Ok so I've just done this following all the steps exactly... And I have to say this may well be the best haircut I've had. Thank you so much for sharing! There is always a bit of disappointment with a hairdresser as it's never really how you asked for it to be. But this is exactly what I wanted. Brilliant!
Srsly, I don't understand why some hairstylists can't just check out tutorials on youtube before cutting hair if they don't know properly. Congrats on your fresh hairstyle😊 btw I did butterfly cut on myself on long hair in 3 tails, like in tutorial on this channel and I'm happy about it, too

@@melaniebrooks6071 I've found a good salon only once in my life, all hairdressers were good there, but I'm in a different city now and was too scared to get a lame haircut again 😅

I can't believe how well this works. Bit of a struggle to get the sections on my own , not a patient person.
Hair even on both sides without effort. I've cut my own hair for years. Recently had a very successful cut at a hairdressers 190 miles away(!) So not feasible to keep going for regular cut. With this tuition I don't need to. I've loved this style for ages but never been as successful at cutting it myself til now. Thank you so much❤
I have been working at this all day today! Wished he showed this on a human head. I too have been struggling with the sections. How did you go? Temple up to crown or temple across. Over the ear back I'm having a hard time with. I liked my bottom section enough to cut but I got scared with everything else and ended up pulling my ponys out, but my bottom does have a nice line to it.
I had a straight bob that I didn’t like, and I’ve just cut my hair following this vid. It’s 2 am and I hope my parents don’t get mad 😰 I can’t style it right now because of the noise hahaha but so far I love it! Wish me luck with my parents!

I tried this on myself .I have very fine hair. I did it while my hair was wet.I did my best with the sectioning. It came out pretty good. I did not point cut because my hair was fine, and I'm really glad I didn't because it would have been really choppy if I did that. All in all it was pretty good.

A couple of questions about this method of sectioning:
1. Would this work with a longer cut (shoulder length or even a little longer)?
2. Would it work with a side part or do adjustments need to be made?
3. Does it work with all hair types (or at least most, like moderately thin or thick, straight, wavy)?

Spent yesterday doing this cut. I can't believe how well this works and how good my hair looks! I'm going to invest in a three way mirror and professional quality scissors for next time. Will never ever get butchered again from a bad hairstylist! Thank you for all your videos Paul Watts!

@@liviasouza4268 I did cut it myself! I have been cutting my hair for a long time, but never this length before, so it was new in that regard. I needed a lot of mirrors, but it did come out very well. Good luck with yours!!
@@PlantsCatsTattoos I've cut mine for a while too, but I've never done so many layers like this. my hair is wavy but when I cut it very short it stays straight so it's kind of unpredictable how it will look after the cut. I hope it works:)
@@liviasouza4268 mine is straight for the first few inches then turns into waves. I did find I needed to trim the very front shorter after taking off the hair bands, but since it was the front it wasn't too complicated. And if it doesn't work out how you expect, it's just hair! Good luck!!!

Thanks so much for this! This saved my bad mood and me going to the salon! I’m growing out a pixie and the hair at my neck is all flipping up. I do have naturally wavy/curly hair too. Weird long mullet style. But this method is fantastic. THANK YOU. It’s fresh and more intentional.
Me with my grown out pixie watching this to cut myself and save myself from going to the salon as well! Mine was longer on one side and almost shaved around my ear on the other and it’s finally grown out to the middle of my neck but it’s like 4 inches shorter than the rest of all my hair so this makes me feel a lot better about following this video lol

I just did this and it turned out great! It needed a little additional trimming on a couple pieces near the front that were too long, but other than that, it's easy and turns out really great. Thanks!!!
I like this ponytail placement better than the 3 tail textured bob you did a few months ago.
I'm wondering wich one to do, between the two 3 ponytails technique. What is the difference in the end result?
@@alexandradeseve7661 The main difference is this one is a little shorter than the one from last year, a better cut/shape for fine hair. Depends on which length you prefer, and how fine your hair is.
Could you do a side part with this or what modifications would I need to do?

Perla, go for it, I tried it on myself and it's super easy, the only difference was I did an undercut with clippers on the bottom section behind the ears to take out the bulk there because my hair is so problematic there and just sticks out, I have lots of cowlicks in my hair so it makes it more manageable for me.

Truly epic video. Just one thing, is there any way to modify it for side parting on top? I feel like what could work is to cut the two lower sections in the same way, and then the top one would probably have to be done freestyle, no bands. But if there is some hack to do it, it would be a gamechanger.
I LOVE this but I have to wear the top front of my hair pulled back using a small clip. Is there a way that I can still do that with this style?? I can’t seem to get it right!
