The Astros are as complete a team as it gets. If the starting pitching is struggling, there's a bullpen and offense that can get the job done more times than not.
edit: to my point, they walk Alvarez intentionally, thinking they avoided serious damage but they fail to acknowledge Breggy right behind him as another fantastic hitter. Almost every Astros hitter is gonna give you problems, so intentional walks rarely make a difference.
I agree, but I understand what the mariners manager was trying to do there. Breggy doesn’t hit the long ball like Yordan does, but can put it in play.
I really don’t remember the lineup but the announcer said. Astros is full of good players. You try to get over Alvarez safely but then you realize there’s tucker you now have to face so it’s really a challenge 😂
They did the right thing though. Probability says Yordan is more likely to get a hit (let alone a home run) compared to the other hitters. Doesn't mean the other hitters are bad, it just means if there were 2 bowls of skittles (that you have to eat from) with 1 bowl having 20 skittles out of 100 that would poison you, and the other only 10 skittles that would poison you, you'll take the 1 with 10 every time, even if it's almost as likely to get poisoned.

If Peña did not get that pop up hit, Alvarez still could hit hit a homer in the next inning, but only 1run, so that means If Yuli did not catch that ball in the 9th, that would have at least tied the game, it would have been runners on 1st and 2nd for J Rod and he got a double, would have at least scored a run or 2

That shady commentator said that the Mariners got a couple of borderline calls that didn’t go their way, but what he didn’t say is that the Astros had even more borderline calls that didn’t go their way, but I didn’t see him cry about it for the Astros! The Mariners lived off of walks and refused to swing at anything that wasn’t 100% clear-cut strikes, but expected the umpire to call everything that was 50/50 their way all the time! That can’t be fair to the Astros who had more borderline calls that didn’t go their way.
The fact of the matter is that the Mariners expected the umpire to call the game in their favor so that they could win and that’s why they refused to swing at anything that was less than pefect pitches, but this requires a favorable umpire that is sympathetic to their cause, which is illegal according to the rules of the game! Anyway, this explains why the Mariners got so many more walks than the Astros.
The Mariners expected to get lots of walks in order to get on base, the Astros got on base by hitting the damn ball! If you refused to swing at good, hittable pitches that come your way don’t cry if the umpire calls a strike on you! Overall, I think this umpire did a fantastic job of officiating the game! He was fair to both teams! That is all you can ever ask for from an umpire!
I concur with your statement. I also believe that comments are not in favor of the Astros in general across the board in MLB. I could only watch two innings of the first game, then I shut it off and tune in to Robert Ford on the radio and lived both games that way. Once the post season goes national I feel the Astros are not appreciated, but whatever I've been Astro since a kid and i am Grey now and for the good times and bad times, I will support them.
