The reason you see few malaysian visitors is that they will usually come during the school holidays - about 3 periods each year.

You are one of the unique travelers because you going to a location in Malaysia that is rarely visited by foreign tourists TH-camr, not only in "rock forest" locations (urban areas).

Omg i love Taman Negara, the oldest rainforest in the world. Malaysia must take good care of its treasure especially its jungles and wildlife . Eco tourism can thrive too without the needs of cutting more trees or clearing the jungles. Save them for our jungle peope, trees and animals. Thanks for the video! I went there many years ago, i want to go there again and again!'

Oh wow, how wonderful it's to tag along virtually with you to Taman Negara National Park....love the breathtaking nature there. Too bad that l had to skip the trip there which was organised by my ex- college mates...supposed to be a reunion. Haha...guess l would not go for that long canopy walk as l'm acrophobia. Well, wonderful to try the various food/ drink sold at that local night market. Very kind/humble of you to return to that nasi lemak seller to inform her how delicious her food is...l really admire you for that and your mom will be very proud of you 👍👍👏 Well, another absolutely excellent video with absolutely great content. A huge thanks, Ken and l just love this video. ❤

Fascinating from Start to finish. Beautiful scenery along the river, the rapids were a bit of a worry, I guess they weren’t too bad though. The jungle walk, I would have been a little apprehensive walking on those heights too. I was pleased when you finished that walk.

It is pretty tranquil traveling along the river, and chill talking and hanging out with the locals.
To see more wildlife, you’ll have better chance if it’s during the dawn or dusk, or maybe at night. Midday the animals would tend to rest because it’s rather hot.
It’s always good to get a good guide, just let them know what you want to see or experience and the guide will their best. If you want to see crocs, that’s probably night tour, same goes for fireflies…. If you want to see wild elephants, that’s probably at dawn. If you want to see wild tiger, well, it’s gonna be rare and the guide probably show you footages or images taken recently, but nonetheless, at Taman Negara, there are spots among the canopies where u can hear tigers passing by. It’s rare, and you may be feeding mosquitoes instead for such experience.

Kuala Tahan National Park is one of my fav national park. I always come here at least once a year spending my whole 7days exploring. Sometime i am hiking from here to the Peak of Mount Tahan 9th highest mountain in Malaysia and highest in Peninsular Malaysia. My favourite stay there is Danz campsite and a small villa few hundred meter from the school. In our old days we love to go to Telinga cave but then its closed forever because of safety reason. If the river are shallow during dry season there is a beach volley ball games for every evening at the small sandy island at the river. Foods at the floating restaurant also good 😁 there is a direct shuttle from Kuala Tahan to Kuala Lumpur so its easy for traveller, istead of bus hopping from Kuantan.

I'm a Malaysian and in April 2023 it was my first time in Taman Negara and we took the long boat up river disembarked and hiked to Gua Kepayang and slept in the cave. The hike is quite tough because of the humidity and there's lots and lots of elephant dung on the track, quite scary even though we didn't run into them.

I am very happy that you don’t have to worry about crocodiles or dinosaurs appearing, and even more happy that you are not bitten away by piranhas, haha!
Unexpectedly, the rainforest in Malaysia is so similar to the Amazon in Africa, but the road scenery is like El Nido!
Canopy Walk looks scary, you should be more scared if you are so tall, I heard that tall people have acrophobia!
I didn't expect you to look so good in the swimming pool. Lighting and angles are really important to you. I think you look more and more handsome! 👍🤩👏

Hi Ken. Actually, the National Park is renowned for the highest mountain in the Peninsula, called the Gunung Tahan. Many avid and intrepid local groups would attempt it and its probably the toughest 4-7 days camping trip 'in the wild' and 'endless river crossing' plus lots of sweats and rain and some parts are rocky too! The leeches are probably the last thing that will accompany these souls. Haha... Yes, the 'rimba' (forest) is wild, and its beauty is surreal when the clouds kick in. Lush greenery canopies, distinct wildlife and vegetation, and the unknown truly mesmerise many! Glad you made it to this gem this round :) The river can pose a risk if not crossed or traversed carefully....
    Edit: Thanks ginger. Appreciate comments.

Usually Malaysians will go to such places during the school holidays in January, March, June, August and December. On weekends usually people like to go back to their hometowns and people from kampungs will go to visit cities like KL just for a change of scenery.
Anyway, most tourists areas in Malaysia especially those in jungle areas or island will be closed to tourists in the month of November to January because of the monsoon season

  • @zaizul8390
    @zaizul8390 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ken, you went there during non-school holidays and probably weekdays, of course, you hardly see any local tourists. Most of the local tourists only take vacations during school holidays or long public holidays so that they can bring their children along. The ones that you saw in the team building, like it or not, had to go there during the normal working days or normal weekends.

@@AuntyJack123 It's an English origin: Pope's Nose, Bishop's Nose, or Parson's Nose. Its nickname basically compares it to the noses of dignitaries

Not many local tourists because it is far away from KL and there are many streams, cascades, jungle etc nearby KL such as Kanching waterfalls, Kuala Kubu Bharu nature, etc. (From Singapore)

Funny story. Went there in 2018, when we cruising the boat suddently heard tiger roaring, likely so near the bank of the river inside the jungle, but we didnt know where exactly it. Yep, everyone of us kept quite along the whole boat journey back to jetty 😂😂

I am a Malaysian and I did the hike from the river bank to overnight in Gua Kepayang. During the trek in and out to a different jetty the next day there's lots of elephant dung both fresh and older ones but we didn't run into them on track though they were outside the cave when we saw fresh elephant footprints outside the cave the next morning. Our guide would point out areas where there are known to be tapir and thereft

And therefore tigers. Leeches there's lots of leeches on track, ughhh. Needless to say we had dozens of leech bites as well as having to remove them from all areas of our bodies 😅

There are forest reserves near towns & cities that people go to for a few hours or a whole day with picnics. Taman Negara is further away & expensive to visit. Hence for foreign tourists. Locals go to their nearby jungles & hikes.

If you want to feel the real rainforest and less touristy, you are welcomed to Sarawak especially in Bau, Lubuk Antu, Kapit, and Mulu Sarawak. There you will meet the monster of the river, Crocodile or we called it Bujang Senang.

I've been there few years ago, too. Interesting how things changed there. If you are still there you should check out Ahloys Bistro, it's run by a kind blind man and he makes delicious food.
