That moment when 90% of comments are from teenagers saying they can't get enough sleep because of school. There is such a problem with our education system if none of us know each other, have ever met each other, live in vastly different locations and we're all sleep deprived.
Ema Nekaf Not that I'm bragging, but throughout my high school life, I'm glad I am a part of the class that doesn't involve with typical school education that you don't need to learn to go to college, my class manly focus on real life education of getting a job, and manly self evacuation of life in general in the workforce. That's why I love being in part of the classes where it's less stressful and not entirely pointless at all where my classes don't give as much homework unless if classmates needs to caught up of their work, studying for just a test. All pays off better that I pretty much great to not suffer not wanting to sleep.
Ema Nekaf it's because common science (at least in the us) has operated on the assumption that teenagers function the same as adults. only recently have they realized that teenagers naturally get sleepy later at night (11-1), so they need a schedule that allows for a later wakeup time (7-9) to be most healthy. but we're still so stuck on that 9-5 adult work schedule, that no one wants to make those kinds of accommodations for the people who are going to be the future of society. i remember when i was in high school i was frustrated all the time because I couldn't get to sleep at the "right" time and would always end up tired and irritable. wasn't until my senior year (2010) that i started finding articles about the differences in the teenage sleep cycle. was reassuring and enlightening, but also maddening because i realized my sleeping problem was because of a schedule i couldn't control.

Coding Ant people have different schedules for school. Take me for example, I get out of school at 17:00 and still have to go home so it’ll be around 17:20 by then. Than I have to learn a minimum of 3 hours to be able to finish everything including studying for tests etc. I also have to eat. The earliest I’ll have free time is around 20:45. And I still want to do something because otherwise what are you alive for? By the time that’s done it’s about 22:00 and that is the point where I’m READY to go to bed, not mentioning packing bags for the next day, setting your alarm etc. I’ll go to bed at around 22:30 everyday and wake up at 6:30 everyday because I have no choice if I want to pass the year.

Back in the early 80’s when I was in college I very regularly went 60 hours straight sans any sleep. In particular during my senior year I was awake from early Friday morning until late Sunday night. My routine was to leave right after my last Friday class and make a 3 1/2 drive home. Once there I visited with my girlfriend until I had to report to work at 11 pm Friday night to do the audit, working until 7 am. From there I’d go visit my parents for a bit and then spend the day with my girlfriend. We usually went out to some popular night clubs until I had to be at my hotel auditing job again at 11 pm until 7 am Sunday morning. After work I’d again visit family and my girlfriend until about 6 pm when I had to make the 3 1/2 drive back to college. I was always pretty exhausted by the time I got back to college but I always made it. Based on this video it sounds like it’s nearly impossible to do regular 60 hour periods of being awake. I don’t think I’d want to do that now that I’m in my 60’s but it really wasn’t all that difficult as a 21 - 22 year old.

Those are the answers for questions gr8 1. Randy Gardner's Main Goal: Randy Gardner aimed to set a world record for staying awake, intending to raise awareness about the effects of sleep deprivation and to demonstrate its impact on cognitive function. 2. Effects Experienced: After several days without sleep, Gardner experienced severe cognitive impairments, mood swings, hallucinations, and difficulties with coordination and memory. 3. Different Sleep Needs: Adults and adolescents have different sleep needs due to developmental factors. Adults typically need 7-9 hours of sleep per night, while adolescents require about 8-10 hours to support their growth and cognitive development. 4. Serious Consequences of Sleep Deprivation: The video highlights several serious consequences, including impaired cognitive function, weakened immune response, increased risk of chronic health conditions, and mental health issues like anxiety and depression. 5. Fatal Familial Insomnia: This is a rare genetic disorder that leads to progressively worsening insomnia, ultimately resulting in severe mental and physical deterioration and, eventually, death. It disrupts normal sleep patterns and severely affects brain function. 6. Waste Products in the Brain: During wakefulness, the brain accumulates waste products, including beta-amyloid, which are believed to contribute to neurodegenerative diseases. Sleep is essential for clearing these substances. 7. Glymphatic System: The glymphatic system is a waste clearance system in the brain that becomes more active during sleep. It helps remove toxins and waste products, facilitating brain health and function.

I never had a complete for years. It started when I was a child and became worse when I entered adolescence. After I discovered the bad effects of lack of sleep, I made efforts to improve my sleeping habits to get enough sleep. It's extremely difficult, but your brain and body will get used to the healthy pattern. Just be consistent. Now, despite disrupting my sleep pattern from time to time, I'm still wired to the healthy pattern.

Okay so almost all of us get up between 5-7AM and ain't none of us gonna go to bed at 8PM like toddlers. We all go to bed between 9-12PM when we wanna get good sleep. Sometimes we stay up to do homework (and/or surf the internet) making us go to bed between 2-5AM So here's the table: > No Homework/Internet: 5-10 Hours > Homework/Internet: 0-5 Hours >> 1:00 They say teens need _about_ 10 hours Apparently, the way to get 10 hours of sleep is to: • Do homework during daytime • Surf web during daytime • Go to bed at... - 9PM to wake at 7AM - 8PM to wake at 6AM - 7PM to wake at 5AM *This looks pretty impossible* *_Welp, I guess we're all gonna die and suffer from stroke_* _Thank you science for your unrealistic sleep schedule_

I've tried to find an answer to my question for s long so I thought id try TH-cam comments. Why does my whole body tingle when I’m almost asleep? It's not a tingling like some body part is falling asleep due to restricted blood flow, it is more of an insanely pleasant sensation that can happen for hours or minutes while I'm almost asleep. It is honestly one of the best feelings/sensations I've ever felt. It usually happens when I sleep too much, too little or sleep and wake up at weird times.
I’m a nurse and I work nights. Sometimes I am awake for 3 straight days and nights. It feels absolutely awful. My body will not go to sleep during this time. By the end of the third day I literally feel like I am dying. I don’t know how I am alive.
So let me get this straight. You’re telling me, teens need 10 hours of sleep which would mean if we were to *actually* do that, we’d have to have a bedtime at 9 or even 8 PM since most schools start at 6-7 AM. Everyone knows that no teenager will sleep in that early.
Around 2 months back I wanted to check " Stay awake for 50 hours" off my bucket list. Let me break down what happened for the people who wanted to know. So I stayed up one night and then started recording my progress from the next day. 12 hours in:no blatant side affects. 24 hours in: I started forgetting things like what I had for breakfast or what show I watched on TH-cam earlier. 36 hours in: extreme moodiness and grogginess with same previous short term memory loss. 48 hours in : this is when things got creepy. I started experiencing hallucinations based off my phobia of spiders. 73 hours in : I could barely keep my eyes open and I kept hallucinating. I couldn't concentrate at all and it felt horrible. After this I immediately stopped this experiment and fell asleep. It messed up my body clock for about a week and it took a while to fully recover. Hope this answered someone's doubts and questions.
I went without sleep for a couple of days in college. And I was sitting at my desk in English listening to a lecture about this French author and the blackboard turns to creepy crawly... things and started moving around. Everyone's faces turned green and the light began to dim. This isn't the first time I had stayed awake for two days. But due to having a long commute it weighed on me a lot worse than if I had been at home. If I stay up too much at home I'll still hallucinate. Like I'll swear I just saw a cat. And once I saw an old man with a horse in the back yard. Your brain is misfiring. Plus you can't do much that requires cognitive skills because your brain wants some off time and here you are making it work.

I recently found that lack of sleep triggered anxiety to levels I could not control and kept me awake, perhaps it was always there but I didn’t know but with age my body can no longer keep up without sleep and this video further emphasizes that
one of the reasons why that might be is because after you stay up after a certain point in the evening (like midnight) your body produces more cortisol (the stress/fight or flight hormone). i've learned this from my doctors because i have chronic pain and i need to avoid those types of things as much as possible since they increase stress on the body which then leads to pain (i also avoid caffeine 98% of the time for the same reason). i hope youre enjoying a nicer sleep schedule now! :)

Daddy Smash Mouth This comment is genius lmao
This is one of the best comments 😂
That moment when 90% of comments are from teenagers saying they can't get enough sleep because of school. There is such a problem with our education system if none of us know each other, have ever met each other, live in vastly different locations and we're all sleep deprived.
I guess common core is doing a great job!
School is easy af. The teens who complain are just mentally handicapped goonies.
Ema Nekaf that is actually their fault. They can just simply work harder so they don't stay awake all night doing work.

I am a competitive dancer and every night of the week I have a class starting at 4:30 and by the time im done all my classes the same night its 9:00.

Those are the answers for questions gr8

12 hours sleep. Also tired.
That’s because the quality of sleep isn’t very good. you need very high quality sleep to feel energized
Probably down to your diet.
I think it's because you have been sleep deprived for so long that you need to make it a habit of sleeping for 7-8 hours or 10 hours in order to feel great when you wake up. I have yet to try though...I'm only assuming.
Okay so almost all of us get up between 5-7AM and ain't none of us gonna go to bed at 8PM like toddlers.
We all go to bed between 9-12PM when we wanna get good sleep.
Sometimes we stay up to do homework (and/or surf the internet) making us go to bed between 2-5AM
So here's the table:
> No Homework/Internet: 5-10 Hours
> Homework/Internet: 0-5 Hours
>> 1:00 They say teens need _about_ 10 hours
Apparently, the way to get 10 hours of sleep is to:
• Do homework during daytime
• Surf web during daytime
• Go to bed at...
- 9PM to wake at 7AM
- 8PM to wake at 6AM
- 7PM to wake at 5AM
*This looks pretty impossible*
*_Welp, I guess we're all gonna die and suffer from stroke_*
_Thank you science for your unrealistic sleep schedule_
Going to bed at 2-5AM due to homework or internet is really not that realistic.
Nancy Moluh That’s true. My sister told me that she stayed up until 2:30 AM to finish an assignment. Most kids in Asia go to bed at 3:00 am because of extra studying and homework. They get less than 5 hours of sleep which isn’t good.

@@moonwolf8470 im in US and I still have relatively a lot of free time left so i dont know where these people are going to but they must be having exams every day
@@moonwolf8470 I did homework for 12 hours the other day, it was 15 but I took away 3 hours for showering and eating😀🔫
@@ITSLIZZ111 did you have a lot of missing work or were you getting distracted a lot or what
@@duckgoesmoo9089 No, yesterday I did homework all day again since I woke up at 7am until 12am with the exception of bathroom and lunch breaks, and over the weekend I slept late everyday because they left hours of homework again. I’m seriously so close to having a mental breakdown because the teachers are so inconsiderate.
Trying to reduce my stroke risks but Twitter is lit af at 3 am for no reason.
Barney Likes Kids LMAOOOO I feel you! 😂😂😂
I know bro the feels haha
Barney Likes Kids TRUE
Now barney, you're not setting a good example for the kids like that.
I'm scared after watching this lmao
Science: adolescents need 10 hours of sleep
School: best i can do is 6 hours
*4
Also school: And I'm taking a huge risk here
Ikr they make you do homework all night
if i get 6 hours on a school night i am the happiest man alive, most school nights for me are just procrastinating all of my homework while taking many short naps untill i do about an hour of it and get some more done in class, i never even get much done
Add homework, and other time consuming activities, plus the fact you're naturally nocturnal, and you make it 3 hours.
24 hours in a day
-7 hours for school
-1.5 hours for morning and night routine (get dressed, brush teeth, shower, etc)
-1 hour excessive
-2.5 hours homework (idk about you guys but each of my teachers gives me so much hw)
-2 extra curricular
-2 hours family/social time (which is essential for healthy lifestyle!)
-1 hour eating
- 1 hour commute
-1 hours chores (tidy room, doing dishes , cleaning out bag)
-4 hours job/work
NO TIME FOR SLEEP
You still got an hour to sleep
Teacher: WHY R U SLEEPING IN MIDDLE OF LECTURES?!
Me: to reduce my heart strokes chances.
I got kicked out for self care :(
Lollll
Woah !!!! Epic gamer moment
Dude tell me why I read this in a British accent
Loll
probably lectures
I sleep only 5-6 hours because I have to study.
I mean school is the reason for this routine...
Your icon is such a mood
Lucky I pretty much get 2-3 hours to sleep
@@kawaiipotato5931 Luxury. I used to get 3 hours of sleep every month, and I would die from a stroke, if I were lucky!
I'm an occasional procrastinator, and got a procrastination degree, with my experience I recommend to just do your homework! Just do it! It works 89.69696969% of the time. The problem is getting the motive to just do it 🤔
And?
Me: stays up every night
My FBI agent seeing this: recommends vid on my yy
Your FBI agent has your back :-)

I was staying uo for 4 months regularly...
One day, my bf says Stop!
I say No...
Then this video comes up in my feed.
What is this sorcery?!
I don’t know how I am alive.
oh dear, i hope you're alright
We appreciate your services even when it's not recognized! Stay strong we'll also do our part to support
Just sleep?
You guys are a bunch of hypocrites. Why do you even have (and accept) these schedules? I’ll believe this when YOU do it.
@@ire1398 lol exactly. Someone's bullshitting.
So let me get this straight. You’re telling me, teens need 10 hours of sleep which would mean if we were to *actually* do that, we’d have to have a bedtime at 9 or even 8 PM since most schools start at 6-7 AM.
Everyone knows that no teenager will sleep in that early.
especially becuase we don't produce the hormone melatonin (i think) that early
I sleep before 7 o'clock and 5:30 in the morning for school.
Rovick Parzuelo so you sleep when it’s still day out? Oh my god I could never.
Rovick Parzuelo
I have no idea how you do that. For teens, melatonin is typically produced at around 11 PM. I just don’t feel sleepy until 11 or 12
Yall it is 5:02 and i havent slept in 20 hours like brooo
Shimaga The Miserable I have a question. Why did you stay awake for 72 hours if you only wanted to stay awake for 50 hours?
Herr Hurbig Personal best.
Shimaga The Miserable, thanks for sharing.
War Ninja , thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this video! I have my own personal record of staying up 3 consecutive days and nights. Now, I’m going to start a 7:30 hour sleeping streak!
**watches at 4 in the morning because you’re bored and can’t go to sleep**
luxuriant dolan Same lmao
Ikr
Nah 5 for me
Omg same haha , I'm dying 😅
3:54 uk time
I feel like everyone here decided to watch this video instead of sleeping 😂
Not all of us!!! I sleep about 10 hours , sometimes also have a nap as well.
Nah I’m just procrastinating on studying
you are correct

that’s lowkey scary. like honestly idk the last time i got 10 hours of sleep. i get like 4-6 every night🥴
lmao this comment section has taught me that this entire generation is sleep deprived
Same :(
Right I’m lucky if I get 6 hours
SpeakTruth ‘ same though
Honestly same, I'm legit getting 3-4 hours of sleep a day and if I'm lucky 5 hours. Right now as I'm typing this comment it's 4:45 am and I have been awake for two days straight.
Neha Midatana aww pls get some sleep ❤️. i struggled with insomnia for years, so if that is what your problem is, i recommend melatonin. it’s OTC and perfectly legal and it helped me ❤️
amazing. well these videos with images help to understand better special the parts of the body, the symptoms and all.. thank u for this detailed explanation
"less than 6hrs sleep increases stroke risk"
me: * sleeps for 6.01hrs * 😎

Understandable.
