@@BabyKumari-eb4gv because humanity has gone through more than thousands of years, our ancestors (including Budhha)had picked up many precious experience through their mistakes.
It saves time and resources to just learn from them, rather than making the same mistakes again. So you can have more time focusing on making lives better, don't you think?
Buddha also read other books before he got enlighten, he found his way of understanding life but first he read other spiritual scripture. Like Vedas.

I didn’t down vote it but I also don’t get it, the moral. Would someone help me to understand? However the story makes me smile that his faith was so pure and contagious that the prostitute became a monk.

@@SharronDenice The point of the story was given the appropriate knowledge and time, everyone carries the capacity to become a monk/ enlightened. But they have to be willing to accept the teaching. This also entails the famous saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." Whatever the past, one always has a choice to have a better future.
Another moral is, if you are true to your self and your values, no company can divert you from that. That is why Ananda didn't become a prostitute but she became a monk.
There is a verse from Bhagvat Geeta chapter 3, verse 21:
karmaṇaiva hi sansiddhim āsthitā janakādayaḥ
loka-saṅgraham evāpi sampaśhyan kartum arhasi
yad yad ācharati śhreṣhṭhas tat tad evetaro janaḥ
sa yat pramāṇaṁ kurute lokas tad anuvartate
Meaning:
By performing their prescribed duties, King Janak and others attained perfection. You should also perform your work to set an example for the good of the world. Whatever actions great persons perform, common people follow. Whatever standards they set, all the world pursues.

Lower-order material pleasures & things are not free. So, prostitute didn't offer herself to penniless monk and...out of respect too. In contrast, higher-order spiritual bliss came for free from monk. Little wonder, she just jumped at the opportunity to make the switch.
