      Whatever content you like putting out is fine with me. I do enjoy videos where you guys are talking, it's nice to hear your voice. But silent ones are fine too. I think it's best that you post whatever you want with the time you have for it. Don't worry about the type of content, mix it up...makes it interesting.

      I like the variety of formats. Also, pretty much everything else. The nature, the creatures, the progress of the cabin, the bushcraft style of cooking, the preparation for winter, the struggles and successes!!!! Please just keep doing what ur doing 😊

    Well, let's try this again! Appreciate the shout out. We have a small 4 room cabin with a dry basement. We get our electric from the grid and have a well/septic system. Some of the things that you are doing inside and outside your cabin are similar to what I've been looking into. I'm currently working on convincing the Mrs that a small woodburner would be a good addition there, along with a few other things. Happy New Year to you both and your puppies!

      No problem, thanks for being part of this community we are cultivating!
      Oh, very cool! Wood burners are always great for ambiance, so that should be an easy argument, hehe. I really wish we had a wood burner on the main level. I may look into a propane heater for the basement to maintain temp when we are away and moving the wood stove upstairs. Not sure if it would work well since it’s for a large space and I know a lot to think about with distances from things, the floor, and not to mention one more worry with the dogs… but that ambiance, we need it! 😆
      Let me know if you ever need to pick a brain on ideas you have for your place. I always enjoy problem solving and talking “shop”!😊

      We enjoy chatting with you too! Hope you’re staying warm, -10 with -40 windchill here this morning. Looks like a full week of chill for us. Sorry again about your pup, we’ll do our best to get more shots of ours in the videos. Frank was upset he wasn’t front and center in this one😜 Happy New Year!

      @@Trailvagabonds thank you :) Yes, its been cold but I think you are a little colder than us. Its been floating around the 20 mark here with windchills of around 10. I think in another month or so we will start seeing some warmer temps (hopefully). We have been getting some snow as well. In the last 2 days we have had about 4-5". lol give Frank a big hug for me :) All your dogs are so adorable. Keep us updated on how the 2 newbies are coming along. Hopefully they are becoming more comfortable with you and their surroundings.

      @ we’ve had a dusting in the recent week but nothing else and I don’t think there is anything forecasted. We’ve stayed off trail when it’s been warmer so snow is still in decent condition. Katie ran our 2 new pups yesterday for the first time since we brought them here. Still warming up slowly. They are pretty comfortable with Katie now but still leery of me. Hopefully we’ll film a decent update for a future vid here soon. We’ll give the dogs hugs all around for ya!☺️

      @@Trailvagabondsthanks for the shout out, it meant a lot. I have stayed at shacks on cape cod and for water for the sink they put a 2 gallon (I think) water jug that has a spout on a shelf and that is how we wash dishes. Just in case you get tired of pumping the water. It works well and is easily refilled with a hole cut in the top. Just a thought, as always you do what’s best for you😊

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      We were doing similar with the big 6 gallon blue jug sitting on the edge of the sink but we felt like it was maybe using more water than we needed to when washing hands or rinsing. The foot pump was a water wise choice. We’ll see if we get sick of it 😆

  • @Fuzzyedgz
    @Fuzzyedgz วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I'm impressed with your clever creation of a sink! It will surely make life easier. The storage shelves are golden lol, we all could use more storage! Furry helpers are the best 😊

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you! 😊 We’re hoping it will help conserve water as it pumps so much slower than just flipping in the tap on those water jugs. And yes, we can attest that there never seems to be enough storage space 🤣 I have plans to still construct some other shelves for books and miscellaneous storage. The closet is a huge upgrade though

    Thanks for the shout out, we enjoy watching your videos. Nice work with the sink. Maybe install a on demand water heater and pump in the future?

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you! We’re torn. We added this foot pump to help conserve water mainly. We’ve been trying to keep the cabin as un-wired as possible since normally we are just charging battery powered items like cell phones, the laptop, and camera batteries with our Goal Zero. In the future we hope to build a home on the property with more amenities. But love the idea of keeping this more rustic. We’ll see as I’m sure time will tell as we live without many of the amenities we’ve always been used to

    • @wobdeehomestead
      @wobdeehomestead วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oh that would be cool building your dream home there. You would have a place to stay while you take your time building. If you like the log cabins there’s a log cabin builder up in Orr that could work with you.

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @wobdeehomestead we have lots of ideas for what it should look like. I’d really like to do a lot of the work myself, whether that be learning from someone by taking a course or doing a crash course with someone in the know. It’s probably a ways out but I’ll get lots of practice because we do still want to build a simple guest cabin and the sauna/bathhouse. Hopefully refine my craft over time😊

      Hopefully lots of building to come! Plans for more shelves/book cases soon, a sauna/bathhouse, guest cabin, garage, large wood shed, and many many other hopes and dreams! Winter is tough as we didn’t have site prep of any kind done before it hit and it gets dang cold here. But stick with us and we’ll hopefully make all that a reality!!🤩

    Love your wood storage box - how long does the box area last?

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It really depends on the temperature outside. Yesterday was a high of 3 degrees, low of -10, and I used about half of that stack. Teens to 20 it’ll last us 4 days. Near freezing, probably a week. It was 34-36 a couple days and we only needed a fire before we went to bed to keep it above 60 in the cabin

    why don't you use a 12v RV pump they are cheap and for the grey water just run it outside to a barrel. The amount of work you did on this in my opinion is not a long term solution and waisted money. However to did a good job.

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      As I built camper vans in my past life, I do have lots of experience with 12v RV pumps and think they are a great option as we also have one in our personal van that I hooked up. I guess our goals for this cabin is to try and leave it unwired as much as possible. We do have a Goal Zero for charging camera batteries, phones, other battery powered items like our new fan, and a 12v fridge. But wiring a pump was something we thought long and hard about for a while. One reason I wanted to install this was because we currently have to hike water in. We use the blue 6 gallon jugs as seen in different videos. Turning the tap on those wastes a lot of water washing hands or rinsing dishes. It also takes up so much counter space. This was an intentional choice to try and save on water and space mostly. In the future maybe we’ll break down and utilize a 12v pump. But for now this feels like a great water wise option for us 😊

      Thanks for your input! It’s hard for me not to talk about what I’m doing during projects as our channel started out with me mostly talking about building out a diy van. We have had people comment on previous videos that I talk too much so figured I’d try this style again😂
