This scene is fucking beautiful. The way the music builds, changes and pauses, the way Steve reacts, how fresh and organic they made this scene. Probably my favourite scene in all of Stranger Things, possibly even of anything.
and hey, maybe they'll end up together anyway. we get a lot of straight characters who suddenly turn gay for each other in tv shows (like ellen page's character in the umbrella academy). why can't they do the opposite this time around?
@@btr003 i don't think so because it would be contredicting and confusing for the viewers (and maybe the actors as well) and it doesn't make any sense for the duffer brothers to do that and it's literally erasing the only representation of the lgbtqia+ community in the show (will does not count as it's not confirmed or denied yet) also the book "rebel robin" is going to release (end of June i think) so we will know more about her character but in the book description it's written "robin likes girls" and it doesn't mention being pan or bi ect... And i don't think Steve needs a girlfriend he needs someone capable of understanding him fully, helping him and someone who makes him happy and safe to talk to and robin is already there doing that and if Steve gets a girl friend i think it might mess up Steve's and robin's friend ship and if robin gets a girlfriend (which it's almost impossible in a small town in the 80s especially in indianna) it will have the same effect.
Y’all are all worrying about Steve but imagine what robin was thinking and what was going through her head when Steve was spilling his feelings for her.
5:33 the way that Robin said “okay” so anxiously is so upsetting to me and I don’t understand why. Maya is truly amazing at using her voice in acting, she is such a remarkable actress. I am so impressed.
What's so great about this reveal is we got to know Robin as a person BEFORE she reveals her sexuality. More importantly, we got to learn it through her budding friendship with Steve, a character we've slowly been growing to love throughout the series as he matures and evolves from being your typical jock boyfriend to being a sensitive and caring friend not just to her but to the kids and even Nancy and Jonathan. This was such a great scene and I loved how it played out. Beautiful sympathetic acting from the both of them. This has been my favorite season thus far just through the growing dynamics of these characters. I can't wait to see what happens next.
I was shipping the hell out of Robin and Steve before this scene, but I did like how organically they did her coming out. Can my boy Steve just be happy next season tho XD
Honestly the biggest thing I've loved with Steve out of all the characters is him discovering himself (something we struggle with in our mid to late teens), and though I'd love to see him meet someone I'm also fine with seeing him grow individually as well
Season 1: Steve is an idiot and a jerk Season 2: He’s a Mama of five children Season 3: He’s the most funny and idiotic person I’ve met but I still love him
The use of music in this scene astounds me. It's so quiet it's barely there for most of it, and when you're waiting for Steve's response the music is completely gone. Like the show is holding it's breath with you. But as soon as you realise it's ok, they're ok, it surges back in and it's so hopeful and loud and beautiful, like the show is laughing with them, happy with them. It just makes me cry in the best way.
Hands down one of the best scenes from the series. The acting is more realistic than a lot of movie scenes and I always find myself coming back to watch it because of it. It has the true spirit of growing up but still being young. Very well done.
I absolutely love how organic this was and how the they gave Robin a personality rather her being the cliche “I’m gay and that’s it” like I’ve seen in other movies...
@@doob195 Yep. She said it, it shocked her to the core when she realizes she really likes Steve and wants to keep being his friend, best friend maybe, but in order to do that, she had to tell him her deepest secret and she was scared he would reject her and she would be alone again. And worse, he was still somewhat popular and he could have made her life a living hell, so she made a huge gamble trusting him and she was scared it wouldn't go her way.
The frickin' music in this show, man. That slow swell as Steve starts poking fun feels so soft and cute and it shatters the tension and then it gets louder and they start laughing and you can see all the awkwardness melt away and my heart cannot take this cuteness.
Bro, this scene is just so lovely, especially since I bet in the 80s it was as twice as hard to come out as it is now and the fact that he was not mad or angry, but I decided to joke about it is the best thing he could have done. I loved how we got to know her before we knew her sexuality like this scene could have not been any better
I love how his immediate reaction was not make fun of her sexuality, but of her taste in women. like "yeah ok I support you liking girls, but damn did you have to settle for *that* girl??"
