    I've been trying to teach my son some chess techniques following your pawn endgame videos, and as I was explaining "trousers" to him, he surprised me with a genius analogy he uses to conceptualize it. He thinks of the position as "leaky pipes", where water (the pawns) is dripping down the pipes (open files), and the opponent's King is trying to catch the water drops with a bucket so his floor doesn't get wet (pawns promote).
    It seemed so intuitive and simple that we call it 'leaky pipes' now instead of trousers.

      @@klausheinherfaur6932 I started a children's chess club in Waxhaw, NC. A five year old explained how he sees the knight move as this: move the knight one square in the horizontal or vertical direction, and then from there move to the desired diagonal square!

      When I consider 1…f6, I like to think of it as the key move of a mirrored Caro-Kann system: 1.d4 f6.

    18:39 Taking the extra pawn on a7 actually looks quite dangerous because there might be ideas of c6 which restricts the light-squared bishop’s escape squares and black might gain quite a bit of activity on the queenside. Maybe Bxa7 c6 and immediately Be3? Retreating everything? Idk.

    You should rebrand the Jobava london course and start referring to it as the Jobava system from now on. I've tried recommending it to friends and everyone assumes that it is a boring opening because of the "london" part of the name.

      I thought the same at first, but then I realized this game addresses my difficulty to punish trolling openings. it's a very interesting theme. besides, the rook trap is quite nice to learn.

      I also had my doubts about investing time but I did and find it instructive again. More often than not, games turn out to be outside of conventional theory and you have to adept to that. This helps improve my thinking process, probably a lot. (had my best chess night ever yesterday).

      Im struggling to explain. When his opponent wins or loses his opponent is gaining or losing hundreds of elo at a time cuz he doesnt have enough games played yet, and so his rating isnt really a true reflection of his strength.

      "provision" is providing/supplying.. when you're a new player in a pool of players, it's not clear what your elo should be, but you're provided with some elo, and it will take some games before it settles to a more accurate elo.
