- A "guitar cam" bracket video...one of my personal favourites, an old Pink Floyd number. I can't help but get right into this song, so forgive me for my ever-increasing tempo and volume, I just get too excited!

I love how you captured the 12 string sound by pairing strings. It’s just absolutely beautiful
Thanks! That's what I hear when I listen to the studio recording, so that's how I feel it should be played!
I didn't know your channel. I was looking for "Wish You Were Here fingerstyle" and I really liked what I saw. Congratulation.
greetings from Brazil
Marcos Vinicius
Thank you so much! What a performance! I
this is beautiful
Assignments and uni work used to stress me out (a long time ago) so I'm glad to have helped out!
JAW
No need - yours can do the same, if not better, just practise, practise, practise. Okay, that sounds kinda lame but that's really all there is to it. I don't think I'm anything special or good, I've just put the time in. Over thirty plus years, but really, you could exceed this in far less. I mucked around a lot. Worked a day job. Have three kids. Let it go for a few years. Played electric. Played chords. Tried to sing. And so on. A really dedicated player, with practise...well... :)
This is really good.
I wish you were here...to teach it to me....Maybe you could break it down in sections, Would be nice for hack like me.lol
Thanks.
Rick.
This is by far the best cover acoustic of this song! I was stressed out with my assignments and uni work. But this soothing masterpiece of yours, it calmed me down. Thank you!
love how you have Gilmours sniff and cough! excellent playing!
I made a cover from this song thanks to you! It is already in my channel. thank you for teaching me!
very nice! I am working on your tabs now
can you please make an how to Play
A radio filter would be cheating...if it doesn't come au natural then I won't do it! I used to play it very tight down near the bridge to simulate a radio feel (no bass response) but nobody "got it" so I just play it a bit quieter to start with. Flamenco all the way, sometime I get over excited and overdo the flamenco, I kept it subtle in this rendition :)
Thanks!
JAW
I love the cover! I was worried that this song might not sound too well on a classical, but you proved me wrong! Actually, is this a classical or a flamenco guitar? Would you mind sharing the brand and model? Thanks
Straight up classical. Esteve 1GR11, made in 2002, Spanish I believe. I wrote about it a while back here: www.jawmunji.com/2010/01/new-guitar.html
Thanks!
JAW
Mostly, but there is a little bit of fingertip involved. I can't play solely off fingernails and I don't like playing just on fingertips - some nail gives me my favourite touch :)
JAW
Hello, is your transcription available, I only play on a classical guitar, where polyphony interests me more than folk interpretations, I am French
Yes! You can find it at jawmunji.com 👍
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And how we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here
Perfect man! great fingerstyle
are you stumming mostly with your nails?
That was the second take...but I had recorded a version a few weeks back. I probably play this song a few times a months so it's pretty fresh. There are a few fubs in there that bothered me, and I will admit to punching out two minor mistakes, but perfectionism is a curse! Don't let it stop you from doing stuff!
JAW
Standard tuning - look for the "common" chord shapes, G, C, D, that's how you will recognise standard stuning...although this angle is not the most obvious for seeing the shapes, and I don't play all the common chords with the standard finger pattern either! Thanks, I really like playing this song :)
JAW
That was a special touch for the hard core fans. Since you picked it up, you are a hard core fan, and I salute you :)
JAW

Wow, nice work on the 12 string imitation on the intro melody.... and on the song overall :)
Bravo c'est très bien joué !
Superbe !!!
Nice one! How many takes to get this down, just out of interest?
what tuning are you in? great cover by the way, probably one of the best ive seen on youtube
... I feel butterflies in my stomach, my heart feels like fresh, my mind is floating, and I'm crying... Only the original song can do that! You did an amazing job! I love it
Thanks! Yeah, this song is the best...well everything from Pink Floyd is the best! Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes, JAW
Great arrangement!! Man I still remember your canon in D covers back then :D. How long did it take you to play this song?
+Chau Ngo I've been playing this song in various forms since the 90's...but this particular version, I'd nailed down by around 2008. I needed the previous 30 years of playing to reach this point though ;-) So if you are thinking how long does it take to be able to arrange something like this and play it? How long is a piece of string? Talented guys will do it with a lot of hard work in under 10 years - or much less. Slow and steady hobbyists like me, yeah, 30 years...or never! It's all about just keeping on playing the guitar when you can, always pushing yourself further, and enjoying it. Rock on Chau!
JAW
Cool idea, really shows the fingering well. What type of camera/mount do you use?
That was a DIY mount (which is too heavy) with a handycam style camera. I'm thinking if you were to set this up you'd use a gopro or similar and one of their standard clamp on mounts. Good fun!
JAW
Beautiful, congratulations!
This is great for singng along to.
Absolutely amazing!!
genial, tocas muy bien, saludos desde Perú
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing!

Damn dude, I wish I could play like you.
Amazing, such a good arrangement!
A great song - nicely done.
Thank you!
OMG this is just inspirational!
Couldn't find tabs
THE BEST COVER I FOUND !!
BRAVO !!
The coughing is very cool :D
Really beautiful.. Awesome!
That was absolutely fantastic!
Is this the same version as the other video you posted? Same tabs too?
Pretty much. There might be a few subtle differences, I constantly tweak things, but nothing drastic. Your best bet with learning fingerstyle is to get the main idea from the tabs (if available), watching the video, and then develop it into the style you play. Well, given that you have already spent some time developing your own fingerstyle; if it's all very new then yeah, learn some pieces in other player's style that you like until you have established a style of your own. Start with the easier stuff - don't try and take on something well beyond your current skill level (push yourself though, don't stay in your comfort zone all the time) - and work from there!
WoW you are wonderful !!
Brilliant
THIS IS SOO GOOD
I love it 😍💖
Just great!
Wow that was really amazing.! Absolutely loved that.!
Thanks mate! Yep, she's a great song, still play it to this day :-)
jawmunji your welcome.! I’ve learned the intro using a pick, just started on fingerstyle. Man I wish I could play like you.!!
Putting the pick down - now you're talkin'! Don't try to copy every note I play, make it work for you. Sky's the limit, full freedom. As simple, or as hard as you like. Do as much or as little as you want. I'm still varying this song - I like to slip a bass B note after the C chord as I step down to Am, sounds ace, challenging to concentrate on the melody at the same time though! Always learning, never stops. Good skill in your journey! :-)
jawmunji thank you.! I really do love it, I’m currently working on a beginner version of stand by me. So hoping with time and practice I’ll get upto a decent standard. 😃
Where do you get the tabs from
Amy Cox Here you go, jaw.ii.net/cgi-bin/showtab.cgi?JAW%20-%20Wish%20You%20Were%20Here
