    Which of these apps do you think will be the most helpful for you?

    • @pake000
      @pake000 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      None of them! I don't speak for everyone in the deaf and hard of hearing community, but these apps are awful. Reasons they contain ads or ask for payments. To me, that's like robbing an old lady.
      Let's get serious! What do deaf people really need for aps. One would be subtitles for phone calls, and Roger's text app in your video does that, but at a cost. Android/Google does it free with Live Captions. The second thing deaf people need is like Eva, but free. Again, Android/Google does this free with Live Transcribe. No ads, no subscriptions, NO Robbery!
      The apps you share care more about money than their purpose, I'll stay with the software designer that care more about their audience.

    his idea was introduced in 2014 by the BSC Consultng Group...since then the cost and quality particularly noise cancelling headphones from sony has come a long way. I am really glad that some manufacturers are improving things for hearing loss including commercial applications.

    I used SoundPrint to measure the noise level when I test-drove cars. It requires another person to drive. I don’t send the data to SoundPrint. I drive on the same stretch of highway and get the car up to the speed limit, then turn on SoundPrint for 15 seconds. Since I am deaf in my right ear and my good ear is next to the door when I drive, having a quiet car helps to hear the passengers.

    Apple Live Listen uses the phone's microphone to listen. It is a good feature, but not perfect because of delay if you are having a conversation. You will have to get used to hearing yourself and hearing yourself a split second after you talk.

      I just found out I have always been partially deaf and I didn’t realise, but now the world is sounding so much better. I’m 62 and raised a family and worked full time by reading peoples lips and pretending I knew what was happening around me sometimes it became dangerous for me. Thanks for this video I definitely will use these free apps. Respect and appreciate ❤

    What about the Google apps: Phone (captioning phone calls), Live Transcribe ( captioning), Recorder (recording & transcribing), and Translate (translation). The are standard on the Google Pixel series of phones. Most, if not all, of these apps run directly on the Pixel phone without an Internet connection and they are FREE. The captioning feature of the Pixel 6 Pro phone lets me use my cell phone more and is more accurate than CaptionCall which is also a fine device (CaptionCall is also available as a phone app for Android and IOS). IMO, the Pixel phones are the phone to get if you are hearing impaired. They pair well and work great with my Phonak P90-13/CROS.

    So... Find a Quiet Place only works if a lot of people use the app in a lot of places, right? Tunity only works on live TV, not streaming, right? Chatable is redundant if one has a Roger Device or a Resound Minimic, right?

    • @HearingTracker
      @HearingTracker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Abigail, thanks for taking the time to ask about the apps. Hopefully I can shed some light….
      Yes, Soundprint relies on crowdsourced data which is the beauty of the app; similar apps like to the popular GPS app, Waze.
      Tunity requires it to be live. It’s primarily designed for if you’re out and about watching live TV. If you’re looking for something for home or streaming from the web, then a TV streamer would be a better option.
      Chatable is designed as an alternative to other accessories yes.
      I hope that helps to answer your questions, Matthew

    I can't remember the name of this app. And I'm trying to find it.
    A deaf person called my Job a few weeks ago and it sounded like a real person. The sound of the voice was a lot like a mid 30s white American male.
    It wasn't robotic at all.
    I thought it was so cool.
    There was no delay.

      @@HearingTracker Oh, I have been using it for some time, but when you bring it up there's a splash screen that tells you that it won't be supported, and will eventually stop working. Unfortunately, I paid for a lifetime subscription. Come to think of it, all my Sears warranties have disappeared as well.

    Bummer about Chatable going under. Though I just got a new pair of Phonak Virto Paradise ITEs, and seemed like it wasn't going to pair well with them anyway. To wit... Wondering if there are any other apps that might work to turn my iPhone into a remote mic? I know Phonak makes a whole range of accessories just for that (really appreciated your video reviewing those) but given the high prices, would be great if there was a 3rd party app that people on stricter budgets could access for that purpose. Any other 3rd party apps like Chatable you can recommend, particularly ones that might work well with Phonak bluetooth aids? Thanks!

      Hi Carol! When bluetooth is connected to an audio device, it distorts the audio measurement resulting in inaccurate sound level measurements. Thus, bluetooth needs to be turned off on the phone. Note: this does NOT mean you need to disable the device's (i.e. hearing aid, music streaming, earbuds) connection to your phone, rather turn off the bluetooth button. Hope this helps!
