Day in my life: Interac ALT in Tokyo

  • I made this video to show anyone coming into Japan as an English teacher what to expect for a work day! Although I came with the company Interac, they have nothing to do with how my school runs and what duties they give me so this can also apply to any ALT with JET as well! This is one of my elementary schools that I go to 3-4 times a week. No kids will be shown in this video out of respect for their privacy.

    Hi, how much is the apartment rent in Tokyo for ALTs?

    • @Cami-ep8kd
      @Cami-ep8kd  ปีที่แล้ว

      it depends, my job was in tokyo but the company put me in Saitama for cheaper rent. I moved to tokyo by myself and my rent was 79000 yen a month. it was like 55000 yen in saitama though

  • @Greg-uq8ng
    @Greg-uq8ng 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your rent must be higher than other alts. Do you get a higher salary?

    • @Cami-ep8kd
      @Cami-ep8kd  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So my salary is only ¥9500 (~$95) higher than a normal Interac employee and that’s not because I’m placed in Tokyo, it’s because the BOE that I work for wants me to work until 4:45 pm, whereas other ALTs usually finish work at 3:30 pm! So I have other Interac ALT friends in Tokyo that don’t make the extra ¥9500 because their BOE doesn’t need them until 4:45 pm. Tokyo is more expensive but I live in a share house so it’s cheaper :)
