I’ve acquired half an engine and from this I’ve figured out how the crankcases bolt back together, nice video Pete, this explains quite a bit for me, top job
My brother owned an M model and rode it everywhere. Then I got it. That bike did over 60,000 miles and was still going with a new set of rings about 40,000 miles. We never had to touch it so I've never seen one apart.
Great stuff 👍, I'm no mechanic but still enjoy watching these videos, some great advice here, only acquired a kettle recently and still waiting for the spring to put some miles on it, already filled my 2stroke tank to the top, I'll maybe drain some out now!!👍👍
if any of those lower half case bolts really put up a fight and you were afraid that one might break while attempting to loosen, you could take a punch and give a few sharp whacks , straight into the top of the bolt head, that tends to loosen the bolt threads in their case counterparts, usually helps some. very fun watching this video series, thanks for showing us. wb
Hi mate just a couple of points,. PLEASE put foam pipe frost tube onto con rods when stripping and building up to prevent a weakening nic in them, secondly use wooden wedges to help split cases as won't damage mating faces and stops cases fulling back together again. Another GT idiot 😁
The conrods are being replaced with new, but even if they were not being replaced it's very unlikely that aluminium crankcases would put a nick in steel conrods, but thankyou for your comments
No problems. I used to build TZ and TRs as well as road versions for guy's and seen broken rods through that, just good practice. Like the vids and will encourage people to give it a go, mostly common sense and patients.
Peter, thanks for offering these videos to the public. Enormously helpful!
Thank you Lars, I hope to have some more up soon

Hi Keith
I generally put about 1 litre in the oil tank especially over the winter period

Thank you very much for the teaching. Do the water pumps hold up good Pete?
Excellent video.
Thank you Michael

That's my normal voice when I'm speaking clearly and not swearing at you on the phone 😇
