Rob went from being a forgotten background character to a main archenemy to Gumball for leaving him in The Void. All that because Gumball can't pronounce his name right.
It’s really amazing how they were able to take Rog a forgotten background character and give him his own character based on not being a main character.
I find Rob to be legitimately one of the most unique and interest antagonists I've ever seen in any media. He's the kind of character that cannot exist in any other show, which is astounding. When I was watching this show while airing, I knew of him and I thought "When is this background character going to have an episode" and then he became the MAIN VILLAIN. That will forever hold a special place in my heart. The fact that I followed this character's journey and was almost a part of it.
The only other franchise he would fit would be Deadpool but even then they would probably treat it like a joke than an actual serious manner...which you gotta give props to gumball even more to actually take it more seriously
Exactly! Rob is so fascinating, and I love how they did his development. He, undoubtedly, IS the antagonist, but he’s not a bad person. Rob is a kid, who ultimately goes down a path of insecurity and feeling lost after he’s mutilated beyond anyone’s control and thrown into a world that doesn’t remember or care about him. Really, his only option is to become evil. And yet, in these episodes, we see small moments that make him more humanized. He has mannerisms that make him unique and relatable, and when it comes down to it, Rob is genuinely kind-hearted. That’s a favorite part of this, honestly. Whenever Rob does good things, he still gets punished for it. There’s no reason for him to actually care because the universe will punish him for it regardless… But he still does anyways, because Rob is a kid in a town that he loves and he wants to save people, even if all he’s known as is the scary bad guy. I’m getting way too deep into cartoon characters, but it’s all very profound to me. Rob is one of those characters that you just won’t get anywhere else.
The way the creators develop their characters and creations is pretty insane and wonderful. Rob went from a minor background character to a villainous fan favorite and also becoming the first rivalry of Gumball, And Molly and Terry had more major roles and has more speaking lines and screen time than ever and the same goes to some of the each minor characters through the show. Ever since the void started to erupt, They made everyone kinda have a lot of more attention and personality in terms of this. Great video as always! Love the Character Developments in this show
It's incredible how they even make Gumball and Darwin more fleshed out in relationships: Gumball and Darwin aren't simply a "bros against the world and is it" thing: they stand to each other for real, but nor just because they are brothers but because they really care. Same with Anais, Nicole and Richard: they genuinely like themselves in a non-flat way, almost every episode when they appear, they developed theirs relationship, even those who seam not by focusing in other things, like "The Game" Tobias don't have a sister, though. Why you would think he have? I don't know, there's anything about fan fictions like that. Nevermind.

Gumball is the perfect mix of retro and modern comedy. It's one of the few things I point to when people think older fans can't enjoy new shows that kids like.
I love Gumball's lore, I love how some characters are aware that the world they are in isn't real. Plus the void is fucking scary but also really cool at the same time, I can't wait to see how the characters will save the world while it literally consumes it. Well if Warner actually grows a brain and decides to leave the gumball movie alone In conclusion Gumball's lore is badass
I remember from one episode where Rob kidnaps Banana Barbara to paint him the future, during the ending theres a painting of the whole watterson family in the void, and i really hope that'll happen soon.

What I always loved about "The Rerun" was that dramatic scene of Gumball screaming at Rob after he temporarily has Darwin (along with Anais) killed. It made me wish there were more serious episodes in the series that are well written and maybe not stories like "The Hero" and "The Inquisition."
This episode still to this day gave me goosebumps just by seeing how rob literally made it work as a major threat to gumball after ruining his life at first. This is why rob in my opinion, is like the THANOS of the show but in a much controversial way, he reminds me of bill cypher from gravity falls when “( Reality is an illusion, and the universe is a hologram by gold )” this really makes me wonder if the next season will probably pick up after what happened when Rob fell into the Void or it’ll probably be different as a different time twist to be renewed

Like was this planned or did it just happen? I also find it ironic how Rob is forgettable in the show, but is a character that every fan knows about and is able to remember
Darwin regressing in The Rerun is terrifying, you see him literally die in front of Gumball's eyes due to what seemed to be suffocation, it's genuinely freaky.
i would LOVE the new season having more lore based on gumball's friends, like they going away (since the last episode from S6 shows the void) and then SUDDENLY the last episode being the lost episode.. the grieving extremely good lore that would make me watch it all over and over

To answer your question about the time line maybe the universal remote worked differently because the gate was not shut down properly so aspects of the real world came into the void and affected it leading to the reversing of void objects

Hey, yall, spoilers for the Spanish spin off show for Villainous (an episode that had this): The remote is Flug’s, Rob was trained by the Villainous camp, Gumball and Darwin annoy Flug on a call, and Nicole is working with Black Hat
it's honestly sad how some of the best and my favorites in the show have little screen time per episode. Rob, who was a poor soul who got trapped in the void, manipulated by Gumball to be his nemesis, was clueless and thought that he was gumballs nemesis. over time, he got more self aware of the danger that gumball puts in others. this leads to the disaster and rerun, wanting revenge for what Gumball has done to not only him, but others. he wanted to tear his life apart, and make it as miserable as possible. eventually knowing the fate that lies within the future, and wanting to make everyone live action so they don't get trapped in the static of the void for eternity. it's so sad that he only got like 4-5 episodes that he got to star in (I've never watched the actual show just clips, so I could be wrong), and just didn't feel important enough. another example is Penny Fitzgerald. she was a perfect match for gumball, and the two were like a magnet. Penny is a nice, passive young lady who is just trying to have fun and make Gumball's life as good as possible with her. while Gumball was a toxic, no good person who always gets into trouble, and usually is the cause for it. but opposites attract, just like magnetic force. also, Penny's shape shifting abilities were perfectly thought out. each form took on their own emotions. such as disgust, anger, embarrassment, insecurity, sadness and fear. her base form is well, herself. a happy her with a somewhat happy life. despite her appearance, she is shown to just be an everyday pre-teen in school. she's a cheerleader, she has a fitting attitude, and she over all fits perfectly in the show. it's so disappointing that she had only a semi-major role in season 5, and barely appears after that. I hope that if the Gumball movie ever gets a chance to be published, she could be one of the more...important characters. she felt important in someway, but the show didn't make her feel as important as she really was. name any other examples in the replies if you have any

it's honestly sad how some of the best and my favorites in the show have little screen time per episode.
Rob, who was a poor soul who got trapped in the void, manipulated by Gumball to be his nemesis, was clueless and thought that he was gumballs nemesis. over time, he got more self aware of the danger that gumball puts in others. this leads to the disaster and rerun, wanting revenge for what Gumball has done to not only him, but others. he wanted to tear his life apart, and make it as miserable as possible. eventually knowing the fate that lies within the future, and wanting to make everyone live action so they don't get trapped in the static of the void for eternity. it's so sad that he only got like 4-5 episodes that he got to star in (I've never watched the actual show just clips, so I could be wrong), and just didn't feel important enough.
another example is Penny Fitzgerald. she was a perfect match for gumball, and the two were like a magnet. Penny is a nice, passive young lady who is just trying to have fun and make Gumball's life as good as possible with her. while Gumball was a toxic, no good person who always gets into trouble, and usually is the cause for it. but opposites attract, just like magnetic force. also, Penny's shape shifting abilities were perfectly thought out. each form took on their own emotions. such as disgust, anger, embarrassment, insecurity, sadness and fear. her base form is well, herself. a happy her with a somewhat happy life. despite her appearance, she is shown to just be an everyday pre-teen in school. she's a cheerleader, she has a fitting attitude, and she over all fits perfectly in the show. it's so disappointing that she had only a semi-major role in season 5, and barely appears after that. I hope that if the Gumball movie ever gets a chance to be published, she could be one of the more...important characters. she felt important in someway, but the show didn't make her feel as important as she really was.

I feel like The Venture Bros crafted rivalry better. I mean in the world of that show arcing good guys is more of a job rather than actually doing out of purely being a bad guy.
I'm looking forward to watching Venture Bros, and that made me look forward to it more.
To be fair, rivalry was a huge part of that show, second only to "failure".
