This is one of the best instructional videos that I found on this subject. Unlike the Ifixit videos which tell you to just "reverse the steps" to get the phone back together, this one walks you through all the steps from start to finish including replacing the seal and testing the screen connections before finally closing up. One point that would be helpful is to tell the viewer to run the battery down to less than 25% before proceeding. This helps avoid the problem of gaseous emissions or fire in case the battery is pierced. This problem is mentioned in the chats on some of the other videos.
I watched 4 tutorials over this to prepare, this is without a doubt the best one. Everything was perfectly shown and described in immaculate detail, you weren't trying to get viewers in and out within 5 minutes. Paused and followed along with it and successfully installed a new battery in my girlfriend's iPhone 6s. Fantastic work, dude! 🙏
My iPhone 6s has a terriable battery idno if I should replace it or just get my dads upgrade which is an iPhone 11 but I must still pay money to get it
Thanks for the detailed helpful instructions. I used my wife's hair dryer multiple times to soften the adhesive, and it allowed me to remove the screen and battery without a hitch. I put in a 2750mAh battery (1.6X the original 1715mAh). The new battery charged to 100% quickly and lost only 6% overnight (14 hours). The original 6S battery would go from 100% to 20% in 1/2 hour. Due to my fading eyesight (I'm 79), my biggest challenge was removing and reinstalling the many tiny (really tiny) screws. An added caution is to place the replacement battery nearest to the bottom edge so that the wiring to the battery is snug and fits alongside it. My replacement battery came with all the needed tools, the screen gasket, and two battery adhesive strips.
How I missed the good old days when you can just pop open the back cover and slide in a new battery like those old Samsungs. Anyway, this tutorial helped out greatly! Thanks a bunch!
I would definitely state that this is one of the best instructional video on youtube and definitely so for the purpose stated. Though mine is 6S, not 6s Plus, it still guided me through so smoothly that after realizing in the middle of it that mine is different and thus has minor differences in internal brackets screws positions as well as two glue strips vs three on 6s Plus, I still proceeded to the end because the video is extremely thorough and detailed as to how to do it right and also avoid certain problems in advance as the entire process is one shot deal and no corrections possible. I especially liked the fact that the author tested the new battery with the phone PRIOR he buttons up everything together. Very professional job! Thank you, my friend!
Hands down, this is the best tutorial I have seen. I took my time, used plenty of heat and reheated for each of the battery adhesive strips. PULL SLOWLY. All came out perfectly. The new case gasket was the most touchy. I used the I Fix It complete kit. The battery adhesive strip were already attached on the battery. Thanks again. Now I get to do my wife's phone.
Fantastic tutorial, many thanks. Tiniest screws I have ever had to deal with but patience is the key. I took over an hour but hopefully works better now. Thanks again!
Brilliant video. Perfect for replacing the iPhone 6S Plus battery with genuine Apple parts. Don't bother to watch any of other tutorials.., this is the best by a country mile!
A tip for releasing the battery: When you pull on the tab, apply some tension and then wait a few seconds until the tension is released as the glue strip releases. When it does then pull just a few centimetres and wait again until the tension is released. If you just keep on pulling without waiting for it to release, the glue strip breaks.
Excellent tutorial. One of very few that show the ESSENTIAL heating up of screen and battery prior to their removals, correct use of plastic tools (rather than metal which may cause inadvertent damage). Good use of a weighted block and band to hold the screen at right angles prior to screen removal. Also one of few videos showing how to attach a new screen gasket. My only additional tip is to fix double sided tape, or loops of sellotape, to paper to (a) stop losing screws and (b) most importantly ensure each screw goes back in the right place!
Really appreciate the step by step. I've seen others blow through the instructions in a few minutes and I often hacve to pause or rewind, and still couldn't see what they're doing. This is the best tutorial for battery replacement. Thank you
thankyou, I replace my battery today following your guide on this video. it was very helpful for me, thx. if anyone is attempting this repair, please be careful when disconnecting and reconnecting the lcd flex cables (3 cables). during my first attempt of reconnecting flex cables, and plugging in my battery, my phone turns on, but the display is off, but the touch id is working (vibrating as if I need to insert password before using touch id after booting phone). I turn off my phone, reconnect the flex cables making sure they connect well on the both side, I push left and right until they're okay. and the display finally turns on. battery adhesive tabs are important, because if you use doubletape, you will have a hardtime to remove the battery on future replacement. (my last battery replacement was done by technician and they put double tape instead of glue tabs, I had a hardtime getting the battery out).
I walked through the video right with the commentator to replace my battery. With the exception of my kit not coming with a replacement gasket, it worked exactly as he described. Great video! Thank you for the tutorial!
How has your phone been without the gasket? Or did you acquire one? I’m gearing up to do this procedure, and while my kit included a gasket, there’s always that chance that I screw it up and render it unusable.
This is, by far, the most detailed, thorough and helpful video for replacing the battery in an iPhone 6s that I could find. Thanks for making it possible for me to change my own battery!
I successfully changed battery after watching this tutorial. No other video I watched mentioned the blow dryer helping remove glue part, I'm glad I found this tutorial. Thanks a lot for putting into the work.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I was able to successfully replace my battery in 45 minutes by following your instructions. I think the hair dryer to heat the iphone made a big difference in getting the case open and to help in removing the battery.
Thank you so much for the time and effort you used to make your great video. I used all 10 of my thumbs, only lost one of the tiniest screws. Success, my 6s still works more than one day now without recharging. Your step by step made it possible.
I NEVER leave comments but wanted to thank you. Your step by step instructions were soooo easy to follow! My left tape broke but with a little patients I got it. THANKS A BUNCH!!!!
I would like to thank you for making an exceptionally detailed video. It helped me in replacing my swollen battery in my iphone 6s plus phone. You covered every small detail like informing us to be careful with the screws, their different sizes, the PCB etc. I had taken my phone to Apple store and they told me that my phone cannot be fixed !! But I proved them wrong by using the steps mentioned in this video. Kudos to you! Some tips for users: 1) The 5 screws on the display panel are very tiny and their correct positioning while putting them back is important. So I made 5 small paper pockets and labelled them as "left upper", "left lower" etc. That way there was no chance of mixing up plus no fear of the screws rolling away. 2) In my case the battery was really stuck and had no luck even after using a card to nudge the battery from the left. So I used the spudger alternatively. 3) Although a new gasket came with the battery pack that I ordered, I did not remove the original glue and did not put in the new gasket.
O, ok. Got ya. Another video they did not use the heat and all 3 pulled right out. Old battery took a good bending. How do you dispose of it? Will Best Buy or someone take it for recycle?
I approached this battery change with trepidation but your superb step by step tutorial made it relatively simple. One tip for those wanting to attempt this. The screws are extremely small and easily lost.
THANK YOU A MILLION TRILLION TIMES for this! I changed the battery in my iPhone 6s today. This is the BEST, MOST COMPLETE instructional video ever! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the video! However after powering it back up I have found that the phone speaker and cameras won’t work anymore. Any tips or suggestions?
Best and most detailed of all the iPhone battery replacement tutorials. This covers the replacement of the glue strips surrounding the edges of the screen as well, essential to keeping out liquids.
A yery good and thoroughly explained tutorial. Thank you very much! I just have two things I want to add, which some people might find useful: 1.) The order for the screws on the battery connector plate are simple: The longer one goes into the left hole, the smaller one into the right hole. The other way is not possible because the short screw is in fact too short to be tightened into the left hole. I was hesitant beforehand to put the screws back in because I forgot the remember the order. 2.) I know you stressed the importance of putting the display assembly cables back in correctly, but I want to add that doing this can be really tricky. At first I thought I did everything correctly, but afterwards only half of my backlight was working and I feared that I fried parts on the motherboard. I repeated the process veeeeryyyy carefully and to my relief the backlight was working again. So don't panic if the same happens to you - just try it again with a little more care.
I would use plastic tweezers instead of metal. Also, I would heat the phone for each of the three battery glue strips. Otherwise, great video. The explanation of steps and care for delicate parts of the phone is great.
I am so happy that one of the glue tabs broke on you because the same thing happened to me. I was able to remove the broken tab following your instructions. That was the most frustrating part of replacing the battery. Thank you so much for such a detailed instructional video!
Absolutely the best video for Iphone 6S + battery replacment, covers evey detail unlike the rest of the vidoes on this subject. Thanks for the great instructions
I had a mishap that cause all the screws to fall out of my magnetic tray and now I don't know one from the other. Whaaaa! Whaaaa! Edit: Noticed 2 of the screws have a blue mark on them.
Thank you so much man! I just completed replacing the battery successfully in my old iPhone 6S Plus. I did mess up and broke two tapes when pulling it from underneath battery. But managed to follow your second step. One of the toughest jobs I did. I had a broken screen as well. With screen protector, I held the broken pieces together and then removed the screen from the bottom part. It is nothing short of a miracle that the phone seems to work after I replaced the battery. But without your detailed step by step instructions and cautions/tips, I could NOT have done this. You are awesome teacher man. Now I got enough confidence to help others.
This was definitely the best tutorial out there. I also tried to replace my screen but the new screen didn't work when I went to restore and retrieve data. So I had to repeat the battery install a few times, losing the seal in the process. But the phone at least holds a charge, even if not a whole day.
The tutorial is great. I successfully changed my iphone 6s phone battery. Got both tapes broken so had to do the nasty step with the card, slightly bending the battery and worked perfectly well. It took mi about a bit more than an hour, as cleaning the original gasket was tricky, it was very sticky so I had to pay extra attention to it. At the end the phone works perfectly and the new battery works fine as well. Great tutorial, big thumbs up!
Thank you so much. I used this for help with my iPhone 7 battery replacement (in conjunction with an iPhone 7 video), because the iPhone 7 videos I could find all didn't show the reapplying of the adhesive strips or adhesive gasket. The concept was exactly the same as you showed in this video, so it was extremely helpful. Thanks again.
Thanks for this detailed instruction. I followed it exactly and had no troubles at all. Like you show, My battery strips broke and I used an old library card to pry the old battery out, made sure not to bend it or puncture it. I chose to only use one adhesive strip to secure the new battery... its more than enough. So next time it won't be so difficult. The screws are TINY (!!!) and easy to lose. Tape them down onto your table so the hairdryer does not blow them away. I had no issues with the new - replacement gasket, it aligned perfectly with the case.
I also have to say that this is probably the best video I’ve seen to doing a full battery replacement! I particularly like the fact that you made the mistake with the glue tabs, because that way the user could also know how to remove them as well. If I could I get two thumbs up on this. Very very well done. The only caveat I would have, is that your screws should be placed on a magnetic Matt, so as not to lose the screws. Other than that perfect
thank you so much for this video, its saved me. i was going to be charged $150 to replace my battery and so i brought a few one for $30 and did it myself and so thank you again. your video was very easy to follow. from watching lots of these before i have learnt to have a screw map of where the screws come from, its saved me big time
Very clear detailed tutorial and easy to follow. My wife and I still own iPhone 6s, both phones and batteries are working well. I watched the whole tutorial and saved it for future use. Luckily, I already have all the tools in the kit ( Tekton ) that I ordered from Amazon a few years ago. I had issues with the battery not holding charge about a month ago. I almost brought it to Apple store to have the battery changed but the problem was resolved after I did the software update. I will surely use your tutorial when the comes to change the battery. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very VERY MUCH !!! So nice to see step by step how to do this. I just finished the job and my phone battery health is back to 100%. Hopefully I can use the phone now for a few more years. At least for now I reduced my part of the throwaway society by only replacing the battery. Goof luck with your videos. Greetings from the Netherlands.
This was excellent & the only video I've seen so far (FINALLY), that addressed the gasket at all... I was wondering what the scoop was on how tough it might be to overcome the stickiness & get the phone open, AND what the procedure was for re-sealing the phone. My only suggestion would be to turn the phone on BEFORE closing it up, in case a cable connection might be loosely seated. I'd hate to think anyone would turn the phone on & see lines instead of a perfect screen, & then have to waste the seal to open it up again! Thanks SO much... great job! God bless! [6.9.2021]
You did an excellent job of explaining how to replace the battery on the iPhone 6S. I'm glad the adhesive snapped on this video because it did the same as I was trying to remove the battery. Had you not shown us how to manipulate that issue, I would have been lost. I was able to use a credit card and lift the battery and then use tweezers to grab hold of the middle strip which broke and then gradually pull it out. Thanks so much!
So glad about the trick with the battery and the card. My own battery was totally screwed up on the back side (more wrinkles than a witch), the adhesive stripe completely refused to glide out. A plastic card, lots of patience and sensitivity too care of that. Even bent my battery way less than you did yours. Thanks again!
thank you fir this. i came for the part where you put the battery adhesive on because the other guide i watched used a different kind. ended up watching until the end. cheers
very detailed yet concise explanation very consistent with his other great vids. this guy is a real tech teacher, not a youtuber. but every view he gets is well deserved. organized and soft spoken too ... not some noisy presenter with no substance and annoying overcompressed dj music. young guy with twice the maturity. impressive millenial and ive had no good words for your demoraphic until now. probly raised by fantastic parents. power to u man. i will vote for u if u ran for office.
Best battery change video I've seen so far. Clear camera work, precise direction and tips. You would be a great surgeon! Thanks for posting. Will be doing battery change on iphone se soon.
This was an excellent tutorial and left nothing to guesswork. I successfully replaced the battery in my iphone6s+. Thanks for the clear video pics and thorough instructions.
This video saved the day for me! I was getting ready to throw the whole thing in the trash until I saw the hairdryer trick. Immense thanks! Best video out there for battery replacement. Two bad there aren't three thumbs up....
Super helpful! My battery replacement kit did not come with the replacement gasket, however with the iPhone 6s (NOT plus), the screen held in place by two brackets on top of phone casing. Thank you for posting!! The instructions that came with the kit were not super helpful. Your tutorial is five-star!!
This worked perfectly. Thank you. I chose not to remove the faceplate instead holding it securely at 45 degrees with a gooseneck clamp. All else went perfectly without the heat gun. And now I have a perfectly working phone again!!! Woohoo!!!
Watched your video, bought parts I’m about to give it a try, good instructional vid, good photography thanks. I have a newer iPhone but I love my 6+ because it was the last one with a hardware headphone jack, when I DJ I can use this phone as a back up deck, it’s my favorite iPhone, I like it more than the new ones so I plan on keeping it alive forever as a back up for podcasting, for photography, recording music etc. etc. etc., 6+ was the best iPhone ever.
Very good. Very easy to follow. Glad that everything did not work smoothly because it's good to see how to handle problems like breaking tabs for the battery. Appreciate the tips on the screws as well and the heating of the case. Have not tried it yet but feel much more confident having viewed this video.
great tutorial thanks but one MASSIVE IMP info is missing which is-->>if you bend the battery too much it will to start burn inside, smoke heavily and get very hot which will damage the phone pretty bad sooo be very very careful when bending the old battery. I was very lucky to bend it after i removed it so phone is good, just a lot of smoke in the flat
Excellent. Only problems I had were with the fiddly little screws and aligning the connections. Glue strips came off fine. Just needed to pull them slowly. You can hear when they give way, then pull a bit more.
Excellent tutorial. One of the threads stripped on the top right bit with 5 screws so I couldn't remove it but that didn't matter. I just cut the top bit off the sealant and just sealed the bottom 3/4 and was careful when manipulating the phone
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. I just managed to complete this task with a slight problem at the end as I hadn't positioned the screen to the body properly and had to pry it apart to seat the lugs again, which rather spoilt the seal.
I was very skeptical aboout the wholr battery replacement at home thing and was really scared to try it. But thanks to you I did it and I am so proud of myself.
Just finished replacing my battery and gasket this step by step instruction video was very helpful as I also had broken tape and had no problem fixing this with your help thanks again .
Taron, where did you purchase your battery, and is your phone still working. I ask because I have changed my wife's battery twice. I am getting ripped and need legit place to purchase a good battery. Thanks
Excellent video, I am going to work on a battery change shortly. I have to report that while watching the video I removed and replaced my LG G4 battery over 60 times. Sad they don't all come out like non iphones used to..................
Thanks for this. It helped me position the glue strips. A good tip to hold the screen vertical while working on the battery compartment. I have a 6, but this was helped me a lot. Great video!!!
Hello Tygier100. Thank you very much for your very complete video instructions. I followed it 100% and now I have my iphone 6S Plus back to its full capacity. Very good level of details and hints to execute it without surprises. For me it took 1 hour of work from organizing the area to close back the phone including cleaning carefully the sides before adding the new "gasket". Now just adding a new screen protector and it is brand new!!!
A few tips Use the lightest possible finger touch to remove the 2 case screws. Heat screen and start bottom corner. Keep removed screws carefully in same position as removal for replacement. I used an old egg box. Essential to heat the edges and areas near the glue strips. Tape screen to heavy box or use elastic band to avoid removal of screen connectors if you're not bothering with new gasket. Pull, ease, pull the glue strips Position the replacement battery at the bottom end of the case to click its connector back in place.
Thank you so much ! I did it ! It works perfect ! The only thing [ for me , and perhaps others ] one may need a knife, like a box knife if the casing does not come off easily. It helps to pull it apart easily ! Because I did have to use a box knife to pry mine more open. It was sealed tightly. Plus the glue strip inside was also secured tight. So one just has to be patient , and pull gently apart. I did have to use a credit card to loosen the battery from the glue strip. But , I did get it off and the rest was easy.
Thanks for a complete tutorial. My phone is now at 100% capacity. BUT, I made a lot of mistakes Touch keypad would work. Then upon closing the case, it would not work. Six tries. I didn't know what was wrong. I repeatedly unplugging and plugging the connectors. Then suddenly everything starrted to work. I ruined the rubber gasket. Oh well. I'm happy now. Typing this on my iphone.

I totally agree.
6 tries to unplug/plug the connectors.
Ruined the rubber gasket in so doing.
Still worth it.

thank you so much, the heat actually weakens the pull tabs, which is why two of those broke

Thanks man, followed your guide and it all went smoothly! Even 4 years later your guide is still so relevant, thanks again man!
I wouldn’t use tweezers to unplug the connectors specially the battery because you could short circuit something inside the phone
If they have rubber on grips then this is okay
True, I'd not use too.
Luis Aleman thanks for that info
Is there an alternative way to remove the cabels if we are not using tweezers ?
Lim Yu Yang plastic pry tool
A yery good and thoroughly explained tutorial. Thank you very much! I just have two things I want to add, which some people might find useful:

I thought he applied heat to the back of the phone to help with the to removal of the battery.
I am so happy that one of the glue tabs broke on you because the same thing happened to me. I was able to remove the broken tab following your instructions. That was the most frustrating part of replacing the battery. Thank you so much for such a detailed instructional video!
Best tutorial on TH-cam... Well done ol lad.
Thank you so much. Now my phone's lifespan is expanded!
This was definitely the best tutorial out there. I also tried to replace my screen but the new screen didn't work when I went to restore and retrieve data. So I had to repeat the battery install a few times, losing the seal in the process. But the phone at least holds a charge, even if not a whole day.
Easy, peasy....Nice video....Thank you!
Perfect thank you very much!!

Don't know this Parsons
Thank you so much. I used this for help with my iPhone 7 battery replacement (in conjunction with an iPhone 7 video), because the iPhone 7 videos I could find all didn't show the reapplying of the adhesive strips or adhesive gasket. The concept was exactly the same as you showed in this video, so it was extremely helpful. Thanks again.
thank you, its helped me
Thanks for this detailed instruction.
Not supposed to open the phone more than 90 Degrees because of the cables attached to the Digitizer on the top - - DO Not ATTEMPT To Open FLAT !!
Yep it will dent the cables
I also have to say that this is probably the best video I’ve seen to doing a full battery replacement! I particularly like the fact that you made the mistake with the glue tabs, because that way the user could also know how to remove them as well. If I could I get two thumbs up on this. Very very well done.
The only caveat I would have, is that your screws should be placed on a magnetic Matt, so as not to lose the screws. Other than that perfect
北京一卡通好评! Good job Beijing metro card!
thank you so much for this video, its saved me. i was going to be charged $150 to replace my battery and so i brought a few one for $30 and did it myself and so thank you again. your video was very easy to follow. from watching lots of these before i have learnt to have a screw map of where the screws come from, its saved me big time
Very clear detailed tutorial and easy to follow. My wife and I still own iPhone 6s, both phones and batteries are working well. I watched the whole tutorial and saved it for future use. Luckily, I already have all the tools
in the kit ( Tekton ) that I ordered from Amazon a few years ago. I had issues with the battery not holding charge about a month ago. I almost brought it to Apple store to have the battery changed but the problem was resolved after I did the software update. I will surely use your tutorial when the comes to change the battery. Thanks for sharing.
Clear and thorough tutorial. Thank you. Enabled non tech person to change battery and have iphone start up without problems.
Thanks SO much... great job! God bless!

I have watched several tutorials and this is by far the best. I was able to replace my battery within a few minutes. Thank you very much.
Thank you, your tutorial is best on TH-cam. Usually they don't describe all the details like you did. I have just repaired my iPhone.
thank you fir this. i came for the part where you put the battery adhesive on because the other guide i watched used a different kind. ended up watching until the end. cheers
very detailed yet concise explanation very consistent with his other great vids. this guy is a real tech teacher, not a youtuber. but every view he gets is well deserved. organized and soft spoken too ... not some noisy presenter with no substance and annoying overcompressed dj music. young guy with twice the maturity. impressive millenial and ive had no good words for your demoraphic until now. probly raised by fantastic parents. power to u man. i will vote for u if u ran for office.
Best battery change video I've seen so far. Clear camera work, precise direction and tips. You would be a great surgeon! Thanks for posting. Will be doing battery change on iphone se soon.
Bravo. Hands down the best video for battery replacement. No stone unturned!
Your attention to description and technique won you my subscription. Great Job
This worked perfectly. Thank you. I chose not to remove the faceplate instead holding it securely at 45 degrees with a gooseneck clamp. All else went perfectly without the heat gun. And now I have a perfectly working phone again!!! Woohoo!!!
This instruction is also well fit for the repair kit I got from iFixIt. I managed to have my iPhone's battery replaced. Thank you.
Yeah I’m here too because they are to damn lazy to put it back together again
Saw the same vid, no reassembly instructions, no gasket seal instruction, this kid rocks!
Thank you. You have removed the “mystery “ of replacing an I Phone battery!
What a thorough video on battery replacement. . You get an A+.
great tutorial thanks but one MASSIVE IMP info is missing which is-->>if you bend the battery too much it will to start burn inside, smoke heavily and get very hot which will damage the phone pretty bad sooo be very very careful when bending the old battery.
Wow! Great explanation! iPhone 6s is not easy to change the battery, but these instructions got me through it! Thanks!
Love your tutorial. It was easy to follow. Do I need the seal gasket though?
Detailed video. Thank you so much! My battery kit did not come with a new gasket. I hope it's ok to use it without it...Phone is working just fine!
it just means its not as water resistant just dont chug it in water
Thanks for making what seems like a complicated process look easy. I am going to try it.
Adhesive installation strips installation is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
This tutorial is very well done. I was able to swap out the battery on my mom's iPhone 6S Plus with it and it works like new. Thank you so much sir.
Thanks for this. It helped me position the glue strips. A good tip to hold the screen vertical while working on the battery compartment. I have a 6, but this was helped me a lot. Great video!!!
Best tutorial I've seen hands down. Thanks for the help! Battery is now replaced and phone functions great!
where did you get your battery from?
Hello Tygier100. Thank you very much for your very complete video instructions. I followed it 100% and now I have my iphone 6S Plus back to its full capacity. Very good level of details and hints to execute it without surprises. For me it took 1 hour of work from organizing the area to close back the phone including cleaning carefully the sides before adding the new "gasket". Now just adding a new screen protector and it is brand new!!!
Glad I found your tutorial definitely could not open the phone without the heat. Thank you.
Thanks for the info. I bought almost the exact same kit from Amazon and was able to follow almost all the steps. Thanks for sharing!
A few tips
Use the lightest possible finger touch to remove the 2 case screws.
Pull, ease, pull the glue strips
Position the replacement battery at the bottom end of the case to click its connector back in place.
Very detail. Helped me to replace the battery within 10 mins.
BUT, I made a lot of mistakes
Touch keypad would work. Then upon closing the case, it would not work. Six tries. I didn't know what was wrong. I repeatedly unplugging and plugging the connectors. Then suddenly everything starrted to work.
I ruined the rubber gasket. Oh well.
I'm happy now. Typing this on my iphone.
thank you so so much for this, very much appreciated
Ifixit's tutorials were a bit vague for a first timer, yours was great and thorough.
