The only one we should learn from and emulate is Jesus who died for us. Alan's life will end in an eternal punishment for rejecting Christ. What's to learn?
McLean Stevenson, Wayne Rogers, Larry Linville, Harry Morgan, William Christopher, David Ogden Stiers...RIP Alan Alda, Loretta Swit, Mike Farrell, Jamie Farr, Gary Burghoff...all still with us, fortunately.
@@tavives Jamie Farr seems to be doing the best so far, not that it's a competition, but the one interview I saw of him, other than a full head of grey hair, he really didn't seem or sound any different than during the show.
yes its very sad. Jamie Farr is still around. Lorata Switt has responded to my comments on her facebook account. I was in highschool when Mash was around. I loved watching it and the quick wit and humor was funny! God, I should have exercised that in classroom and get funny laughter.
I didn’t realise this. I love Alan Alda, lovely man, but didn’t realise this until lately. My sister was diagnosed two years with Parkinson’s and she has had a quite prominent tremor and has forgetfulness plus gets very tired. Great to see Alan doing so well.
I sadly only came across this today after watching him getting his SAG award and seeing his hand shaking and knew something was wrong and looked it up and here I am. I grew up with this man on my TV in M.A.S.H., my whole family loved watching the show and Alan was the reason. I'm sorry to hear he has this terrible condition, but so happy to hear how positive he is about it. He is right that he is a lot luckier than a lot of people, he is 84, has had a long and happy career, has money so will have the best treatments and care, but it's still so sad that in this day and age, with science bringing us so far, we still have people suffering and it breaks my heart that another person, I may not know personally but, has meant a lot to me has to go through this. All the best Mr Alda, and thank you for everything.
Absolute role model of a man. Simply love him. I saw Alda presenting his biography in NYC in 2007 and was absolutely blown away by his presence, his kindness. Role model ever since, blueprint of a man. Go on Alan, all the best!
Sir, I take a deep breath. I’m 49 years young. You are an amazing human being. I love your acting you’re directing your human nature and so much more than I should take time for now. I’m horrible at being short, the 32nd elevator speech. When I worked at a hospital for 10+ years I met a woman who drastically changed my life when I went up as a an executive chef to talk to our patients, to me they were personal and our clients and I wanted to make sure they got the best food in quality that they expected like a Ritz Carlton yet ironically in a hospital. This woman said to me and I was with my executive director at the time which was wonderful but I still don’t know if he caught it as I did, she had Parkinson’s disease. I went up there with a smile on my face to ask how her meal was without looking at the board on the wall defined out basic information of her diet outside of her name and really stab myself in the back by being so ignorant by not realizing what her position was. When I naturally asked her how her food was without thinking what tired she was on she said she didn’t eat, doesn’t want to eat and just wants to die. I asked her does she need help she said yes, God will help me and I just want to go no. And I asked why and she said because she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She was so sad and normally when I bring food to people it made them happy because they weren’t being stuck with needles or being given medicine or being drowned in tests that made them uncomfortable but this beautiful beautiful woman I couldn’t help. The only thing I could do was listen she didn’t want any food or what I consider food to be a sustenance for the soul as well as the body she just wanted to be heard and she wanted to be allowed to go. I am trying my entire life to help so many people through food or entertainment to make them smile, to change their day but I finally met somebody who after I asked what can I do for you how can I make you happy, her response again was, I just wanna die. How do you respond to that. She was shaking terribly bad. I hope and pray she’s in a comfortable spot now. Sorry for the lengthy response. Mr. Alan Alda, I’ve always looked up to you and your characters and you’re directing and the people that you’ve worked with, maybe there something that I could take from that and help other people as I wished I could’ve helped this person. She did say thank you to me, I think there was more of a courtesy but what a beautiful Woman she was in so many different facets. Hi Babel, I apologize. Mr. Alda, thank you for your talents your entertainment you’re directing and I wish you and your family the best and please don’t be sad, we know, I look up to you as I looked after this woman who I’ve only spoken to for10 minutes. What a life changing direction
Alan Alda, I love this man, still the same wickedly funny demeanor, smile, good looking, just a bit older, "everyone has some kind of disease" just, "maybe not medical"!!
I still watch MASH. Alan Alda represents the very best of humanity. Without Hawkeye there would be no MASH. They say all good things must come to an end. I hate that expression with all of my heart. God bless you Mr Alda.
Alan Alda, , Thank you for all the laughs along the years, and educational information you have shared over the years. I wish you the very Best ! best Regards ,,,,, Ric
This man is awesome I'm glad he got an award finally my grandfather has Parkinson's and he is in an a nursing home now I love love love watching MASH every time I even watched it with my grandfather
He's 82 years old her. Alan has had a good career as actor and writer. Parkinson's is such an awful thing to get. My grandad and uncle passed from it and my mom was recently diagnosed.
An excellent segment. An insightful discussion. Good for you Mr. Alda for communicating your health issue in this manner. I was sorry to see how the segment was rushed at the end however. Morning network time is expensive and 'they' needed the time to move on to the latest nonsense that they consider news. This could have been a half hour feature that would enlighten and support an audience famished for relevant, relatable 'NEWS'. Thank you CBS, AND you could have done better.
I love Alan Alda, been watching MASH with my family since I was a kid and he's always come across as an intelligent and thoughtful person, especially with the wisdom of his older age now. I find that these days in his more recent interviews and tv appearances he's often kind of pitied/dismissed by younger hosts due to his slowness/shakiness but this man has so much to say and I love listening to his take on communication and science. He also has such a dry wit that reminds me of my father, though he seems to be a bit more sentimental now. Legend.
Growing up with this show from the time i was..?? 7 to see the change in Alan is.......Tough. I know we all get older but this is difficult. He was such a vivid wise cracking smart vital guy on the show. I identified with his smart ass feisty personality.
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED MASH AND SPIRIT OF HIM AND THE SPIRIT OF HAWKEYE SOFTLY SMILEZ ... HE'S VERY SPECIAL TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW HIM PERSONALLY.. YOU ALWAYS HAVE BEEN IN MY HEART FOR YEARS NOW 💞🌹 ... SO SPECIAL TO THE WORLD 💜❣️💕😌 BLESSED BE WITH YOU ALWAYS ❣️💕💜!!!
My father had Parkinson’s with Lewey Body dementia. His first symptom, years before we realized he was sick, was vivid dreams, often involving fighting. Sometimes he hit his wife in his sleep. He would tell us these dreams, they were so vivid.
I love Alan Alda & I'm really sorry that he has Parkinson's disease. I'll pray for him , his family & everyone else who has this horrible disease. 2 Thumbs Up to Alan Alda 👍👍
I'm so sad for him, as he is one of my idols, and Capt. Hawkeye Pierce is one of my lifetime role models. And I can't help but wonder what the M*A*S*H 4077 Chief Surgeon would advise present-day Alan Alda upon this diagnosis...
Probably the same thing he said to the General who tried to shanghai Hawkeye into being his personal physician... I don't remember it by heart but it was something like "you can live a long full life if you take my advice" kind of line. The advice was to take care of himself.
I finally was able to stymie Google when it said Alan died at the age of 52. No he didn't and if there is another Alan Alda, them I can't find him. Last I knew, he was alive at 83 years old. Google, stop lying!!
Why would it sadden you? Are you one of those so called Christians? Cant tolerate anyone not believing in your faery tale God? If you want to believe in nonsense go right ahead but dont force others to be as ignorant.
So, you say that you love this man. That means you must think very kindly of him and also I'm betting you think that Alan Alda is a wonderful person but you also think that your "God" would not let him into your special after death place.
We're not going to look, act or even feel the same forever- I love Alda, but he just talks so slow and seems borderline cantancorous now. I want to see the ER episodes he's done.
Compared to Michael Fox Alan looks like he is just wanting some attention. I don't see the characteristics of parkinsons with him. I see a fading actor looking for some attention !!!!!!!!!
He is doing this for a reason.... you are diagnosing him?! Not a fading actor at all. Listen to him, instead of judging based on what I suspect was a brief perusal of a meaty and informative interview.
Compared to MJF who has had Parkinsons for over 20 yrs of course there are going to be differences. Stage 1 Parkinsons youre not going to even notice much for the first 5 yrs. Alan Alda was diagnosed 3 yrs ago. He wouldnt be showing the signs that MJF has. You cant be serious that an accomplished actor such as Alan Alda would have to fake anything for attention. Smh
Seriously? You can't see brain injury or disorders like it's a wound on skin. I developed epilepsy due to multiple traumatic brain injuries after I had a stroke. I shake constantly, lose my train of thought and have difficulty speaking on occasion. The only thing people see from me regularly is an obvious limp and me using a walking stick or cane. Am I more or less sick than someone else who has a brain disease? Sick is sick no matter what people see openly or not.
This man oozes kindness. We could all learn something from how this man lives his life.
The only one we should learn from and emulate is Jesus who died for us. Alan's life will end in an eternal punishment for rejecting Christ. What's to learn?
@@paulsheffield4729 Alan Alda grew up in a Catholic home.
That's why he exudes kindness.
Now he's making his way back to the church, which is Christ.
@@paulsheffield4729 what a load of garbage!
We are blessed to still have him here as most of the MASH cast has passed on. He is so intelligent and articulate. What a great positive attitude!
Biatch P truly...I find him remarkable!

Comment Freely my thought as well.
He's 83.
January 28th 1936 is his date of birth.
1936 to 2019 is 83 years. Not 84.
C21L01 correct.
Such a talented man. Hope he is still doing well. Will not forget him.
wow this man oozes spirit and charisma at 84. A legend
The announcers fumbled their script, but Alan Alda was spot on. Love this man. Best of luck with fighting this diagnosis.
Alan Alda is a light in this world, I wish everyone was like him. Such a wonderful and strong man.
Alan Alda is one of mt long-time favorite actors! Such class and optimism...
Alan Alda is such a kind, wise and beautiful human being. He tops my list of People I’d Love To Meet.
