That’s the same as any game of you want to play at a high level, I was button mashing on VF5 the other day though and I was doing pretty good, ranked up to 5 then stopped because I was bored of it
Been playing VF since the arcades with vf2. This series is a masterpiece for those who love technique over button mashing. The moves and many grabs are also more realistic (not all of course) than other fighting games. That’s what got me hooked.
I love VF5 to death, but still completely understand why it's so underrated and underplayed. There's absolutely nothing flashy about it. It's pure to a fault. Not legitimately, but it's almost like a simulator compared to most other fighting games. Back in the day, I could get my friends to play just about any fighter at least for a little while, but this one, no one cared, there's no casual appeal I guess.
Yeah, the game is fun and has, at least for me, a pretty unique pace compared to other 3D fighters. Just watching it like this is cool because there's some genuinely cool shit happening but for someone who's not actually interested in it in the first place I'd say it'll be hard to snag a newbie just from looking at gameplay footage I agree with you, it's like the EA Sports UFC of fighting games lol
Tekken/soul caliber etc definitely spoiled everyone with the flashy supers and massive rosters, who knows maybe the next VF May eventually follow the lead, the game does have potential
Also has a problem of feeling a bit cheap in terms of sounds and voice acting. At least for the English speakers, pretty much all of the characters besides Wolf sound like they're mocking their lines mlre than doing genuine takes with them. That and the Hit sounds are all over the place in quality. Some sound funny the more you listen to them, others are too quiet on moves that should have more noise to them, hell some attacks don't have any "explosion" effect like most attacks do but have the "explosion" sound still. These small scale things add up to make the game feel a bit "weak" to watch, even while you're playing it. I hope they refine that in some way.
BS. It LOST popular appeal. There's nothing in it that's inherently less appealing. It's just that the alternatives gained monopoly over the market and shaped people's expectations.
