Nice product, one big deal breaker for me is its designed for landscape. Because of social media, i take photo and video 99% of the time in portrait Using it on portrait mode is awkward on the hand/arm. Tripod screw is for landscape only. I hope they make it next time to pivot or "slide" to portrait while your grip remain. There are competitor there that do that, but quite expensive.
Agree. It would have been nice to be able to rotate to portrait. On the other hand, I also think having that feature would make the product bigger and more expensive.
@@dadstoysnthings have found the issue. You first should ensure that your camera settings are set to shutter. Not using the volume buttons to zoom. Then it all works
Weird product from Ulanzi seeing how this has slightly worser grip than the other one with camera. I wished that one had the fill light capabilities. Or at least switchable with the mirror.
I only used this with Samsung phones, and I can say it adds a lot of stability when taking photos and videos. It makes it easier to hold the phone for long periods of time.
I purchased the kit with mic and small tripod...Few things: Mic doesn't come with cord to connect to iPhone. It only comes with 3.5mm jacks. Second, if you put mic with dead cat diffuser on top of this gadged, the dead cat is visible in your shot - not just a bit - but ALOT. Thirdly, the supplied tripod is super weak, you cannot tighten up the adjustment enough. So if you are considering purchasing the kit with mic and tripod - for get it. Not worth a penny. The grip itself seems to be just fine. Thank you
Thank you for watching! I bought this mainly to have a proper grip on my phone and for the light. But yes, you can mount a mic on the hot shoe and a minipod on the bottom. There's a digital mic that I use sole for this purpose, but it uses USB-C connection. In my case, the lens does not catch the dead cat.
@@dadstoysnthings : Follow up: yesterday, we lost the remote attachment. Now the light cannot be turned ON, and since the camera trigger is part of the removable remote - camera cannot be triggered. Bummer. The remote attachment is not really held firmly on the body of the phone holder. Yes, there is a magnet, but if you hit it with your hand, it will easily fall off. I suggest you SuperGlue it to the handle, or secure it with tape
@elmono3939 Sorry to hear that. The remote is held in place by a magnet and two pins, but yes, you can knock it out of place if you hit it in a certain way.
In camera setting under shooting methods then under press volume button pick the 'take picture or record video' from 3 different phone model I try only s23 ultra can utilize the zoom button when change this setting
@@dadstoysnthings ah, this is what i wa looking to hear...i have a S9+, this device works zoom for S9+? Thanks in advance for a honest answer, i want to buy one, and i want to know if zoom works in S9+, i know the settings in photo to set the zoom buttons, i just want to know if zoom works ok for S9+.
Thanks for the comment, you may have purchased the Ulanzi CG01, that one has a single button on the remote. But honestly, that's all I ever use as the other buttons are not compatible with my phone. The light however is a big factor why I chose the CG02.
@@dadstoysnthings I did get the 02 because I have the light but maybe they put the wrong remote on mine. I don’t think I would use the other buttons either. Thanks for the reply!!
Thank you for watching, very fair comment. The Notes and Ultra S23 can use their pen as a remote, but this device provides a better grip specially if you're taking videos. And the light is a big plus. You can also use the coldshoe adapter for an external mic. And at the bottom there's a 1/4 adapter so you can use a minipod if you want to get a little bit more distance for talking heads when vlogging.
Your comment that it is a grip for right-handed people and not for left-handed people is wrong, since there are no cameras for right-handed or left-handed people. They are all for right-handed people.
Two points: there are no connectors so that's a cold shoe not a hot one and I don't think that conventional camera makers like Nikon, Canon, Fuji make special editions for "lefties" either - otherwise a decent review, it helped me make up my mind to buy so thank you.
You are absolute correct, I got into this habit of calling it a hot shoe, so thank you for the comment. As for the leftie, again you are correct, most phones can be held in reverse and the camera will adjust accordingly. And with an estimated 36million left-handed individual in the US alone, that's also a very good market.
@@dadstoysnthings In my family alone myself, one of my brothers, his son and granddaughter . . . I think we're over represented in the left handed stakes! Age 72 I've just got my first left handed fountain pen (a German made Lamy Safari) and it is a joy to write with. Enjoy the up coming holidays!
@jeffreycrawley1216 I hear you, some products they're able to make ambidextrous, and some are more challenging. And thanks, Happy Holidays to all! Thanks for the comment. And definitely you can take great videos from your phone without it. For me, it was a tremendous help as it gave me a firm grip on my Note 10+ and Galaxy Ultra 23, both big phones, especially when taking videos. The video light helps as well for night shots.
@dad's toys n things how come your remote have 3 buttons becasue everywhere i am looking is only wit hone button. Thanks

I really like it😍
they should've addped connector pins (like on samsung tablets) to be able to connect/charge remote, it'd also get rid of the 2nd usb port
That makes sense. I can't wait for the next version!

No fumbling holding your smartphones/cellphones for selfie or family picture and use external remote too
Great but does not work for my s23 ultra. When i press the shutter from the remote, the zoom is activated. Not the shutter.
Try to pair it once more, I'm currently using it on my Samsung Galaxy Ultra and the shutter works well.
@@dadstoysnthings have found the issue. You first should ensure that your camera settings are set to shutter. Not using the volume buttons to zoom. Then it all works
Hey, thanks!
Do you charge the light? Or do i have to change the battery?
The light has a separate and built-in in rechargeable battery.
What are the upgrades from the PH10?
I think they're the same product cause UURIG is also Ulanzi.

They are made for "Smart Phones", so it is not surprising it not full functional on an "Average Phone" :))))))

Does the zoom function work with the s23 ultra? If so how?
Unfortunately, I never got it to work with my S23 Ultra.
Mine didn't even work with the button to take the photo, when I use it, it moves something in the photo, but it doesn't shoot 😢
In camera setting under shooting methods then under press volume button pick the 'take picture or record video' from 3 different phone model I try only s23 ultra can utilize the zoom button when change this setting
This is not suitable for video shoot along with Rode mic, bcoz it disturb while connecting mic cable...😊
I use Comica wireless, but I use a minipod as it becomes unwieldy if you add anything other than the phone.
Can this be used for Android phones?
Yes, I've used it on Galaxy Note 9, 10+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
