    The gassers pulled better than the diesels. Looks like the track degraded as the show went on too. They had to worry about running into a fence that sucks.

    Whats the weight difference between the gas and diesel sleds? I'm positive those gassers couldnt pull the same weight the same far as the diesels...

    • @jacobschillig7290
      @jacobschillig7290 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They add more weight to the box on the sled depending on the class. This makes it harder to pull

      +Garret Monnet Hi Garret! These pulls are all from United Truck & Tractor Pullers events. I just checked their website (unitedpullers.net/), and they haven't posted this year's schedule yet--they still list last seasons events. They normally start around June, and wrap up the season around September. Pulls are in Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Wyoming. Usually on a Saturday afternoon/evening. They're a lot of fun!!

    Is is just me or do the pro stock machines go less distance than the stock? If so why? Shouldn't they go much farther? Does the pull wagon have a more aggressive weight to it? depending on the level of your truck?

    • @quentins5692
      @quentins5692 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As the class goes up the sled gets more and more difficult to pull, both by weight and friction.

    • @jacobg5122
      @jacobg5122 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is old, but here's your answer. A stock diesel is usually 500-1000 foot-pounds depending on the year, and a tuned one will do 50-100% more. With gas, it's generally about 75% of the horsepower, so 200-500 ft-lbs

  • @hashbandicoot2985
    @hashbandicoot2985 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can someone tell me what the hell happened to the guy running up to the truck at the end of it's pull at the 8:29 mark? He was just jogging up towards the truck and he just suddenly grabs his head and looks to drop towards the ground like he ran into or got hit by something, then it cuts to the next pull. Black baseball cap, black t-shirt, camo cargo shorts.

    • @ArtTrucks1
      @ArtTrucks1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Philip Reses Whoa, great eyes! It's a little hard to tell whats happening, but the truck had stopped moving forward and had begun digging down into the ground as its tires spun. This caused mud/dust/dirt to be thrown backwards. Looks like the black t-shirt guy is running towards the truck and gets hit in the face by some flying dirt.

    • @hashbandicoot2985

    what does 2.6 and 3 and 3.2 mean with the diesels

    • @ArtTrucks1
      @ArtTrucks1  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ron Thomas Hi Ron, great question. Those numbers (2.6, 3.0, 3.2) refer to the diameter of the inducer bore on the turbochargers, as measured in inches. So, the '2.6 diesel class' means trucks with a turbochargers whose air intake is not greater than 2.6 inches in diameter. Similarly, 3.0 class is a maximum diameter of 3 inches. 3.2 = 3.2 inch maximum diameter. I'll be posting a video soon to explain some of these nuances in more detail.

    How can they start to pull it but not finish ?

    • @ArtTrucks1
      @ArtTrucks1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +JonathanDoors Great question! As the sled moves down the track, the mechanics of the sled increase the load placed on the truck. The weight box (on the sled) travels further forward, and the pan (bottom of the sled) drops and begins dragging and pressing into the dirt. These mechanisms significantly increase the weight/load the truck is asked to pull. Eventually the truck cannot overcome the load from the sled, and both stop moving forward.

    • @endlesscatching6548
      @endlesscatching6548 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ArtTrucks thank you for that explanation. But how can they be sure to apply the same load to each truck the same

    • @ArtTrucks1
      @ArtTrucks1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +JonathanDoors this is handled mechanically by the sled. As the sled moves down the track, the wheels on the sled propel the weight box from the back to the front of the sled. So, at 0' pulled, the box is all the way at the back of the sled. At say 100', the weight box is 1/2 way from the back of the sled to the front of the sled. And finally at say 200', the weight box is in it's fully forward position, which places the most load on the truck. So, it doesn't matter what truck is pulling, the position of the weight box is the same for each truck, based on how far that particular truck has pulled the sled down the track.
      There are other adjustments to the sled that affect the load. For instance, there are trigger points on the sled that signal the pan to drop (i.e., to drag in the dirt), or the ram to begin pushing the pan down into the dirt. These trigger points are adjusted from class to class. So, in some classes the sled behaves 'lighter' than in others classes where it is more 'stubborn' or 'heavy'--even though the actual weight of the sled is not changed.
      I'll be posting a video soon that ought to makes some of this a little more clear. For now the short answer is that the sled is calibrated to behave the same based on the distance it has traveled, regardless of what truck is pulling it.

      "Glabal warming" doesnt even exist anymore. Dont they call it something else now? Well anyway its just a myth created by some so-called scientists. But they cant be scientists, cuz they only have the question and hypothesis figured out, but there is no real proof that the earth is failing due to so-called "extreme" temperatures. They cant advertise anything, because they have not come to a solid conclusion. Its just a stupid myth that gullibles like you believe
