      BDRMs? Do you mean the Soviet " Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina" aka "Combat Reconnaissance Patrol Vehicle" - I assume you mean crew served weapons that were on it? or am I an idiot who doesn't know their acronyms - an IWDKTAs if you will...

      @@vaclavjebavy5118 Not really, I had to dig in pretty deep for that acronym; the acronym we use here (assuming it's actually what he meant) is "CRPV'" and was legit asking if that's what he was talking about. Despite claims to the contrary, people in the US are actually more polyglotal than the rest of the world assumes but not when it comes to Eastern European language acronyms; just as an example, the term "Rocket Propelled Grenades" (RPG's) originated from us in the US making shit up to "make sense" of the actual Russian Acronym of Ruchnoy Protivotankovy Granatomyot, which means something like "hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher." So yeah when I asked if that's what he meant, I actually was asking what he meant.

      @@bryanl1984 BRDM is not a general purpose acronym, it's a specific series of vehicles, and used pretty much only in reference to them. Besides, part of your question was whether he meant "BRDM mounted" which is obviously not the case given " defeat BRDMs with rifle fire..."

    I couldn't like this fast enough. Really nice to know the practical capabilities of the plates we get issued.
    I would like the see the +p .300 win mag m2 ap again, I'd be interested in seeing if it could consistently penetrate. The m993 threat would also be really interesting to see too.

    • @KoishiVibin
      @KoishiVibin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wouldn't bet on it. The improved velocity is certainly something, but especially at ranges it'd likely be fired at I would expect failure to perforate.
      Further, M993...
      Well, that's another story. Still, heavily reduced range of perforation.
      Also, this *is* an older model, so keep that in mind.

    • @jl123ist

      .300 win mag is no joke. I've shot mild steel with 180 grain soft points at 550 yards and it did not penetrate, but stretched out a cone on the back of the 5/8" mild steel plate. Anything sub 300 yards penetrated.

      @user-oy9zy4ds9m 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tbh m995 kinda of sucks. Sure I would take it over m855a1 if you gave me enough to use or stockpile but for the absurd cost and semi-lack of ability to defeat level 4 reliably it’s just not worth it.

    • @TMega5612
      @TMega5612 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@user-oy9zy4ds9m NIJ IV struggled to hold back M995 AP3. It would absolutely laugh off M855A1. You'd have a much, much better time getting through armor with M995 and it would easily clear NIJ III+, which is a velocity (thus barrel length) dependent threat for M855A1. And if you manage to get M995 AP4 then you can get through NIJ IV reliably in one shot.
      Its only negatives compared to M855A1 are availability and price.

      @@TMega5612 buff man showed that even from 22” barrel at close range some level 4 armor still stops m995 easily, but other brands it goes through. Use your imagination by what I mean when I say "acquired". When these items go missing, its not long before the unit realizes it. Serial numbers and cage numbers are all recorded and traced. So when a particular item goes missing - its sent to CID that a "sensitive item" is missing. And CID will check places like Ebay, IG, Cragslist for people selling that missing item with the corresponding serial or cage number. This item like you said seems to be alittle outdated so I dont think CID is looking for this plate in particular anymore but in the future if you do acquire anything like this that isnt sold to the public - it was "acquired" and then sold to someone in the public and CID is looking for it. So just for safety, dont show cage numbers or serial numbers. You typically wont get in trouble, but theyll 100 percent ask you who you got that from.
