I have lived through all the Gold Rush, Deadliest Catch, Alaska gold and soooo many more channels just to be made to wait another week just to find out if a stupid pump or some bit of a excavator will work ???
That is why i gave up watching main TV channels and now i stick with watching and looking forward to channels like Dan Hurd. (my favorite You Tube channel by far)
With every upload, Dan lays out what and where and works hard to show us any result, be it small flour gold or Pickerton maddness, smelting or teaching.
With channels like Dan Hurd it cuts out all the crap and gives you closure and makes you want the next adventure to begin.
Thank you to the Hurd family for all your hard work making this all possible for your devoted fans and youtube family.
I would like to extend my love to the Hurd family, to all the subs and anybody reading this.
PLEASE share Dan Hurd on line. xxx

To all of Dan's subscribers! If you would like to support Dan and you don't have a whole lot to do put into it here in a friendly word of advice. Do not skip the ads watch the ads all the way through. For every ad that is watched all the way through Dan gets a portion of that advertising cost. So there you go and easy way to support one of the best TH-cam channels online currently.

Seemed like was still some pretty good sized chunks coming out of the machine, to me it just seems like if it doesn't break it all down to fine stuff then it's only like half yielding or something. I'm hooked on your ch! Discovered it about a month ago, great vids, great knowledge, great times!!!

I like the fact that you have the jaw crusher set for the larger particle size. The impact mill crushes the rock far faster than the jaw crusher so you minimize the time at the slow point. It looks like there was a lot more gold than you initially thought. Good luck.

My gosh one of the few times I have seen the legendary Mr. Dan Hurd get skunked. ( well almost ). Needless to say there is always a thumbs up for your efforts on this channel Dan. Gold mining seems to be about 98 percent hard work effort and 2 percent picking your nose. Lol love this channel Dan keep up the 98 percent.👍

    • @cacogenicist

I wouldn't call that skunked, and I'm rather an expert at _skunked._ :-)
Like as in a couple recent trips of mine to a local river where, having poured over a quarter bucket of mostly magnetite sands with a jewelers loupe, I discovered _not a single minute spec_ of gold. **Sad trombones**

The quartz rocks were so pretty, part of me wished that you had a cost-effective way to flatten and polish it up for use as a good looking backsplash in a kitchen or bathroom. You'd need more, of course, but wow that was good looking stone! But I know that's not what you retrieved it for. Thanks, Dan. As a non-miner of any kind, I sure enjoy your channel. The scenery is always very nice, to boot.

Thanks to you and your panning videos inspiring to dig my pans out of the garage which I havent used in years and take my 8 yr old brother and girlfriend out to our local creek called miners ravine creek in Roseville California for a afternoon of panning and enjoying the nature. We were able to find only about 15 peices of fine gold but nevertheless it was a great memory for the 3 of us all thanks to you Dan 😁 I love all of your content, keep up the awesome work. Would like to see that seem revisited and just crush the material and use a acid wash to disolve the rock out. I expect it would be a much better show of gold. I suspect there is good gold but requires a different process than this to recover it. The icon is a great machine for free mill gold but micro gold in sulfides is a different animal.

    Hi Dan
micro gold could be encapsulated in pyrites. a lot of the pyrites captured by a Nelson concentrator will often have encapsulated gold in it as it is a lot denser when compared with barren pyrites. But to recover gold from pyrites you would need fine grinding, preferably below 50 microns and an oxidized acid leach.
Anyway, great videos and keep them coming

Dan, don't get discouraged. Hard Rock mining is where the real money is. Pickers and nuggets look great but there just isn't enough of them. Sulfides need treatment as you know. Might be low in free mill gold but I bet cyanide heap leach would help you recover lots of gold.

Dan, I have to wonder , considering how much micron gold was in the pan, whether it would be worth checking the safety sluice with the microscope. That Icon does an amazing job of keeping the super-fine stuff, but does it miss any of that? Kind of a moot point, since it's getting ready to leave, but a good selling point for 911.

It's the quest for gold that offers satisfaction, not just the gold itself!

It'd take all the fun and adventure out of it, if you just found gold laying on the ground all by itself!
