      Rob well I mean technically, he was. The qb would have theoretically been the last defender had the dude that intercepted it broke all the way through the defense. Block his ass out of the play, and ya don’t have to worry about him tackling the guy. 6 points added going into halftime. What team wouldn’t want that? Points, momentum going into the second half. However, with that being said, I think that the play was dead and he continued to block the fuk out of him so it probably should have been a flag

    At absolute BARE MINIMUM, the first incident of #94 repeatedly pile driving the QB into the ground warranted a Personal Foul, and the Late Hit Out of Bounds warranted a SECOND Personal Foul and an Ejection. I'd have been fine with them ejecting him after the first incident, but not ejecting him after both incidents combined is indefensible.

      But anyway, sometimes byu's best players, skill position players, weren't lds. I'm more talking about 1996 team that was 14-1, with the Sarkisians and Ronney Jenkins, and those greats.

    That was a very dirty play. Number 94 should have been ejected from the game. It is perfectly okay to block the QB after an interception. That's what number 34 did. It's just good football. What number 94 did falls in the category of unnecessary roughness. The intent was to injure the QB. That's NEVER cool. And, it's NOT the fact the player he was trying to injure was the QB. It's never cool to try to injure anyone!

And while that rule might be stupid and misused, it was placed in there expressly for crap like this, where the purpose of the hit is nothing but to injure an important opposing player. Ironically, the one time targeting actually would have been a good call, the refs didn't flag it.

Not to mention the QB who was targeted here is a top draft pick in the upcoming draft. You say we're soft till it happens to you or someone on your favorite team. This is all illegal, and as a part time football ref, there were at least two, arguably three instances of illegal action. You can block, but driving a QB's head to the ground and trying to injure him is textbook targeting, grounds for ejection. And the late hit near the sidelines, also illegal. 94 can't do that.

      what do you mean coastal was 5-6 last year and now is beating arguably top 10 teams how is that making them look worse they were out sized out matched and in some aspects out-coached but played smart hardnosed football and came out with a win football isn't an art you smash people for 60 minutes and whoever smashed harder wins they beat byu on a shirt schedule and now are looking pretty well but they played dirty right, honestly a great win and at the end of the game when byu was diwn you saw some shoving and at one point holding people down and shoving them but that's because they got beat

    Never should have banned the chop block. Back in the day, Tackle and TE would have high lowed 94 a few times, and chilled him right out.

      Football just needs to adopt an atmosphere more like Hockey, play dirty and someone's going to send a "message". Let the Players police themselves to an extent and you won't have guys pulling this while trying to hide behind a dumbass technicality in the rules. 94 probably would have given that a second thought if he figured some big ass lineman might actually beat his ass or ruin any chance he had at playing (or walking) again.
