Indeed they should. Although they claim they’re targeting a more mature audience now, trying to slot themselves in a market position between the luxury manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Mercedes) and the economy manufacturers (Toyota, Nissan, Honda). They say that Mazdaspeed was younger and more immature, and that it doesn’t align with the message they’re trying to spread (probably more refinement while also being fun to drive), although they did not deny the return of Mazdaspeed. They just said it isn’t in the immediate plans

@@fortheloveofnoise from what I’ve heard, the cars they do make are still fun to drive. In fact, Throttle House even said that the steering in the CX-50 feels like it was ripped straight out of a supercar. It’s just that the cars themselves don’t have as much power anymore

As a 2019 owner, I want to point out the gauge cluster actually has a screen. The speedometer is partially a screen. The chrome/silver ring is a physical piece put on top of a squarish display. It can’t be used for navigation unlike other cars but you’re able to customize how the info is displayed (speed, fuel consumption, temp, etc) although there aren’t many options. It will also display safety system information whenever engaged.
I agree about lowering the car and changing wheels, (un)fortunately my car is still under warranty as Mazda offer 10 years in Sweden, so I don’t think I’ll mess around with the springs.

The thing with the rims in my opinion is, it's really hard to find well designed aluminium wheels that fit the curvy and clean design of the Mazda lineup. Most designs of wheels nowadays have some kind sharp angles and stuff which I don't think fit the design well

I love my 2020 Mazda 3 Hatchback! The attention to design is apparent and it looks beautiful stock, but with a few tasteful upgrades (tinted windows, OEM turbo bodykit, slightly lowered with nice rims), it looks absolutely stunning. There’s nothing in this price range that even comes close. I get lots of enthusiastic compliments, even from non-car people.
That rear quarter styling is unique, but it really grows on you, it will age well. The dramatic zigzag side reflection stands out when I see it next to other cars in a parking lot. It just looks so clean in contrast with how busy and overstyled so many other cars look lately. The gestural line flow, good proportions, and contrast between curved surfacing and just a few sharp creased lines is very hard to pull off well and I think Mazda hit this one out of the park.
The interior is high quality with intuitive controls and satisfying tactile feedback, like knurled knobs and a steering wheel that feels great to hold. The center instrument gauge is actually digital with a really convincing analog looking gauge that also displays the current speed limit, which is surprisingly useful. The complaints about rear visibility are overblown. It took me a couple days to get used to, but isn’t an issue with proper mirror adjustment and the excellent blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist safety features.
All that being said, it is an amazing car, but is not intended to be a hot hatch. Mazda is trying to move upmarket and focused on leveling up their perceived quality and they are accomplishing that goal. In my heart I really wish there was a Mazdaspeed 3 manual turbo option, but Mazda is a pretty small company and I don't think that the sales numbers for manual cars would justify it. My hope is that the aftermarket will grow to support the Gen 4 Mazda 3 enough that it will be possible to build something that truly lives up to this car's hot hatch potential.

Not shown in the render is the heads up display. As nice as the gauge cluster looks, I rarely even look at it because my speed and cruise control info is displayed right on the windshield just above the steering wheel. I have a Mazda 3 from 2020 and there is one thing with the C Pillar. Its not noticable while driving. So this car isnt more dangerous than other cars because you would never look there while driving. You look behind your shoulder between B and C pillar and everything after that is covered by your mirror. The only thing i suggest everyone who wants this car, get the 360 camera! Parking this car near curbs and in tight spaces is otherwise rough because of the C pillar.
Btw: The middle gage is a screen and completly digital. Its just very high resolution and so well done, that when showing a real gage it looks like a traditional one but i can be changed to show different informations and look more modern without numbers.

    • @BlakeMcCringleberry
      @BlakeMcCringleberry ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@ちくてぬしくけて That is what makes them the best on the road today. Touch screens require the driver take his eyes off the road, require finger accuracy at a distance while the vehicle is in motion, and provide no tactile feedback.
The rotary input is precise and can be operated without looking.
Mazda's screen is also set further back on the dash so that the whole screen can be glanced at without the driver's attention being diverted from the road.
Touch screen infotainment systems are bad news, and as NHTSA's driver distraction rules get tighter, we'll probably see them fall away in a few more years.

If there was one thing I would change with the Mazda 3 Hatchback, it would have to be removing that tiny third-quarter window and having only two windows on the Mazda 3 Hatchback OR turning that quarter window into a door handle similar to what you see on the Nissan Juke, where the door handle is hidden (I can't believe I brought that up of all cars). I also believe that Mazda should bring back the MazdaSpeed 3 nameplate considering that the hot hatch segment has been literally HOT as of late with the new Honda Civic Type R, Acura Integra Type S, and Toyota GR Corolla, along with other some other hot hatches.

For me, the only thing messing up the design of the hatch is how chunky the rear end is. The previous gen seemed to balance the proportions a bit better. I would take a hatch or wagon over an SUV any day, but from Mazda’s own portfolio, I like the styling of the CX-30 better, and wonder how that model’s greenhouse would look atop the 3’s body. I haven’t chopped up any side profiles in Photoshop so maybe it wouldn’t even work, but I like how the CX-30 doesn’t have that same weighty feel out back despite being a smaller vehicle.

Agreed, the 3 is a masterpiece of economy hatchback design. Having grown up in Canada, I know a FWD platform can deliver good handling, albeit in the Scandinavian manner, provided the car is equipped with the right tires. I'd prefer a FWD manual over an AWD automatic, which by definition is not a driver's car.
Like BMW, Mazda is transitioning away from sporty and toward luxury. But also like BMW, they will not let their cars become soft or floaty. For performance-minded people they continue to build the greatest srports car in the world. But for their bread-and-butter cars like the 3, the Zoom-Zoom and MazdaSpeed days are over. Instead, in the current Mazda3, look for upscale design, compliant suspension, and plenty of torque ,which is what you really need for real-world driving.
I have a currrent-generation MX-5, and am amused that my base-level Sport comes in well under the price of an optioned Mazda3 econobox. Consider that the MX-5 is a dedicated sports car that does not share a platform with any other, that it has an all-allloy, fully adjustable suspension, that its true six-speed manual transmission (no overdrive gears) is the standard of the industry, and that its high-compression 2.0L four will get the car to 60 in under six seconds and all the way up to 136 mph, while delivering fuel economy in the mid-30s, even when used for sport y driving. That Mazda can price it under their economy hatchback indicates how creative this little (by Japanese standards) manufacturer has become.
I successfully persuaded my spouse not to throw away thousands on a rapidly depreciating BMW X3 that would need to be dumped immediately upon warranty expiration due to reliability issues, and instead go for Mazda's class-leading CX-5 mid-sized SUV. Considering its size, the CX-5 is remarkably enjoyable to drive. In the SUV sector, expect Mazda not to get sidetracked with hot-rod SUVs, which to me make absoluteloy no sense except as a destination for people with excess money. Instead, in the SUV segment, Mazda will focus on luxury and refinement as shown in their gorgeous new CX-90, which is available with a turbocharged inline six for smooth power that rivals a V8.
So let Honda manufacture 300 hp, $45k Civics for the arrested adolescents out there, and instead continue to refine the 3 so that in no way will it feel like an economy car. On the whole I think Mazda is on the right track.

You really need to see the dimensions in person. I did and ended up with the top model Sedan! I love others hatches but not this one. Sedan all the way with this model 😁

It is beautiful, what I would love to see if they made a lifted trail like version with wide tires, mud flaps and a cool roof rack. Definitely the most beautiful hatch in the game ♥️

Is Mazda new automatic more fuel efficient than Manuel in 4 wheel drive ?

the Automatic is honestly not bad. As a convert from manual (and I hesitated initially), I still find myself shifting with it on occasion using the paddles.

The rear lights and rear design in general is amazing. Imo, the front lights are a bit boring not maching the rest of the high-end design.

Hey! I love your contents which are special and educational. Can you do a review on Lexus 3rd gen IS? I always think it is one of the most beautiful and carefully crafted design of modern cars, but I just don’t know how to express it in a more professional way. Thanks!

I love my 2015 Hatchback in Midnight Blue, I did'nt know I had a bad blind spot?I think they killed the manuel transmission due to the manual shift ability in the automatic transmission...plus autos are faster. My wife drives a loaded 2021 CX-5, after a 2017 CX-5, We are fans.

The manual isn't available on the turbo because the only one they have can't handle that power level (edit: as for not being available with the NA AWD, still a mystery). As a small company, if you have a choice between putting money into something that will get you closer to where you want to be (inline 6) or something that only enthusiasts will care about (a tough manual tranny with awd), you have to go for the bigger payoff.

This is the only 4 door vehicle I'd buy.
I'd have to go with the FWD because the manual transmission in a main draw for me.
The lack of rear visibility isn't an issue for me. My current daily driver is a Crossfire. It has the same issue.

Most new "cheaper" cars now have body panels that are too large and it creates that warping effect on the sides.

I'm from South Africa I have a 2020 Mazda 3 all trims even the base has Android auto & Apple carplay & heads Up display the only thing I'm disappointed in is only the highest trim has a reverse camera, visibility at the rear is very bad in this car all trims should come with a reverse camera I think. I had to go and put an aftermarket reverse camera cause you have to have one in this car

You know it's a beautiful car and design when you fist look at it. Looks very sleek and professional. You know there's something wrong when the car is not designed correctly for example, the new M2. people can debate that the M2 is unique or whatever but you know you won't get the same reaction when people look at this mazda compared to the new M2

Honestly, I'd probably skip the AWD and turbo, and just get the 2.5 S Premium 6-speed for a lot less money. Having owned a 2016 Mazda3 with the 6-speed, I don't think you need the turbo or AWD to unlock the fun this car has to offer. My biggest complaint about this gen 3 is that Mazda cheapened the suspension. They need to go back to a fully independent setup like before.

My favorite sedan is the present mazda 3 hatchback but I want to see a "real" updated version of the mazda 3. Like update front and rear lights and a suddle shape change but I still want it to be a rounded sculpture. Hopefully they will keep the current shape and just change it a bit

Mazda have made a great turn around in the past couple years. To the point where they are rivalling some German manufacturers, especially the Cx-90. They need to start focusing now on a performance division and bring back fun, fast hatches and sedans. Hopefully the rumours of a 3 rotor hybrid come true in the next couple years and we may see an rx9 to compete with the supra and the z.

If it was my car, it would gave a chrome or satin silver grill and silver wheels along with the beautiful Soul Red Crystal metallic color!
It has more presence that way than being just red and black…
