The scariest part isn't just how dangerous it is, but the fact that it was actually created by Gumball and Darwin. They created something on par with Jumanji. Two kids who make a whole average human brain united were capable of threatening reality. Addendum. I actually read instruction manuals out if habit because many had lore.
Dodge or Dare is like a homemade Jumanji, but it's powerful enough to put a curse on you and make it feels like a death trap until you finish the game. It makes Squid Game looks like the safest game show.
One thing that I like about this episode is how it starts. Gumball is actually the responsible and reluctant one, while Nicole is the one more excited and less concerned. However, it's not out of character because Gumball knows how bad the game is, because he's experienced it, and Nicole wants to spend some quality time with the family. It's a nice switch up of roles that I can appreciate Personally, next I would cover The Master to round out the game-based trio. I think that's a highlight of season 6 for me. It's just so simple but works so well.
I doubt they made it. They probably just said they made it but really bought it from the Awesome Store. You know, the only place in town where you can get reality-warping objects.
@@vetarlittorf1807 if you look at the cards, box, and board, it looks like something a young child would make. The pieces look like things a young kid (like 4 - 5) would use for the game. It overall looks like something two young kids would make and not an adult that runs a store.
My best joke in this episode _has_ to be when Richard, hissing like a vampire, pounces on Gumball to eat the ham suit. It's the way he enters the scene that had me in stitches, he just *descends.*
The whole Larry job thing is a paradox. He has so many jobs so he can pay rent but he doesn't even have time to be in that house. If he gets less jobs, he will need rent more for being there. Also, the Game is a great episode and probably one of the best earlier episodes.
It's absolutely insane that a board game is so powerful, that it can take over the world. Every. Step. Of the way. Kinda like Jumanji Also really funny video by the way :)
I insane like these episodes where these characters are playing a dangerous card game (like jumanji) There’s a lot of potential and creative ways Treehouse of horror also did a episode similar to this! (Edit) I love these episodes.
This episode is definitely one of my favorites. Just a bunch of well paced jokes and clever concepts mushed together in an 11 minute episode. From meta bits like the ominous music being heard and invoked by the game itself, to the crazy dodges the characters are forced into, and some Gumball spins on classic dares, like the prank pizza. My favorite joke will always be Richard with the Donut Cop, though. Always manages to bring a smile to my face.
Imagine if a side affect of the game was to alter the eyes of those who play it, as they’ll never see it in the same light again. Gumball and Darwin are the first to change, as they already know, with the rest changing as the episode goes on. That would be a cool in universe explanation for the eyes.
i definitely believe that the procrastinators should be in the search for the best it's hilarious, relatable, and wacky for the entire duration and is one of my personal favorites of the show
This is definitely a personal favorite episode, feels almost clip show-esque in that we get to see the characters in a lot of varying situations in one episode but the overall theme that ties them together is just so compelling too
this is by far one of my favorite episodes I’ve seen it a hundreds time, the concept is brilliant, whoever came up with the dares deserved a raise and I died laughing every time Richard reports his theft to the cop
A literally demon or witch doctor cursed this game just for laughs. This reminds of that movie the cartoon network work aired where the board game come to live when you play it starred with Robin Williams.
As a person who is currently on a rewatching of TAWOG, I was thinking of how hilarious and interesting the Dodge or Dare episode was as I was watching the Third where the game was first mentioned because Gumball and Darwin we were they were bored of each other. Timing is interesting. Another amazing video.
Only Gumball and Darwin knew it was dangerous, so what happened the first time they played? Or first few times. Nicole did mention how they used to play it, which would typically mean more then once. Edit: legit four seconds after i commented this he brought up how they played it in previous episodes of the show and now i look dumb.
I’m pretty sure they mentioned at one point that it was the FIRST Dodge or Dare they created and the ones seen in previous episodes are the remade ones that arent reality-bending.
4:59 is it possible that the reason the dares seemed to have been written for the episode be because the game wrote them itself, we know it has the power to make the dodj's happen so isn't it possible for it to make the dares fit the person it's for?
Simple, the awesome store owner must’ve found some deal with it and Richard must’ve gotten it for the kids to play with (not knowing it could cause ultimate chaos! As always)
i think what makes the plot of the episode interesting is that if they didn't take the game as seriously the episode would've been alot duller, since they had Darwin point out that everything that affects them is only as real as they believe it to be so it makes it sound like if they would've just treated it like a normal game none of that would've happened
The 90's Jumanji is one of those films that are not masterpieces, but is just a very solid piece of media that's very entertaining to watch. No wonder why Gumball would seamlessly incorporate it to the show to make it also an spectacle to watch.
I think the reason they didn't do this is specifically because of scalpers. They would buy the collectible limited items in as high a quantity as they can, before reseelling them with a high markup. I don't think Cartoon Network wants those kinds of people to profit off of their IPs.
This is one of my favorite episodes in the show by for all the reasons you mentioned in this video and more. It's just so well paced and structured and delightfully chaotic, I love it
@@pugpartyproductions9499 No. It's season 2. You can tell by looking at their eyes. During season 2, the Wattersons' eyes would switch between oval-shaped and circle-shaped.

Always loved this episode, and it was cool to see it reviewed here. If I had to pick an episode for this series that hasn't been covered yet, I would definitely pick The Question as it is currently still my favorite episode.
you should cover my favorite episode, The Banana. i love it for the tension that slowly builds up through the episode, and the music that always makes the viewer feel the right way.
I think The origins really deserve to be listed in the best, its one of the epidoes with the most world building and it's overall very rewarding and heartwarming episode for long following fans,it was a MAGICAL episode (both in its impression and actuality lol)
I actually think that why the cards are tailored to this episode is because the game is sentient, as shown in the first part, just like it was tailored to Miss Simian
Me: "Alpha Jay, you should know..." *Gumball's singing voice* "🎵...how dangerous reviewing this Dodj or Daar episode... really iiiiiis!...🎵". *Disappointed* "That came out way less ominous than I wanted to." Lol.
Me and my sister remember this episode vividly as it was probably the most hilarious thing we watched at the time. Easily my most favorite episode of the entire series though I haven't watched any of the recent ones yet so I might give that a shot.
Personally "The Remote" was one of my earliest memories of watching the show, it's been such a long time since I watched it but I still remember most of the episode
My favorite scenes from this episode was when Richard was seducing the police donut, when he just flies to eat gumballs meaty body(You'll need context for that), and the part where Larry has an argument with himself.
When the cop blinked and Richard changed his outfit in a nanosecond I died Cartoons are the best man. Some absurd shit like that only works WRT an animated medium
Considering Nickelodeon finally released a game that was in a spongebob 10+ years ago (Eels and Escalators), I think Dodj or Daar should be a made to play game.
So, Jumanji reference. Personally I would've thought the most dangerous board game is where one player has to find the other players, and whenever that player occupies the same space as other players, they're eliminated.
I actually re-created this board game to the best of my ability back in my elementary school days, and I had a lot of fun doing so. Although I legit regret giving the Compulsive Singing Disorder card to my dad.
I actually recreated dodj or daar about 4 years ago. And one day, I found it in my closet and it took me a minute to recognize it because it was covered in dust. I still have it with me.

I'd like to head canon that the game, even though made by Gumball and Darwin, the Dodge and Dare cards themselves make themselves to bring as much suffering to the players as they possibly can, such as all the Cards spontaneously being about Lucy Simian, not just because it's about hurting Miss Simian, but because it will also effect the brother's relationship to Miss Simian in that moment, as well, not being allowed to block a bowling ball causing them a great deal of harm
I remember when me and my sister where young, we tried to make our own version of dodge or dare after watching this episode and it was the most chaotic day I’ve ever had in my life
