The thing about these performances is: if you were in the right place at the right time, YOU would've had the same fame as Yehudi Menuhin!
You truly are *just as great* (and in my opinion better in technique than Menuhin). Strong words, I understand, and many might disagree with me... but just because Menuhin was a master it doesn't mean that there aren't others with equal talent, or better! I think Menuhin and Heifetz [and then slightly later, Perlman] are famous for phenomenal technique and interpretation, but they also made sure that violin didn't die out as a musical art, and in fact many people started the violin because of them, or started to practise harder!
I came to this video, Mr Gringolts, after watching/listening to your incredible Locatelli performance played with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra. I love it.
I also have a DVD of you playing the third movement of Beethoven's Kreutzer sonata at the Verbier festival (perhaps 2007 or 2008?) It's my favourite rendition! Thank you playing it while the cameras were on ;)
