Hi y'all, I love the burnt wood. It would be hard to do the cabin, cause climbing a ladder with a torch would be touchy, at least it would be for me. Paint the roof bright red. Lol. Hugs
Wild truffle. Torching looks really nice, but my wild imagination would be looking for faces in the wood. Torching is great for camouflage and maybe seeing a glimpse of BigFoot in the torched wood. Now you’ve inspired me to go get a torch. Mine will be for these darn goat heads we have. (They call them sand spurs here)
Derek #4. Also think of investing in a maple syrup making kit. With all those maple trees you will get some maple goodness in the spring. Michigan homemade natural maple syrup is awesome. Us Michiganders love it
Blend in with Wild Ttruffle for the walls maybe torch the bottom skirting before attaching to the cabin. Then add a contrasting color for the trim and door... maybe black there?
Truffle is my favorite! We burn a lot of stuff, some intentionally and some not! But we especially like our outdoor things a little scorched, we go small to start with! It’s just depends on how arty we feel at the time! Hahaha
I would go with 1 or 2, to be honest. I'm with Crystal. STAND OUT! Torch the skirting like the first third of your skirting sample before you "burnt too much", that's the perfect torch.
I would give Darren the torch if you're going to do the shabin! He did an excellent job on that box! The wild truffle #4 is the closest to blending in with the rest of the trees, Godspeed!
Matches most ...I'd say wild truffle. Its a nice warm colour which would look nice with the white door/window , but also with a black roof. I do like the grey also.
Hi Derek and Darrin. Wild truffle matches the background best. I wouldn’t torch the cabin.its neat but if youhaddone it before building the cabins it would have been better and less chance of burning the building. But that’s only my opinion. Takecareand enjoy. ❤️❤️🥰👍
Truffle's a warmer color, also remember there's going to be a lot of greenery (leaves). I like that one, that may pop enough for Crystal? 🙂 Its small enough so you can always repaint it 🙂
Shou sugi ban is burning (completely) the top layer as a preservative treatment. What it sounds like is you are not using the shou sugi ban as a preservative but merely decorative.
I also love Wild truffle. I like the light burn but the dark is just scary. Also you don’t have running water…so I think burning is a no unless you do the shutters in that.
How about torching just the bands of wood you’re going to put around the bottom of the house before you put them on? I like the black and the truffle for the paint. After I sent this, I saw Derek torch the box and it looks really good. It’s almost like a camouflage.
The Wild Truffel and the Barn Wood Gray are very nice and will compliment the black roof. Either of these two colors will work for the all season camouflage effect you are going for. Question: What is the longevity of the Torched Wood in regards to soil, water and pest?❤❤❤
I like number 1, the dark brown. This is a shabin, and should look more rustic. Grey has been overdone by decorators everywhere and must end sometime!!! (Please God! Let it end!!) 3,4 and 5 do look similar to the woods, but you said you wanted to pop 🎉
To be honest I love the shou sugi ban technique but not on a house or cabin, to me it easily turns more like a 80's wallpaper, it's not ugly but on big surfaces it looks too busy. For a guitar case or an amp though go for it, it looks sick! For the content though maybe you should torch it, especially if that's what she prefers, at least if you end up not liking it you can always paint over it I suppose. I would go with the wild truffle on the house, I think it looks the best
A light burn with poly stain on the skirting would be great. Tourching the whole cabin NO. WHEN BURNING GO WITH THE GRAIN GO A LITTLE AT A TIME❤❤❤❤ # 3 with black trim
Torch it!! If not, I vote Wild Truffle and I'll add torching the A-Frames to your honey do list 😘
I agree
Agree
Torched looks really good and the parts not torched paint in Wild Truffle

I like the wild truffle. Torch the planks that will go around the bottom, but torch them before you put them on.
Exactly 😊
Derek #4. Also think of investing in a maple syrup making kit. With all those maple trees you will get some maple goodness in the spring. Michigan homemade natural maple syrup is awesome. Us Michiganders love it
Wild truffle! ❤the blackened wood and watching all your videos! Thanks for bringing us along with your family.
Thanks for watching!
I love the blackened wood and the purpose is it preserves the wood‼️
1. Torch the skirting. 2. Wild Truffle or Barnwood Grey. Looking great guys!

Blend in with Wild Ttruffle for the walls maybe torch the bottom skirting before attaching to the cabin. Then add a contrasting color for the trim and door... maybe black there?
Number four wild truffle
wild truffle.
Always go with momma!!
Wild truffle 😊 but I think you can torch it!
Truffle is my favorite! We burn a lot of stuff, some intentionally and some not! But we especially like our outdoor things a little scorched, we go small to start with! It’s just depends on how arty we feel at the time! Hahaha
Wild Truffle
Darren beautiful job on the box.
Wild Truffle looks the best…you can add a pop author accent trim!
wild Truffle.
Number 4 wild truffle, torch the planks before nailing it in.😊
I'm gonna go with whichever one Crystal goes with😂😂
#4
Wild truffle
Wild truffle
#4 for sure. I would worry about a wood skirting being so close to the ground and subjected to rain and snow, even with torching.
I will vote for the TORCHED LOOK.
Looks like you should be able to do the cabin. Darren’s doing a great job.
Looks like you should be able to do the cabin. Darren’s doing a great job. Also, I’d like the wild truffle.
I would go with 1 or 2, to be honest. I'm with Crystal. STAND OUT!
Torch the skirting like the first third of your skirting sample before you "burnt too much", that's the perfect torch.
Number 4! Perfect hiding!
The 3rd color blends the most
🙋♀️ Hello you Hard Working Young Men!! 🍂🌻🍁
I would give Darren the torch if you're going to do the shabin! He did an excellent job on that box! The wild truffle #4 is the closest to blending in with the rest of the trees,
Godspeed!
#4 all the way
That looks so nice😊
You did an excellent job. I think number 5
I kind of like the third color choice. That burnt look is really cool!
I love how the grain comes through on the wood 😊
Wild truffel
Wild Truffle. Metal roof.
Matches most ...I'd say wild truffle. Its a nice warm colour which would look nice with the white door/window , but also with a black roof. I do like the grey also.
I agree with you guys on color.
You could torch the cabin w/o burning it down.

❤❤❤❤ I like number three the color❤❤❤❤
That looks pretty cool
Wild truffle matches the best.

I like 4 or 5,and love the light burn look
I like number 2. Number 4 would look nice.
3-5. But personally.i like the torched look❤😊
BURN BABY BURN !! Great camo look. Otherwise #4 blends well
I would torch for sure . It looks great and preserves the wood
Lookin good. As far as the color, 4 matches the best but I like number 2.
#4 Wild Truffle
#4 or 5. I have faith in you that you can do the burnt look without setting it on fire. Plus you will have some water on hand for those hot spots.
I like two you I like it torched a little lighter but it makes it pop great job
#5 and burn lightly on the trim. Just a idea ❤god bless
Get sample paint for all of them and put some on sharing to get a better tter
Black Locust or Wild Truffle. Torching is cool. Just stand by with water or a fire extinguisher. :)
❤❤❤
I like torching the cabin then putting a sealer.

#4 blends the best. But I prefer #1

I like the black and the truffle for the paint.
After I sent this, I saw Derek torch the box and it looks really good. It’s almost like a camouflage.
I like what Daren did .........
I like the black locust or wild truffle lol tor h it if you like looks great.
I vote wild truffle.
Beavis and Butthead 😂😂😂 ❤
😆
Medium burn is much better but it's best to do the burn before applying to the building. Common Homestead has done a lot of that.
😊
Falcon grey for cabin and rare wood for door and trim
I’ve always seen it done before it’s installed.
4&5. Use one for trim the other for the rest of the

I like torching or truffle. White window frames, and something brighter for the door?
I might paint the door also.
4 wild truffle
Barnwood for me....4

I would go with the wild truffle on the house, I think it looks the best
Barn wood Gray
How are you going to protect that wood/siding when the snow starts falling and lays against it for many weeks?
A light burn with poly stain on the skirting would be great. Tourching the whole cabin NO. WHEN BURNING GO WITH THE GRAIN GO A LITTLE AT A TIME❤❤❤❤ # 3 with black trim
Take your time to torch it (medium burn)
The brown rare wood
Change my mind burn effect is pretty awesome
I like it torched
5. Torch it!
5 on colour
I pick the one on top. #5?. As to torching the cabin? Well, if you goof, can you fix?
We decided not to torch it.
I say number 5.
I agree with you and daron either 4 or 5
Truffle
4 blends
Torch the boards then put them on also No. 4 is the best
Just torch the skirting before adding to the bottom. You do t want to torch the cabin and ruin windows and door.
