Yes, I used flex pipe to use the restricted water from Canal Also used same tech to pump the Diesel from main Tank to small Tank around 45 Years ago. That works

No need to such complicated process like that. The law of gravity is applied if the river is higher than the farm all you need is flexible hose fill with water as a starter.

Yipp.... simple syphoning principal Sammy..use a Rubber mallet or block of wood as Dolly, when tapping your HDP fittings with less risk of cracking or splitting them..!!

That is not a pump. It is a siphon. With one side higher than the other, like this is, water will easily SIPHON from one side to the other. At first I thought he was going to make a ram pump but this is just a siphon.

So far my observation goes that the height of waterfilled funnel nearest to the source should be more than the hieght of that nearest to the water supplying point and before both the funnels are filled in water the supplying end of the pipe should remain tightly closed ,This is my o.bservation asking the comments from the experts
