Thank-you, Jimmy! The State of Indiana’s tourism agency tends to promote downtown Indy, wineries near Bloomington, and West Baden. The rest of the state is hardly ever mentioned in their materials. I think it’s because they see those areas as targets for economic development. They’ve done this for decades, and people hardly know that there’s an entire “other Indiana”. People that have lived in Indiana all their lives, routinely tell me, that my videos show them things for the first time. That makes me feel good, even if I do this on my own nickel.

I grew up in Floyd County, Indiana... when I was a teenager some friends and I would venture deep into the woods of Floyd Knobs... there was a water fall on a creek we would walk... it was maybe 6 feet in height... not much compared to these water falls, but when it was flowing it was a sight to behold...
iPhone 12 Pro Max, mounted on a very heavy tripod to mitigate wind shake. And there was a lot of that. I was using a Canon XA10 pro camera, but the footage was coming out very spotty. If you look at the fall footage, shot on that camera, you’ll see what I mean.
My parents would take my brother, sister and myself to Cataract Falls for picnics and fishing. This was in the 1970’s and early 80’s for me personally. We always had a great time together there.
Amen Rodger! Life is beautiful.....you just have to look for it ❤️. This is one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing some of your childhood memories. Every waterfall was just beautiful. Thanks again 🤘
Roger, great beautiful footage. There are two things that can defiantly clear my mind. Any body of water and a evening campfire. My 4th great grandfather Samuel V. Smock my have been the first settler to discover Clifty Falls in 1805 while on a hunting trip after crossing the Ohio river from Kentucky. He returned to tell the family about the falls and that he had found a fresh water spring where they would return to and settle in what is now Jefferson County Indiana.
Sunday,May 21. I've really enjoyed the amazing videos of southern Indiana. My family, (Hillenburg) are from Lawrence county. Although I grew up in Indianapolis, and now live far from my home state. It's almost like a homecoming to view your samplings and historically most enlightening. I remember a great aunt married into the Turpen family around Bedford many years ago. So it's possible that my feelings of a trip back home are thereby reinforced. In any case, it's a high point of the day when a new posting is released. I've even planned to bring one or more grown offspring and families "back home" on camping and hiking trips this summer. Thanks for what you do, and also for helping to stir memories of my own distant childhood.
Grew up walking distance from clifty. Deadly off trail, as kids we didn't think much of it. Lots more waterfalls that are equally impressive in neighboring Hanover. Mostly on private property tho. Loving the adventures from beautiful downtown Madison. Thank you sir.
Clifty Falls nearly killed me twice! My two cousins and I scaled the rock wall at Hoffman, and about 10 feet from the top, I started to lose my hold. One cousin grabbed the wooden fence post, and the other held onto him and offered me a leg to grab. It was completely stupid and nearly ended my life. The other time was at Tunnel Falls, and the same cousins and I thought we’d slide down the ravine, to get to the falls. This started a rock slide, and we were all bloodied up by the time we reached the bottom. Again, youthful stupidity. I’ve heard great things about Hanovers private property falls, but haven’t seen a single one. Yet. 🙂
I once hiked to the bottom of the gorge where the riverbed was and walked all the way to one of the falls at clifty. It was brutal but an incredible sight to stand below.

I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks. Why haven't you discussed Marion? Back in the 60's I remember the streets were bricks. There was a place called Matter Park. As you're coming in there was a tiny carnival. Next an ice cold swimming pool. There was also a tiny little museum there that had a fish in it with three eyes I was just a child. And there was also a tiny little zoo. However I can't find any information on any of this. As a child I was there many many times.
You’re the first person to mention Matter Park. Living in southern Indiana, it’s the first I’d heard of it! They seem to have a website: showmegrantcounty.com/places/play/outdoor-fun/matter-park/

I visited that large bull and old tree at Kokomo, last month. Will eventually put them in a video about unusual Indiana things! The tree I saw, may not be the same one you’re thinking of. It’s really big, but a person couldn’t drive through it.
Lots of wading at Thistletwaite, Anderson, and McCormicks Creek. Cataract is deep enough for swimming, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Spring Mill State Park, that manages Cave River Valley, has given permission for groups to bring inner tubes, and float inside River Cave. It used to be a major tourist draw, even had lighting on the inside. You can actually see some of the old lighting fixtures.

Wow! All of these in southern Indiana?
Only Williamsport is northwest of Indy. Thistletwaite at Richmond is east of Indy. All the others are southern Indiana.
They seem to have a website:

@@AdventureswithRoger Thanks for the link. I've researched it for years and have never found any proof of what I grew up with. It's all-new. I don't know why there's no record of the things I remember. However I love all your videos!
@@kraeyarber7121 There might be something at your local library. You’d be amazed at things I’ve found, with the help of a reference librarian!
@@AdventureswithRoger I'm now living in Texas. But that's probably the best place to go and research. I remember a giant tree where you could drive a car through it. Unfortunately it was vandalized and they had to put a fence around it. There was also a giant bull in the park in Kokomo indiana. I appreciate you allowing me to talk so much but thank you
I visited that large bull and old tree at Kokomo, last month. Will eventually put them in a video about unusual Indiana things! The tree I saw, may not be the same one you’re thinking of. It’s really big, but a person couldn’t drive through it.
I live minutes from Clifty falls
Any swimming area with those rivers or waterfalls?
Lots of wading at Thistletwaite, Anderson, and McCormicks Creek. Cataract is deep enough for swimming, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Spring Mill State Park, that manages Cave River Valley, has given permission for groups to bring inner tubes, and float inside River Cave. It used to be a major tourist draw, even had lighting on the inside. You can actually see some of the old lighting fixtures.
