Just been re watching all your videos again as I'm heading back to the broads for 11 nights early April and they remain as excellent now as when I first watched them. I know you've still not done it but thanks to your blogs I did go to Surlingham broad and mud weighted overnight on the broad last time I was on the broads. It was such a fantastic mooring and a magical, majestic and peaceful experience that I went back again a couple of nights later. I fully intend to spend a couple of nights back on the broad in April. Without a doubt my favourite place in all the Norfolk Broads. Keep up the brilliant work.
Excellent video. We also moored at Rockland St Mary when we were afloat in May. Fortunately, one of the locals pointed us in the direction of the post office. 'It's just up there' he said. We had 2 dogs with us, it was hot and I thought that after a bit that he was having a laugh at the expense of us poor tourists... He probably was, as he should have said it's about a mile that way. It was a bit of a trek, it felt much longer, but worth it.
i really like the camera angle on the side of the boat, think that be awesome for future blog, trusting the suction pad to hold the camera and not to fall in your choose of course, also you can get the head touch type thinks for the go pro camera, could do like mooring shots with it, few ideas thought be cool :)
Just watching your blog buy the way they are great but on about diesel there's a little boat yard at Sutton staith only charges £1.00 a litre I topped up and got more money back when returned my boat back at end of my holiday .all the very best with your New boat it looks fantastic
as in my comment on day 3 we stopped at pacific boat hire on the way back from Norwich as we stopped at the pub by cantley on day 2 and stayed overnight had an evening meal in the pub I had fish and chips and the amount of large bones that was in the fish put me right off my meal but the breakfast we had the following morning made up for it and we left the cantley at 9.30 and arrived at Norwich a few hrs later stayed 2 nights in Norwich then headed for oulton thats when we stopped at pacific as time was getting on we stopped at cantley because it had rained most of the day and the sun only broke through as we decided to moor up but we didn't intend to stay but we got told moor rain was due accompanied by heavy winds and thunder but not of it materialised
to rockland st marys you should have turned right coming out of the staith, as you would immediately start walking along a pavement all the way to the village, I thought when you said turn left out of the staithe for the village that it was the wrong way and its right
As always great videos and information. However standing outside of a guardrail even with a life jacket, bouncy aid, to drop mud weight should not be recommended. Please ensure safety at all times. Stephen member and coastal skipper RYA
Thanks for the comment - but because of the design of Royale, doing as you suggest is not possible. The guardrails are well inboard for the side decks, so it would not be possible to be 'inside' them so to speak as one would then be standing on the forward cabin roof. I tend to take safety seriously, and as you will note always had 'one hand for the boat' when I was walking on deck and deploying the mudweight. Many boats for hire on the Broads do not have any form of safety rail at the bow and no hand rail close by to hold on to being use to this set up therefore one just needs to take a steady common sense approach - the main issue making sure your foot is not in anyway going to be tangled up in the rope once you drop the mudweight.
Thanks for the feed back, please do keep up with the blogs. i was not suggesting that you do not take safety seriously. moreover you have demonstrated this approach many times. However i still disagree, being born in Norwich and spending my youth and trained on the suffolk broads. These days I now spend my time sailing on the west coast of scotland in a 33ft yacht. In the near future 2015 i am looking to purchase a broads cruiser 4 berths min for me and the wife in retirement just a holiday thing. I will say your blogs have focus me to get back to the broads ,i thank you for that Stephen member and coastal skipper RYA .
Richard Attenborough eat your heart out he should look on you tube and find this underwater footage filmed on a cheap camera unlike what he shoots on his expensive equipment just shows what can be filmed on a cheapish camera
Norfolk has some of the most beautiful places to visit in the country. People should visit it more often, you would not regret it.
Excellent as always. Plenty of good information and with good humour. 4 hours 75 minutes? Priceless! LOL

Love your videos but wish you would make them available to view on mobile devices as well as desktop pc's

Thanks - Boulters in Horning also do fuel for £1.00 a litre but are a harder yard to get into and out of.

Isn't four hours and seventy five minutes, really five hours and fifteen minutes??
