Enjoyed the video and learned a few things.
Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Thank you Greg for stopping in.
Great to have old iron become used useful once again. Thx Randy for taking time to walk through all the steps. Going to be a useful addition for the Anvil 👍.
Thank you Bear, Tahk care now.
After 5 days back in hospital, was a boost to watch and learn more on heat treating 👍👍. Work safe - Bee Safe, Bear.
Great vid Randy. You covered a lot of ground in this one. Awesome heat treating demo too. Thanks for the mention.
The block will be a very useful addition to your shop.
Only a month of Winter left here. I think about you every time I pickup one of your tools.
Thank you Lyle for stopping in. This is being a very handy tool here in the shop.
I have not paid a lot of attention to your videos lately Mr. Pete. I havn't seen too many Randy videos either. Very good video here.
I just wanted to let you know for what it's worth, To me, you were one of the first & the best in machine shop youtube land.
I smiled when Randy mentioned you. I bet a lot of people feel the same.
That is a beautiful project! I would definitely get the feet on there!
Yep the feet are. Thanks 3D for stopping in.
Randy - You should grind the V Groove. - Jim
One bench block done Randy Richard right. I have a couple of plastic ones and so far they
do all I need. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
Thank you Harold, I hope you are doing well.
Another nice tool, Randy. Enjoyed.
Thank you.
That was a fantastic build Randy, the block looks so useful especially with the V groove running down the middle. Outstanding! 😃👍
Thank you John.
Great job. Thank you 😊
Thank you Gary.
Great job on the bench anvil. You'll find a lot of uses for it.
Thank you Lee, works great.
Subed. Beautiful bench block! I have been working toward building a pair myself out of 4140. Because of yours, I have added a V groove. Great idea. I'm looking forward to your future videos.
Thank you for the sub. This block is really working out well, I love it.
Looks great Randy!
Thank you Greg. Love it.
Nice little project Randy and three cheers for Mr Pete
Thank you Doug.
Great Job
Thank you Larry.
Good afternoon Randy 😊 Nice use of cutoffs. I use my bench block all the time.
Thank you Craig.
Nice bench anvil plate Randy. I have found that some hardend steels do not fully re-harden the second time around...don't ask me why, metalurgists know but will kill us if they tell us lol!
Yeah, I am considering case hardening it. Thanks.
Great job Randy!
Thank you Phil, I love it.
Right On Randy! 🙌 Good Show! I enjoyed watching your heat treat process. That is one precise bench block! 👍
Right on Jon, if your going to make it, make it really good.
Thanks Randy....I especially enjoyed the heat treating portion. I wondered about the quenching process; first time I've seen that and wasn't sure how that sealed-in-SS foil method worked. I had heard about that from Stan but I can't recall ever actually seeing the quenching. Wasn't sure if you pierced the foil or not, but I guess it cools either way. Thanks for the insight and the cool projects we get to see.
Thank you Carl for stopping in. The foil works very well for reducing scale.
very good job Randy
Thank you Tr.
Well done!
Thank you.
If you take the anvil out of the foil before quenching it will end up harder and more consistent
Always good to see something useful arise our of something that was spent scrap. Great bench block Randy. It should come in very handy and loved to see the crap catching grove at the bottom of the V-grove, great finishing touch, very Professional looking block the only thing lacking to my 82 year old eyes are those old time Case Harding colors from those lovely vintage tools that always look so cool but it is a working bench block not a Picasso, it will do just fine as is. Great job Randy, love it.
Thank you John, yep is doing its job well.
Mr Pete gets my vote too!
For sure, Thank you
nice tool!
Glad you like it! Thank you
I like it!
Thank you Warren, I love it.
Nice little project Randy. I'm in agreement with skipping the tempering.
Good choice on the music...
ATB....
Thank you Dean. Works great.
randy, I love it! Cool the music please, the auto tune is like fingernails on a chalk board! 😊
Thank you.
Nice bench block. Thats the one I would like. Bigger is better.
Thank you Randy, this is great.
I was guessing that they originally case-hardened the cutter blades. The fact that you have harder areas where the carbon from the paper soaked in tells me that I may be right about that.
Yes that may be what happened. I am thinking of case hardening the block. Thank you for stopping in.
Looking good.
Thank you Don. Your still kicken, I hope you are doing well.
New subscriber, second post! Very impressive work! I need to make time to review your library! Good job man!
Thank you for subing. Thanks for stopping in.
I like your shop, looks like you could handle just about anything. We follow a couple of the same channels, that is how I got to your channel. Until your next post!@@RRINTHESHOP

Nice.
Good video, nice work. You might edit the pop country music a little lower in volume, especially when you are speaking.
Thank you, I don't know why.
thank you for spending time making the video. what size of hot shot oven? do you need a bigger one?
I have a 1200 size Hot Shot. Not right now , Thank you.
The music in the middle was kind of loud of your talking I could barely make out what you were saying.
Thanks Brian, Yeah I don't know why.
Makes me feel guilty for throwing all the spent cutting edges I changed when I was working in mining.
Oh yeah great stuff, after anneal. Thanks for stopping in.
Link to background soundtrack playing at the start of this video, please....
Don't know where I got it. Thanks.
Not so much the carbon content It is High in Manganese.
You can tell when you cut it with a torch lots of smoke and fine sparks.
Thank you for the info.
Good video, but please kill the music.
Thank you.
No music can't here you talking
Thank you, I don't know why.
