I find it funny to imagine that off camera there is someone on an exercise bike cycling really fast for the belt sander
in pre-modern times knife shops, if water power wasnt available, wheels were turned by a human on a treadmill, seriously, turning big gear wheels with ropes as belts.
Well, That was my own made sketch of this sword but it was pretty sharp and it seems me something like BAT MAN'S SWORD :D Enjoy the video.

I don't think he is a teenager and hes been ignoring solid advice for years now. You're right that we all have to start somewhere but he started a long time ago and is still making some of the same mistakes, I'm just happy hes settled down with the brass.

Nice decorative piece but with such an insubstantial tang and how narrow it is by the guard I wonder what kind of beating this would take? Have you tried whacking anything more substantial than a piece of paper? How did it hold up? You could probably do some damage with that pommel!!!
After watching the video when he turned an old rifle into a katana I wouldn't be surprised if people will be like "that bearing could have been very useful, just clean out the rust"

Might I just ask why the name you took sounds so sketchy?
There are already enough comments about the fractures and trying to cold forge, so I'll leave that alone, but I did notice your hammer appears to have very sharp edges.
Following some observations made by other blacksmiths; you may wish to round off the edges of the head so one side has bevelled edges, while the other is more like a large flattened ball shape, they give you more/better forging options and may help reduce the number of sharp defects in your work.
Either way, keep up the good work on learning a profession thats harder than most realize.

You can't keep hammering on the steel when it loses the nice orange color. You are hammering cold steel and introducing stress fractures, which were clearly visible in your video. One whack in the wrong spot and that blade will shatter like glass. Good to see you making something from scratch though. Keep it up.

I appreciate you don't have the resources of many makers, but a 2cm tang isn't a money or tools issue. It simply makes no sense.
