Well... If we were realistic, this chase would end with just one crash to any of this police SUVs. Hell most likely even on these Corvettes despite them being probably lighter than this BMW.
There is some type of mod, he was getting GTO's and SUV's after him on heat 1, and that doesn't happen until at least heat 3. And the game doesn't go past heat level 5 (with one exception)
20 years ago amazingly it's still one of the greatest need for speed games in its EA history I still believe old school need for speed games are better then new ones today and I still play it to this day on the original xbox

Can you escape the cops at levels higher than 10? I didn't see them ever entering back-up period where there are 1-2 cops chasing, so it looks tough as hell. Level 7 cops from challenge series in that slow ass Chevelle or whatever felt like a pain to escape, I don't want to think about level 15.
