  • CLASSIC! On First Take, Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless argue about Brett Favre. I do not own this video, ESPN does. I uploaded this here for discussion purposes.

    Why does Skip Bayless constantly rip Rodgers for the 2009 wildcard loss? He put up 40+ points. Everybody and their mother would put that game on the defense. Does anybody take this guy seriously?

    • @lt0295
      @lt0295 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +flerper derper Not really. Brett Favre never helped Aaron Rodgers when Rodgers was his backup. And he kept doing the whole "I'm retiring... no wait no I'm not." at the end and A-Rod was THIS CLOSE to becoming a free agent and leaving the team. But finally the Packers said that it was enough and did not accept Brett Favre back. Best decision they ever made. They gave the kid a chance and he turned out to be the greatest QB to ever walk on a football field. And you KNOW Favre recognized that. That's why he never helped him. I can remember, as a Packers fan, my heart sinking when Packers announced that Favre was no longer their QB. I remember the terror of uncertainty. Then, I remember my joy when I saw Aaron Rodgers go to work. That man is a legend.

      Logan Thomas Yeah... He is really playing great atm haha..
      I know that he has done great the first part of his career but if he doesn't keep it up or doesn't play better in the playoffs, he isn't gonna go down as the GOAT. To say that he is the GOAT already is ridiculous. Especially in light of this year. I know that one year doesn't determine the overall greatness of a player but half a career doesn't either. And if he doesn't pick up his play then he can kiss the GOAT title goodbye...
      But I am not surprised that a Packers fan would say something like that...

    skip hit the nail on the head. he said the packers gave up 2-3 years worth of super bowl runs when favre left them. that's exactly what happened. 08 - Favre had the Jets as the afc fav at 8-3 after knocking off undef titans until he tore his shoulder. 09 - Favre takes another new team to within field goal range of a super bowl despite the bounties until they got the 12 men in the huddle call. in 08 the packers added even more talent - clay and finley - and it took them 2 more yrs before they won

      Daniel Negus Dan Marino career completion percentage is under 60%.. His single-season passer rating was above 100 only one time in his career, the '84 season when he broke all the records & took the Dolphins to the Super Bowl. Beyond that, he only topped a single-season passer rating on 90 two other times.Compare that Steve Young, who led the NFL in passer rating 6 times, topping the 100 mark 5 of them, and only finished under 90 one time his whole career as a starter.

    Yea. Brett could have handled it better, cause it seems like he retired after the non-pursuit of Moss. If you remember, after Moss signed with NE, day after Favre retired. There was a news article from a front office personnel that confirmed it. So Favre was rash in doing so, but to his point, TT wouldn't give him pieces. Now imagine u are Brett, and here Rodgers comes in and u drafted receivers, TE, lineman left and right for him. AND they already have top 5 offense. I'd be mad TOO.

    I say Marino because Marino never won a super bowl, yet he's widely considered one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Anyways, not all players who win championships are the best at their position or even great players. Using the number of super bowls won is a crappy way of determining how great a player is.

Rodger as Great as he become in 2008 that was his 1st season as a starter so it easy for the lack of experience of being able to get a Super Bowl team to the Super Bowl that way. Had Favre been starting that year it would have been different.

I'd take him in a foxhole anytime over Rodgers. If you hated Favre, it was because you feared what he could do to your team at any given moment. How about the fact that when Favre asked to get replacement for receivers, he gives him a lb and a qb (Although Rodgers is a BEAST). Let's not forget he literally told Favre that he could win with the receivers GB had at the time (2007). Yet, he drafts Jordy high in the 2nd, Finley, and then Cobb for Aaron. Why didn't he tell Aaron he could win with those same receivers? Now u wonder why Favre would be pissed

    None of the points made by these guys address the substance of Brett's comments on the radio show. Brett was complimenting the quality of the Packers as a team. By expressing surprise that the Packers did not win a Super Bowl sooner, Brett was merely implying that the Packers were and continue to be a Championship caliber football team. That type of comment has nothing to do with Brett as a quarterback compared to Aaron Rodgers

I usually don't argue against Packers fan (except the ones that think Favre turned his back on GB (the bandwagon ones)) because we support the same team. All I'm saying is that TT didn't end the relationship well because of the business ideals he has (which he doesn't seem to follow). For all the fans who got mad cause he went to minny, it's dumb. It's a business. Someone else wants you and you still want to play. Who wouldn't?

    ...now let's take a deep breath and read slowly: "favre: surprised aaron rodgers didn't win title sooner". it can be interpreted two ways: 1. "rodgers should have won earlier when favre was still starting qb" - giving well deserved credit to himself, and 2. "rodgers should have won in the first two seasons after favre's departure" - also giving well deserved credit to rodgers at the same time. but the real genius of the comment is that both meanings are true and don't exclude each other!...

    Casey Hayward I think will be a beast. Nick Perry (I HOPE will be a beast). Jerel Worthy was a steal if he produces anything like what he did for msu (even if he is a little inconsistent). I think the Packers are the clear favorite to win the whole damn thing. But seriously the D should look like this:
    DT: B.J., N.T. Worthy/Picket, RDT: Picket/Neal(after susp.)
    LBs: Clay, Perry, Smith, Bishop
    CBs: Williams, Hayward, Shields, Bush
    SS: Burnett(hands like FS)
    FS: Charles.

    I never said he was, I only mentioned that he gave Sterling one of his Superbowl rings. He played for the Broncos and the Ravens. He finished his career with one more short stint with the Broncos, I believe.

    keep in mind Fan voting didnt exist when Favre won his SB. Not that Rodgers didn't deserve it, could have argued Jennings deserved it with the game he had 2 huge TD catches, and the huge catch in the 4th QT to put the Packers in FG range..Anyways, it played a factor. Yes, Howard on special teams was huuge, but even if he doesnt score those TDs on returns, I think the Pack still win that 96' sb.

    Sure it's easy to talk in hindsight. I remember Rodgers throwing a few costly ints at the end of games during that 08 season. Remember ATL, HOU, Jacksonville? Again you don't know if that team wouldn't have won the SB. Didn't the Giants have more injuries this past year, and as I recall they won. Heck we did same in '10-'11. With Moss, the offense would have been capable.

    Actually it was the 96 team and they had the #1 special teams too.

    Ok lets try to be a bit constructive here. Yeah Fave does sound a bit bitter, but when he says surprised he didn't do it sooner Rodgers best chance of winning the SB prior to 2010 season was 2009 season Rodgers was just on fire against the Cards. Plus he seems to play better in domes, its feasible to believe they could have beat New Orleans and its hard to believe Minnesota would have beaten them a third time. What stopped them was the Packers lousy defense.

    He's still the same guy I saw when I was 7 years old after my father got me a Packers cap in 1996. Still a Packer's fan, but will ALWAYS be a Brett Favre fan for life. Let's be honest TT DID run him out. Packers fan that argue against it are simply STUPID. TT did the same to Nick Barnett, Javon, tried to do the same to Donald Driver also. Brett didn't want Javon gone. TT wanted Javon gone. Funny how TT refused an extension after an all-pro season, but gave Nelson an extension after ONE SB game.

    • @scourge8097
      @scourge8097 ปีที่แล้ว

      What was "funny" about that? Nelson was going into the last year of his contract. Walker had two years left and was holding out. Not really "funny."
      Favre was then and still is a dick....who also sends dick picks to 20 year old female interns and takes a couple million from the poorst state in a welfare scam, BUT for THIS topic, it's 100 pct a shot at Rodgers. "Remember I said this was the MOST talented team I've been a part of? I'm surprised it took him this long with so much talent around him."

    i think perry will be fine. after moving from DE to OLB we cant expect him to start dominating in camp right away. And he is also going up against bryan bulaga most of the time and hes a stud at RT. its too bad sherrod isnt healthy. i dont see him playing at all this year after coming off of a serious leg injury and not even practicing until mid august at the earliest

    Never been to a game at Lambeau. I live in Maryland. Was born in Kalamazoo (same city as my boi GJ85), and my father went to WMU(same as GJ also). He's not really a FB fan, but when he did watch, it was the packers games he watched. So I just became a fan because of one hat my father gave me, and seeing a guy on T.V. behind center with a weird name I couldn't pronounce.
