I was diagnosed with Still's Disease last summer. I have had my breast implants for 12.5 years. Booked for October 18th to remove them and a full en-bloc. I am on methotrexate but still get my rash almost daily.

After listening to thousands of stories of patients with breast implant illness experiencing systemic symptoms as you are describing there is going to more to your individual journey than just surgery. My teams looks at a number of tests, including your personal genetics to come up with your treatment plan.

This is amazing, and the most comprehensive information that I have ever heard. I feel as though implants exacerbated my autoimmune. As evidence based trauma nurse, I have doubted the correlation for years much like fibromyalgia.

Have you had patients with endometriosis that was worsened by BII? I know it’s not classified as autoimmune (yet), but since it’s immune mediated and inflammatory I wonder if BII could contribute to worsening pain.

This is a issue that is partly due to the metabolism of estrogen which in driven by genetics.

Dear Dr Robert, what type of tests would you suggest to perform before undergoing a breast implant surgery to identify predisposition to chronic inflammation?

Looking at personal genetics is valuable to understand how you can address toxicity.

Can one flush out toxins from the capsule after an explant where the capsule wasn't removed ? Is it safe to go to saunas when the capsule is still inside 😮 Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. 🇩🇰🙏🏼

There is not enough experience in this area. We have patients wait 90 days after explant to use the sauna.

The FDA asked breast implant companies to do a detailed study of Breast implants and autoimmune disease over 10 years from 2008-2018- 1800 woman developed autoimmune disease after breast implants it was 45% of the participants. What did the company do? They dropped the 1800 woman from the study stating they did look into other factors so they removed the woman (note the study was to look for autoimmune 🤦🏼‍♀️) since 2019 patients have to sign a hold harmless that if you get an autoimmune disease or breast implant illness you can’t sue the doctor or the manufacturer.
Silicone causes a lot of autoimmune diseases MCTD, Lupus, scleroderma, Sjorgrens, dermatomyositis, rheumatoid arthritis system somatic sclerosis and more. These are progressive diseases that will get worse over time. It might start out as fatigue, food sensitivities, rashes and joint pain.

I personally know over a dozen woman who have breast implants and 8 of them were diagnosed with autoimmune diseases post breast implantations. All of them extremely healthy and fit. 3 had them removed and symptoms improved but you will have this for the rest of your life.

@@mcawesomest1 There is merit to this but these disease exist in women without implants. The issue I find is that the patients have limited ability to detox based on their genetics. Overtime we all are faced with increasing amounts of environmental exposures of toxins through food, air and fluid intake. This doesn't included chemicals that are part of products that are being placed on the skin or through other routes of delivery to the body. Once your system is overloaded the symptoms of chronic inflammation will worsen. Having a foreign body like a breast, hip or knee implant can make this even more complicated in my experience.
