As someone who spent nearly two years trying to make a functional and accurate Killing Joke version of Red Hood, I know your struggle with the mirror film. Even Bill Doran of Punished Props couldn't help me figure it out. What I ended up learning is that the film will only stick to glass and will always peel up in time on all plastics. What I ended up doing was sandwiching the film between the acrylic tube and a 1mm thick sheet of plexiglass curved into a cylinder. Once everything was as tight as possible, I glued the plexiglass to itself then glued at the very edge where the plexiglass and acrylic tube met.
@@lemonferret I did. It took a lot of trial and error learning that glue wasn't the answer. Other than everything being red, I had perfect vision even without eye holes.
Hey Odin, that Cerebro was awesome! I hope you can make more X-Men props like Cyclops visor, Wolverine’s claws, Professor X’s wheelchair, Magneto’s helmet, Juggernaut’s helmet, and so much more X-Men props.
For the visor I would suggest using something like Krylon silver looking glass spray paint. If you dust it on lightly, it looks reflective and gives you around sunglasses-quality vision.
Odin, thanks for the shout-out (Stoogeslap)!!! I've always wanted to one of the iconic "Sword of Dungeons & Dragons" from Magic: the Gathering (or for a simpler build if there is a time constraint, either Sword of Light & Shadow from Modern Masters or Sword of Truth & Justice from Modern Horizons). But really, any cool, iconic weapon from Magic would be so cool to do again [I do remember you making Bone-Splitter, a very cool creation].
For my Mysterio dome, I took a clear acrylic dome for lighting, and sprayed the interior with Krylon Looking Glass. I have about the same visibility as you probably do in this piece. Though, you did give me an idea on how to improve on the design! 👌👍 looks amazing!! 🤘
Can you please make a prop building 101/ basics videos showing where to find all the things, how to make the patterns from online photos, and cutting straight or on an angle.
Hey Odin, heat gun on the tint will allow it to curve. I've tinted 50s cars with wrap-around glass using this method. It takes a gentle touch so you don't melt through the tint but it works.
Krylon "Looking Glass" spray paint would probably work for the visor. I know a lot of Halo guys use that and it's what I used for my Mysterio costume. It's not as opaque from the wearer's side as normal spray paint, and is completely convincing from the outside.
In light of the Disney+ launch. We can now enjoy nostalgic films and one that is under appreciated. Treasure Planet. Odin should make the orb map and captain Flint's costume and his iconic skull.
I've used Vans 110ML JDM Lens Blue Tint Head Tail Fog Bumper Light Painter Paint Spray (it's from Japan) to great effect for making acrylic blue and translucent. It's available from Amazon.
@@OdinMakes You could use Rust-Oleum Specialty Mirror spray. I've used to to make mirrored visors (and you can see thru it, but it is a little dim). I haven't tried making the visor colored as well, but if you're starting out with a blue surface to begin with, it should work.
Awesome! In a next project you could try "spaz stix mirror chrome" on the visor. Punished Props made a Samus Helmet once with this technic, worked really nice!
I like this. I still remember the cerebro helmet from the early 90's X-Men cartoon. That would be a cool build too. Still waiting to see a Megaman Blaster. Lol
just to note, (hope Odin sees this), the basic black inner is perfect as a Timelord Skull Cap (nailed the shape right off)... add the Collar and you'd have it perfect...
window tint definitely works on a compound curve. you have to heat and shrink it on the edges to conform to the curve. its how automotive windows are tinted. none of them are actually flat. If you really want that thing chrome tinted I could do it no problem. feel free to reach out and let me know
Hmmm....how about window-tint in between two layers, would that work? Putting it on the outside of one piece, which would allow you to squeegee it out, and then covering it with another piece?
Did you try using soapy water between the tint and glass then squeezing out the bubble and soap. That’s one way to help get a curve shape done smoothly
Regarding the window film, -what would have happened if you stuck it on before that you curved the plastic? It must have been much easier to glue it down to a flat surface, but would it have cracked or even peeled off during the bending part?
if you do something like this again, a potential method is what some like godzilla mendoza used for spider-man and isac clarke's visor. its called perforated vinyl, its white sticker stuff with holes in so you can see.
Odin you can heat shrink window tint film to fit compound curves, in fact you need to on every car window you tint almost, that curved X would have taken a lot of shrinking but it maybe could have worked
next time when you use the mirror film place it with a little water (without peeling the protection off) with the mirror side onto the front of your shape. then use the heatgun to shape it. now you peel the protection and can place it with water/soap on the back of your shape.
I forget what it is called, but I read once that there was an automotive tint spray you could buy for tinting visors. I'll have to see if I can find what it was called. I did see it on the RPF though in an old thread.
Have you ever made a rebel trooper helmet, and I just can't find it? The blue shirt ones from A New Hope. My son has been wanting to make one and I'm having issues finding a good video.
Try putting a screen over the surface you are painting and remove after paint starts to dry. If the fibers are fine enough you’ll be able to see out, but the light reflecting off the lens from the outside will make it unnoticeable to passerby.
So Odin, as you were wondering, the stuff Halo Spartan cosplayers use in the visor to make it one way and metallic is chrome paint, and they spray it on the back of the visor with an airbrush in thin coats. Trust me, I'm a total Halo nerd, just look at my profile picture. Also I love ur vids!
So the base of the helmet is entirely a dome/sphere but just with cables and the X lenses as its highlights? I know Magneto's and I build one before but X's helmet used to be the same shape as the Cerebro room somehow right? I just also wanted to build Professor X's helmet too but like my own way and style.

Dryer sheet and heat gun to form tint on a round surface
Simple & effective. Nice man. 😎
Reminds me of that X shaped visor Cyclops adopted for awhile.
Alex Lemonds Do u mean the one from new xavier school
I love Scotts Black and Red costume!
I still have no idea how that was supposed to work.
You actually kind of look like how professor X was drawn in the comic. Like the way your face is. That enhances it quite a bit.
Stunning work sir by far the best version I’ve seen of this helmet
Thank you!
The 🏠 of x in the new comic.
Ooo, yes! Please do more of comic stuff! Maybe a classic Eye of Agamotto that opens, or Booster Gold’s little robot friend, Skeets?
Looking at this, I was wondering if you could make the mask from Dredd.
I was thinking that too. Not sure if I can frown that much... :)
Please make judge dredds mask from 2000ad
i was thinking the same thing
I could've sworn he's made judge dredd mask before. Not sure though.
@@OdinMakes LOL
I love that Odin show his mistakes and how he corrects them , he is not afraid to show failure. The helmet is amazing !!
Please do the classic Mysterio Outfit.
Or the fish bowl helmet
Professor X’s new look is something that I’m obsessed with. Your design looks amazing!!
Dr Xavier was looking good.
Oh heck yes!!!!
about time we saw colored acrylic back on the show. i love seeing it used for cosplay
Hey Odin, that Cerebro was awesome! I hope you can make more X-Men props like Cyclops visor, Wolverine’s claws, Professor X’s wheelchair, Magneto’s helmet, Juggernaut’s helmet, and so much more X-Men props.
Gambit's playing card! :)
Odin Makes ok that’s a great idea 💡.
Xieng prod has made a Magneto helmet.
So so so so so so so so much more of x men.
The new mutant is on waiting for in theaters.
This is one of the best builds i’ve seen, looks 10/10, imma have to try this one day
I'd love to see how odin would make a gundam
My cerebro helmet turned out like a gundam hahah
Language!
For the visor I would suggest using something like Krylon silver looking glass spray paint. If you dust it on lightly, it looks reflective and gives you around sunglasses-quality vision.
Marvel is eyeballing Liam Neeson to play Galactus; do Galactus's helmet!!
That would be immensely awesome for sure.
@Literally Cthulhu wegotthiscovered.com/movies/liam-neeson-eyed-play-mcus-galactus/
"This is a lot like working on an oversized Gundam kit."
Odin, please make a Gundam helmet.
Odin, thanks for the shout-out (Stoogeslap)!!! This is the best version of that helmet I've seen yet

Incredible man! You done did it again Odin!
I love watching you make props. They never disappoint.
Using those mesh tubes was brilliant! Bill Doran of Punished Props has a video on dying visors - he used Rit dye for synthetics.
The plastic was blue when I bought it, I was trying to get a mirror finish. Thank you though, Bill is great!
The helmet looks amazing
Coolest helmet i ever seen.
Can you please make a prop building 101/ basics videos showing where to find all the things, how to make the patterns from online photos, and cutting straight or on an angle.
"It's like making a giant gundam kit"
F O R E S H A D O W I N G
I think I like your helmet builds the best, but the weapon builds are a close second. Great vid!
The best prop version I've ever seen!!
Please make Rescue's helmet from Avengers Endgame.
Glad seeing you step up your game in the past couple vids👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Kyrlon mirror effect spray would work. I think the automotive store has several mirrored paint options too.
Hey Odin, heat gun on the tint will allow it to curve. I've tinted 50s cars with wrap-around glass using this method. It takes a gentle touch so you don't melt through the tint but it works.
Use Krylon Looking Glass Silver, a couple really light coats on the inside of the visor, it produces almost perfect two way mirror effect.
For the tint you can airbrush alclad-107 on the inside or pick up a can of spazstix chrome and spray that.
You did this so much better than my helmet. Great work as always good sir!
Really cool. Gotta love to see things from the page come to life.
That's really cool. Nice comic telepaths speech bubble at the end, that was pretty funny.
Duuuuuude. As an Xavier fanatic, this got me hyped. Looks so good!
Followed!
The fact that Odin keeps bringing up Gundam kits makes me happy.
Krylon "Looking Glass" spray paint would probably work for the visor. I know a lot of Halo guys use that and it's what I used for my Mysterio costume. It's not as opaque from the wearer's side as normal spray paint, and is completely convincing from the outside.
This one is so cool
Half way thru construction looks like starscreams head
These videos truly inspire me
Make Ronin sword from Avengers Endgame pls
That helmet would be a fantastic looking VR helm
Great build! Still would love to see you do the Martian EVA suit. Or at least the helmet!
Yesssss
El de los cómics !!!! Con ganas!!!
In light of the Disney+ launch. We can now enjoy nostalgic films and one that is under appreciated. Treasure Planet. Odin should make the orb map and captain Flint's costume and his iconic skull.
there's something called perforated vinyl, people use it in spider-man lenses, so for the x, if you want it to be visible it's a great option
Tint could work if you used the tint that requires a heat gun to finish it and grounded the acrylic to get rid of static electricity
I've used Vans 110ML JDM Lens Blue Tint Head Tail Fog Bumper Light Painter Paint Spray (it's from Japan) to great effect for making acrylic blue and translucent. It's available from Amazon.
The plastic was translucent blue to start with, getting a metallic translucent blue was the problem...
@@OdinMakes You could use Rust-Oleum Specialty Mirror spray. I've used to to make mirrored visors (and you can see thru it, but it is a little dim). I haven't tried making the visor colored as well, but if you're starting out with a blue surface to begin with, it should work.
Try alclad chrome for the back of the visor😉👍
Loves to see you make the mandalorian helmet from the show
I'd really like to know about the visor too as I'm thinking of doing a Cyclops with a similar look...
Use alclad to make two way mirror visor, aply with airbrush
Awesome! In a next project you could try "spaz stix mirror chrome" on the visor. Punished Props made a Samus Helmet once with this technic, worked really nice!
DUDE YES we never get comic builds this made me so happy!
I like this. I still remember the cerebro helmet from the early 90's X-Men cartoon. That would be a cool build too.
Still waiting to see a Megaman Blaster. Lol
I had no idea how badly I wanted this
just to note, (hope Odin sees this), the basic black inner is perfect as a Timelord Skull Cap (nailed the shape right off)... add the Collar and you'd have it perfect...
Maybe, if you apply the window tint to the inside while it's flat, you could heat form it all at once?
The end is sooo cool :D
Now were making comicbook stuffs let's do flashpoint batman cowl amd costume
window tint definitely works on a compound curve. you have to heat and shrink it on the edges to conform to the curve. its how automotive windows are tinted. none of them are actually flat. If you really want that thing chrome tinted I could do it no problem. feel free to reach out and let me know
You should give a window tint second chance. But apply it to flat visor and then heat it and bend together.
awesome helmet. just wondering if you could have put the tint on the mask when it was flat and formed the mask with the tint already applied.
Hmmm....how about window-tint in between two layers, would that work? Putting it on the outside of one piece, which would allow you to squeegee it out, and then covering it with another piece?
I wonder if you buffed the back of the x near your eyes if you could see better? Either way another great video!
As always, Excelsior! I love it!
Thank you!
House of X! :D Amazing build, would love to see more comic inspired projects in the future
Could you add the film before shaping the visor or would the heat be too much for it
Did you try using soapy water between the tint and glass then squeezing out the bubble and soap. That’s one way to help get a curve shape done smoothly
Regarding the window film, -what would have happened if you stuck it on before that you curved the plastic? It must have been much easier to glue it down to a flat surface, but would it have cracked or even peeled off during the bending part?
Can you make a wolverine Claw's , you're great Mr Odin!!
Id love to see some props form the 60s batman tv show!
It's my favorite show ever.
You should make a comic hellboy mask/helmet next!!!
Please oh please make a variety of the plastic, clear guns from, X-Men - Days of Future Past
if you do something like this again, a potential method is what some like godzilla mendoza used for spider-man and isac clarke's visor. its called perforated vinyl, its white sticker stuff with holes in so you can see.
I know I used to sell a spray tint at Canadian tire but it was black VHT made it. Nite Shade black? I don't know if they have more colors.
Wow, your work is incredible! I will be very happy if you make props which are easy for beginners. Greetings from Poland 😀
Could you apply the tint before cutting and heat shaping, or would the heat gun bubble up the tint?
Odin you can heat shrink window tint film to fit compound curves, in fact you need to on every car window you tint almost, that curved X would have taken a lot of shrinking but it maybe could have worked
Can you make zangetsu please? I just love comic and manga props and x men nostalgic for me since I love the 90s show and x men evolution
💘 this part of these shows.
"It's on my head and it smells like Patrick Stewart."
- Wade Wilson / Deadpool
ya should make also the : Professor Xavier's Cerebro Helmet from X-Men movies
A cerebro helmet is a designer in this comic a new one.
@ 8:55 the thought balloon above Odin's head says "WTF this better turn out right or I go back to parting out scrap droids for Imperial credits".
next time when you use the mirror film place it with a little water (without peeling the protection off) with the mirror side onto the front of your shape. then use the heatgun to shape it. now you peel the protection and can place it with water/soap on the back of your shape.
A fun project could be the Red Queen or Devil Sword Dante from Devil May Cry 5.
Hell even the Rebellion would be badass but I don't wanna torchur him making it lol
I forget what it is called, but I read once that there was an automotive tint spray you could buy for tinting visors. I'll have to see if I can find what it was called. I did see it on the RPF though in an old thread.
Love you props and the way you execute them so easily!! Can you make either Magneto's helmet or Cyclop's visor?
Have you ever made a rebel trooper helmet, and I just can't find it? The blue shirt ones from A New Hope. My son has been wanting to make one and I'm having issues finding a good video.
The inner helmet could make a good Valeyard.
The Valeyard is from Trial of a Time Lord. This is Season 23 of Classic Doctor Who.
Love your builds! How about try 1 of the Ian Mckellen Magneto helmets from either "X-Men" or "X2: X-Men United"? 👍👍
I like all of them the x men 🎥.
Awesome 🎥 gusted what a new 🎥 is the new mutants.
Damn Oden sick job next time for tint use the heat gun on low to heat shrink to get rid of those fingers (rinkles)
So the base of the helmet is entirely a dome/sphere but just with cables and the X lenses as its highlights? I know Magneto's and I build one before but X's helmet used to be the same shape as the Cerebro room somehow right? I just also wanted to build Professor X's helmet too but like my own way and style.
Hello Odin. This nice design of helmet reminded me of Robocop helmet. It is nice to design a Robocop helmet in one of your shows.
Could you possibly make iron mans MK50 shield next? It was used briefly against thanos on titan
Try to make wolverine claws or iron man repulsor gauntlet pls...
