This is because you have the read only version of techstream or write is not enabled. Bidirectional is required to write to the TPMS ECU. I had the same problem.
I connected a scanner to the ECU and it reads that sensor 2 is faulty but I don’t know which one is sensor 2? Is that a right front tyre or? All four tyre pressure is the same. Thanks
There is no way to tell which one is it. You can rotate tires however you want, but that wont change sensor IDs in the ECU. You can try the trick with deflating one tire at a time and checking which sensor ID has lowered pressure reading.
I am looking for a shortcut available that involves no special tools..my dodge automatically recognizes tpms after rotation and Chevy has a process that involves several steps with ignition and adding air..please advise..

American Tire Depot will charge 30 bucks each sensor (labor only) plus sensor price
"A good customer "supoust to know this kind of tools are so spensive.
Lexus ES 350 - what is the tire sequence (location)? In other words - where is tire No. 1 where is tire No. 2 etc...? I understand that No. 5 is the Spare.
I tried the techstrean (Verson 16.00.023) to register ID many times but the process never finished. Techstream displayed the error: ID Registration failed due to a communication error with the ECU while in Initialization mode. I jumped the TC and CG for 30 seconds and retried but never make it.
This is because you have the read only version of techstream or write is not enabled. Bidirectional is required to write to the TPMS ECU. I had the same problem.
Which TechStream subscription you use to change tps sensors? and would a maxitpms do it alone and be less expensive in the long run?
The $65 two-day Techstream subscription will do the trick. You will need a interface cable as well. I picked up the MaxiTPMS TS508 for about $125.
Why didn't you show the seals for the TPMS sensor? You guys do things halfway!
Благодарю! Нужная информация!👍
Vsegda rad pomoch!
I am not aware of anything like that. 🤷🏻♂️
@@DIYtimeTRD Well I was struggling...our Rav4 does not identify each tires pressure so rotate does not cause an error..oops...no skills or special reset needed.. 😉
Yeah, that what I thought, cuz it communicates wirelessly with the sensors. It is not aware where the tire actually is.
@@DIYtimeTRD Actually that's not what I meant sorry for the mix up..our Rav4 does not identify individual locations...so no need to reset as it will still show low air and location non issue... so my Chevy Camaro when you rotated it it had to be reset as well as a Dodge truck or would simply keep giving you a tire pressure and pressure is price and show position last registered for....thus the need for a tool or some simple tricks..
As long as they are battery based, aren't they gonna work if we only change the batteries?
Yes, you are correct. I am actually working on a video about replacing TPMS sensor battery. I’d say it is doable, but messy and time consuming. It may not be worth messing with for some people, if you can find a replacement sensor cheap.
@@DIYtimeTRD I live in Yemen and original replacements for my rav4 are not always available, that's why I was thinking about replacing batteries.
Thanks for replying, waiting for your video about replacing batteries 🙏🏻
Yes, true, plus the best part is you don’t have to reprogram sensors. They will just work as normal.
Very informative.. Thank you!!
What if you don’t have the registration code? I just assumed putting new aftermarket ones will work. Light still one. Im stuck on what to do.
TPMS tools can scan and detect the code.
@@DIYtimeTRD no. Had a tire shop scan all 4 new tpms sensors. All 4 read but would not relearn. That is after replacing the tpms ecu. Yes a separate ecu for the tpms. Light went off for a few days but came back on. Out of options.
@@30minforasn 1 year late- did you ever figure it out?
@@DavidLee-vp3nr nope going to sell the car
I would think I would go to a dealer to fix this @@30minforasn
I installed new tpms sensors all around and i did program them with the blue toyota Lexus computer and i also used techstream but my light is still flashing and i have a 2009 is250 awd
Does Techstream show any error codes?
@@DIYtimeTRD yes I cleared them and did it again codes they went away but light is still blinking and also i went after market sensors not oem
Does Techstream see the sensors and show proper tire pressure?
@@DIYtimeTRD no
That means they are not programmed into your car ECU. Probably incompatible. I also once bought a new sensor and it came with dead battery. Check that too.
does techstream and the associated cable work with win10 or mac os?
Definitely not on Mac. It will only work on Win 10 if you have a 64-bit cable. I tried installing 32-bit cable driver on Windows 10 for several hours, but it wouldn't just work - not compatible.
Thank you for the link 💯🔥🔥🔥
👌🏼
What if your car has a TPMS sensor in the spare tire? That’s a total of five tires how do you register the last spare tire?
You will have an option to register all 5.
Thanks for this video.😀
👌🏼
I purchased new TPMS sensors and took them to replace to one of the well known tire replace center, a mechanic told me that two of them has similar ID and is unable to replace my tire and insist to buy them from their company.
Is it possible that a sensor can be produced with identical ID number?
No, each sensor should be unique. You can see the ID printed on each sensor.
I installed 4 tires on a Lexus nx and now the light is on. I checked the screen and all 4 sensors read nothing. I’m pretty confident I didn’t break any of the sensors. What’s going on here?
Did you install 4 new tires with rims and sensors?
my original sensor worked for 14 years, the light is now on, is this software still available?? do I have to pay to download it ?
That software is useless with a cheap chinese cables . It will allow you to read sensors information from your vehicle port. And not to write..
Thank you for the video❤
Great video.Thank for explain clearly.
Is Techstream available for Windows 10 yet? Had to fire up a 20 year old laptop to get it to work last time lol.
Yes, if you have a 64-bit cable.
Excellent video,l very practical and esay to understand A +++++
very good with explains how it work .thanks you
Can you borrow this tool from autozone?
Doesn’t seem like they offer this tool.
