I love this movie that contains "ALL" sad, kindness, happy, action, and so on. So, This is "Great" movie and search I have ever watched on TH-cam! I hope I visit these places someday. Thank you for uploading great movies from Japan.
Omg.....someone as obsessed with this classic as I am....great stuff....thanks for posting.....and for the inspiration....gonna make that same T shirt, but with "actually" where you have the dog tags.....:).....
If that military march from Elmer Bernstein doesn't make you feel patriotic you're not alive. The "Waiting" music in the tunnel is absolutely epic. Shivers.
Nothing in the comments about where these sets are located. Is there a museum where the "tunnel" is, and how is it accessed ? Would be nice to know for fans who want to recreate the journey.
Thanks for your comment. When I made the video, there were no plans to put it on TH-cam. You're right, I could revise the description. But I am also happy to answer questions. To your question: no, there is no museum there. The tunnel was built by the city of Füssen as part of a special exhibition to mark the film's 50th anniversary. Unfortunately, that was almost 10 years ago.
All three parts of this are brilliant. Is the bike the actual bike that McQueen rode or a replica? Also McQueen's flying jacket, trousers and baseball....all the actual ones?
Thanks for the nice comment! The motorcycle was a replacement machine during filming. McQueen didn't drive it. The jacket and pants are replicas I think. They were exhibited at a special exhibition 10 years ago. The baseball is the real one from McQueen! He personally gave the baseball to the owner of the guesthouse where he slept during filming.
Just imagine someone somewhere would have possibly worn the hat and had no idea of the connection. I have a few McQueen interviews on my channel which might interest you if you haven't already heard them before. He didn't give many interviews considering how big a star he was.
@@CinemaMusic55 Yes, I think the hat was found and thrown away. Unfortunately! Thanks for the information, I'll listen to the interviews. Very interesting!
Brilliant video. I Have loved The great Escape since first watching it in 1973 as a kid .

It wouldn’t make the enlightened liberal patriotic
@@colettedagny-4972 I think that's a stupid comment.
@@roquefortfiles I think judging people’s opinions as stupid is a liberal thing. Very judgmental people
@@colettedagny-4972 Really? to me it's just a simple reason thing. Stupid isn't Liberal or Conservative. Dumb is dumb.
@@roquefortfiles yes you prove it

Sad to see that David McCallum has died, great actor. I think John Leyton is the only remaining cast member of The Great Escape left now.
Thank you for this sad news. I didn't know it yet. Yes, John Leyton is now the last living main actor.
Yes please tell where this is? Fussen or nearer to Staglag luft 3?
That was a good 10 years ago at a special exhibition in the city of Füssen to mark the film's 50th anniversary

Thanks for the information on the bike and jacket. It is amazing that the baseball is the actual one from the film.
@@CinemaMusic55 You're welcome! The guesthouse owner was given the hat he wore in the film by James Coburn. Unfortunately he forgot it on a plane.
