I found a box in my attic today, my dad used to be a bit of a puzzle nut. In the box it was mostly those tavern metal puzzles. But I managed to find some goodies for my puzzle collection which are more like twisty puzzles. This one was included, and oh man I've been scouring websites looking for it. Glad to finally find it. Although, I'm sad to report mine is missing one "edge" and this whole time I've been assuming it was a sliding block puzzle. I'll be honest, turning the "faces" isn't quite as satisfying as rotating them individually. If you're curious, I also pulled an original alexander's star from 1982, complete with the cheap stickers and low grade plastic. There was also an unusual find of a TOMY megaminx, which are no longer available and sell for upwards of $50 USD. Unfortunately, someone back in time thought moving the stickers around was a great idea, and the color scheme is just awful. Two identical shades of red and yellow. It's also stiff as a rock, so not the best quality around, but it is one of the first megaminx designs to be produced. Thanks for the video on the ball puzzle, and sorry for the necro comment :b
Same' thing happened to mine and mine was also hard to turn. After playing with it, the center discs broke off and/or cracked. I ended up replacing some of them with wide flexible plastic washers on screws with nuts glued on the screws inside the core which helped get it back into working condition. But of course it shouldn't break through normal play and it was uncomfortable to turn so it was a rather disappointing puzzle for me overall. Also, what players "can" do with this puzzle is remove one piece and it becomes like a 3D slide puzzle. So it's designed to be like two puzzles in one. Chances are making it into a slide puzzle before it outright breaks is the best option since sliding pieces is not harsh on the center pieces. Plus it's much easier to play around with that way. Though of course it doesn't have nearly the challenge turning 5 pieces at a time has.
One of the centers broke for me too! Except for me it was the regular 3x3x3 where the blue center broke into 2 pieces. I tried super-glueing it but it got squeaky then later broke again. :(
Please please i am begging u do a tutorial on this i bought a mixes one and i srsly cannot solve it and, to make it worse, there are two of each colour but if u made a tutorial id be ok so plzplzplz do a tutorial
