the Hakai. I believe Okuma makes that spool themselves now. I'm not really sure what happened with that situation though. I do have a casting video with the Hakai. Appreciate the continued support brother! 👊💪
Will be interested to see how it casts smaller baits, I really like the smaller frame reels. I'm thinking you should do a video of the tackle store behind you! lol Just be interesting seeing how you organize all of your baits and hooks and such, just a thought. Have a great week, I'm in a tree kinda mode now. But always love the new reels you bring out!
TJ looks like a sweet reel! I really like the line keeper and line size indicator. Still looking to try a Daiwa reel to see how it compares to my Shimano reels!
I just picked up a Tatula 100 and I’m blown away by it . I’ve got mostly Lews and Shimano and this Diawa really blew me away !! I’d avoid the Fuego as a first Diawa reel though , it’s overpriced. The Lews LFS or Shimano SLX is a better option at that price point
Great review and it’s a slick looking reel. I just don’t know how Okuma expects to play in the same sandbox with Shimano and Diawa at the $279 price point. They are going to get destroyed by the Chronarch mgl, Curado DC and the Zillion you can order for less from Japan that’s the best reel on the market hands down. The Okuma has an aluminum gear instead of brass so it will get geary a lot faster and for almost $300 I shouldn’t have to open up the side plate to make adjustments. I can use my zillion for bfs applications too and buy replacement spools. Not sure what Okuma was thinking on this and should have stuck with the Hakai and Komodo as their high end reels. I’d be surprised if the X series could outcast the Curado mgl. Just doesn’t make sense to venture into the price point of Diawa and Shimano’s wheel house who actually make their own products. If I were to gamble at the $279 price point it would be with the new Lews Custom Pro Gen 3 with paramag breaking system both centrifugal and magnetic with the best customer service in the industry. I’m curious to hear how the Okuma reels perform after 7-12 months. The new X series rods look awesome and I want to check them out but the power ratings on them don’t make sense. The 7’3 MHXF rod is rated 1/4-1/2oz. My 6’10 medium mod fast Expride is rated up to 3/4oz. I just find the new Okuma gear a head scratcher
Pretty slick looking reel. I think the only Okuma reels i have are the big catfish or trolling setups with the line counters. For the price they're nice. I keep forgetting to enter the giveaway. Cool video as always short and right to the point. I might have missed if you said it, but is this the reel in the giveaway?
I have old school Okuma Metaloid spinning reels that finish wore off, but still so smooth. Also have a couple of Okuma Helios TCS which I love. Tackle Warehouse has a ridiculous sell on these right now....going to try one!@TackleJunky81
It has a split spool shaft which doesn't save weight due to the other section of shaft is in the reel just not attached to the spool itself. Well guess ot saves spool weight but not reel weight lol. At that price someone can get some really nice reels from bigger name brands so not sure I'd go okuma lol.
@TackleJunky81 always bro. Love watching you do gear and tackle except it makes me spend money sometimes 🤷♂️😂. Alot of bfs reels and ultra light casting reels have that short double shaft system btw. Found that kind of neat when I broke one down lol.
@@RyanSmith-fb8rf lure ratings and all that hoopla mean nothing to me on the actual product. That's the things I consider once I look at purchasing a rod for a particular lure range only. What's important when looking at gear is the materials and build quality. I can get 30$ rods that have the same specs as a 300$ rod but one has better components and a better build quality.

Right on! I'll shoot an updated tackle room tour this winter. 👊💪

You'll love the Daiwa reels for sure! 👊💪

Okuma makes some awesome stuff just needs the right publicity
💯
I really like it TJ! Definitely LEGIT!
💯 brother! 👊
Sick looking reel 🔥. Great video
💯 👊
Still love my Hakai, it’s getting a workout as my frog reel. Looking forward to the X series casting video
Right on brother! 👊💪
Cool reel, love the video as always
Thanks man! 👊
it be cool to see their shallow spool Hakai reels in the US. saw photos for the longest time on social media, but no where to be found in the US T_T
I'm not familiar with that one...I'll have to look into it.
Good video Jim, love the Okuma helios Good reel😊
💯 brother! 👊

The X Series 7'3" MH is rated up to 3/4oz...must be a typo on TW.
Good review, does the Okuma have a spool clicking drag?
It does not. Appreciate you watching!
Tackle Tour!
You got it! 👊💪
Looks like a sweet reel man. Thanks for the review. 👍
Right on brother! 👊💪
@@TackleJunky81 darn bots got in your comment section. 🤬

The giveaway is over now.
Looks like a beauty

Looks clean

You’ve been a big okuma guy for years haven’t you? I really think the Komodo is the goat catfish reel
Yes sir! The TCS rods turned me on to the brand!
Reel Nice !
How would you compare this to a Metanium for the money?
Haven't used it much yet, so I can't say, but being so compact, it's definitely more comfortable in hand!

@blind_eye_fishing 🤣 I get that a lot!
Funny I just said the same exact thing about the new Okuma products rod and reels. Take a look at the rods lure weight ratings for the X series
