    Very enjoyable video, and a great watch. When you started I thought it's a stupid idea to put a smart module into a mechanical watch but that accuracy and other data of the movement itself is geeky as hell, and I would love to have it!!
    The owner of the company I work for has had a gold plated FC for more than 11 years now, he got it as a gift, and it still looks like new, with just slight hairline scratches. It's a Grand Carree or something like that. FC sending you a watch after you contacted them has made them uber cool in my eyes!!
    👍👍

      I don't think it belongs in every watch ever made, but I like that they are trying new ideas and experimenting with this technology on some of their models. Aside from a few things that are mostly to do with my personal tastes it's an excellent watch based on my experience with it, and I'm really pleased that FC was kind enough to accommodate me with the sample to review.

    Excellent review. Very informative. BTW, I lol'd at the Seiko's double-tick. Thought I was losing my mind.

      Oh yeah, it was in need of a new battery. Seiko's do that when the power is running low.

    Nice looking! My experience is that plating on fashion/table watches and cheaper brands wears off like crazy. Better mid range brands like Citizen, Seiko, Bulova etc. holds up fine with the plating.

      Thanks for watching Allan. I heard someone criticize FC for making watches with Gold Plate, saying something along the lines of that they aren't making watches that last because the plating will just wear off in a decade. I'm sure with lower quality watches that happens, but if I had to put money on it I'm guessing this will hold up as well as my circa 1985 Seiko.

      When you go to change the strap, you'll stratch the lug and that plate will come right off.

    This was a great review. I like the watch but I also think that some of the capabilities are wasted on something so dressy. FC would do well to design a sports/tool watch with this technology. If they did I think they would have a pretty successful watch on their hands. I really dig the innovation 👍☺

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andre appreciate the feedback. I doubt we'll see a sports watch from FC, but they also own Alpina so I wouldn't be surprised if something along these lines comes out from that brand in the future.

    Hi, Guy, I noticed that you recently increased the speed of speech; to say the truth, I really prefer how you talked originally in a more natural and relaxed way. One way or another, I appreciate your reviews, and I think they are always exhaustive and very well done. Regards.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably have been doing it unconsciously, in an attempt to get through the reviews a little more quickly. Hearing complaints over and over about the length of time I spend on a review has probably influenced me to try to move them along faster but still deliver the same amount of information that I normally would do. I'll try to find a balance that what works!

    Great video. Is the movement a modified version of an ETA or a in-house movement by FC? Speaking of the branding HYBRID FC could have just place a HY logo making more discrete

    Thanks for the review. This watch is definitely on my radar now. What was the price range for these?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're not really available at retail yet that I've seen, since it's such a new release, but I think MSRP is around $3500. Not inexpensive, but if it follows suit with other similarly priced watches from FC I expect you will be able to find them below $2000 range.

  • @AndyGarton
    @AndyGarton 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't really understand your criticism of the clasp. On a deployant with a button release, the button or buttons open the clasp itself, they don't affect the sizing system. You have the same "issue" with any deployant which uses a pin hole location system, whether it is friction fit or button release. Some (e.g. Glashütte Original) actually use an additional small screw to lock the pin in place, so it's even more difficult to adjust the sizing. As a "once only" (per owner) operation though it seems like a non-issue to me - I'd much rather know the system was secure so the watch has no chance of coming off my wrist accidentally!

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I mentioned, once it's setup it's a non-issue, but compared to some other deployant clasps I've used in the past I just found this to be the first one I struggled with to adjust the sizing on. It's still a nicely implemented buckle system, it's very secure and it's light weight and low profile.

    • @AndyGarton
      @AndyGarton 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I see - some deployants use a "pinch down" system, where the clasp can lock down at any point on the strap. These are easier to adjust it's true, and more precise, but they are arguably less secure, and carry the bigger disadvantage for me that they are bulkier, because the strap has to bend double under the clasp - hard to explain, but I know what I mean!

      I don't know much about this watchmaker but this watch looks pretty good to me. I would not buy it because I prefer designs from a variety of other watchmakers. But it does appear solid. Nice review.

    Thanks man.. it was really helpfull.. what a great review about this watch..
    But im wondering!! As a hybrid watch, could it last forever? At least the mechanical part!!
    You think it will?? Or gonna be like our stupid phones that we have to upgrade every 5 years in maximum?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an excellent question. I think as long as Frederique Constant continues to support it and develop apps for whatever the latest and greatest phones are it should continue to be relevant. The real danger would be if Bluetooth tech gets replaced and is no longer in the phones you wouldn't be able to connect.

    Nice review. Just confirmed my first impression of the watch.
    Beautiful watch indeed but the hybrid part is not very impressive.
    I would expect more on the dial as here most of the smart fonction are on the app.
    I mean no notification or anything from your phone.
    It could have been better.
    Ok it's a step in the smart-mechanical hybrid direction but still room for improvement… 🤔

    Any tips on the pairing part? I cant seem to get it to work. Its saying the watch has been found but when it asks to press the pusher button again briefly, just tells me that no button press has been detected 😢 ive tried pressing once, for 2-3-4 seconds. Always same

  • @oOoScarecrow31oOo

    For a " dress " watch I would not have done the smart part of the watch as they did it.
    It would be more useful to have notifications from my phone, calendar overlay, maybe a screen on the dial,… 🤔
    I'm not monitoring physical activities with a dress watch: I don't want to sweat on dress watch with leather strap.

      Excellent ideas for 'smart' functions for a dress watch. I agree those types of information would be more appropriate.

    why do these companies put these movements with activity tracking in dress watches!? i guess that the old fashioned cases fit the large movement better than a dive watch style case, plus it seems no companies care to risk putting their money into dive style watches, or aviation style even. kinda sux that ill have to talk myself out of wanting something that i....dont...like? eh i like them.... pretty movement, and the tech is fun. 7 day power reserve! Time to jog to formal events. or look snazzy at the gym?

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suspect we will see this technology making its way into more sports watches as time goes on. FC owns the brand Alpina and they have an analog digital model with a lot of this functionality that looks pretty interesting, although I think it's completely quartz and not a hybrid automatic with electronic module.

    What I find pretty disturbing is the absurd fascination and adulation that people profess for ugly turds like the AP Royal Oak and the PP Nautilus … and that 5 figure sticker price ….

    • @be5952
      @be5952 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would agree.
      The two you mentioned look nice enough, but what *exactly is it about watches like them that justifies the price? It isn't any obvious detailing. So are the movements that much better quality? Are the dials and finishing that much more refined (when looking at them with a loupe, that is)?

    Hmm...plating watch called luxury ?...
    I call it oxymoron. The steel with blue dial looks astonishing and than it`s forth 3500$.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know a lot of people don’t like plating. But solid gold would be significantly more expensive. And there’s always the stainless steel version.

    When I saw this watch I thought it was the new watch.the FC-810. THE FC-810 is 18solid gold size 40. It has 19 jewel 80 hour 40 Hz movement.$15,995 gold and steel $4,795.
    This watch can be a Rolex killer. The watch you are previewing wont touch any competior watch. This movement will take over. You know what means. The Chinese are coming,
    the Chinese are coming! A 40 HZ clone in a Invicta or the Middle Kingdom Xi watch!
