Why is everyone harassing her about not being a vegan? That kind of behavior is why so many people are annoyed by vegans. She is obviously eating healthy, leaver her alone. Her diet is her decision.
earth c, in any case, that is her choice and hers only! Nobody has the right to harass her or tell her what to do. I think, that was the point of the original commentator.
Anastasia Soboleva- That's funny because no one asked the animals if they were ok with people making choices for them on wet her they should die or not(I know they can't speak and that's my point ) it's not really her personal choice if you're involving another being. And if she's trying to live a waste-free life you should go vegan because that's the best way to do it. Btw dairy cheese... Is not healthy.
The way I see it, she is helping the environment by living zero waste. She does not have to go vegan! At least she's doing something to help the planet!
If you can't commit to being vegan, just be cautious of what food you purchase and make sure you consume all of it. Food wastage also contributes to global warming
I completely agree Cassie. If we all made a few small or major changes we are comfortable with, everyone would be better off. But there's this all or nothing mentality that I think intimidates people. It's ok to have boundaries around what you are and are not willing to change at any given point.
Sophue Amy an inviramentlest is someone who takes the environment as one of there main concern you saying that she is or isn't something just makes people who are just starting to reduce there inviromentle impact get intemedated, feel judged, and get defensive which can make them feel like this community is not right for them. In my opinion the best thing we can do for the planet is to be inclusive and incurige any change for the better no matter how big or small.
Keeping Up With The Joneses not all packaging is recyclable tho. Like chips or foods that come in plastic bags. But if ur looking to reduce ur waste by avoiding these plastics then u'll be eatting healthier too since most snacks are wrapped in plastic!! :D
Mimi Wong actually you can reuse chip bags! The girl that lives across the street from me asks me every afternoon if I have an empty chip bag (I’m in college so 99% of the time I do) and she does these cleaning and folding things and makes purses out of them and they’re gorgeous. You can’t tell they were ever chip bags
To all those "Vegans" commenting negative things. I'm a vegetarian, I think what she is doing is awesome. Anything helps, so by putting someone down for not being vegan, vegetarian, driving a car, etc. isn't helping. Everything hurts everything, I'm sure that by just being a vegan, you are still hurting the planet because you take a 10 minute shower, use makeup products, etc. You have no right to tell her that she isn't doing enough. You're sitting here wasting electricity commenting hate on this post so settle down.
There's a difference between intentionally and unnecessarily hurting other sentient beings and driving a car, using electricity, things that don't have an alternative and no other way around. You don't have to kill animals to fulfill your dietary needs but you do need electricity to communicate with others over a long distance and cars to travel. We don't have telepathy and can't teleport. But we can switch from dairy milk to plant milk, dairy cheese to plant cheese, dairy meat to plant meat and poultry eggs to plants eggs. :) we can make the switch. I don't mean to attack anyone. In fact, veganism is all about NOT attacking ANY BEING. That involves humans and animals alike. We don't discriminate between species unnecessarily. Peace.
Ananya Ray not everybody can be healthy with the same diet. You have a phone? Congrats, you are adding to waste just like the rest of us. She is doing a wonderful job of trying to reduce waste. Vegans go out of their way often to harass and bully others into their life styles. Not only that, a lot of those vegan products are still packaged with harmful plastics.
yes!! i’m veggie too (and a milk allergen, so i used to be vegan, but i decided to continue eating eggs haha) and nobody should ever feel put down just because other people want something to complain about!! i apologise on behalf of all vegans & veggies 🥺❤️
Could you do a zero waste video shopping somewhere else, like a chain supermarket (Aldi, Kroger, Walmart, Publix..etc) we have nothing like this store where I live.
sandy beach not quite as good, but there is a chainstore called The Source in Australia, that's where I get a lot of my snacks, pastas, cooking oil and shampoo plastic free.
I have a small shop in my city where I buy some unpackaged goods. It's a little bit more expensive than a supermarket, so you have to pay attention to the price. Because it is such a small shop, you get more service - you can weigh and label your containers at the beginning, they have funnels and spoons... They even fill up bottles with oil. And at the end they check you out - without any plu numbers. It's also in walking distance so very convenient for me.
How does the store not know you're not lying about the tare weight (to save money)? I wouldn't think you'd lie, but I'm surprised the store places so much trust
The Witch Named Savana, you can store the tare weight of the jar on the notes app on your phone and take a picture of the item/plu number of what you’re getting directly from the bulk bin. That way there is no paper/plastic waste. I do that. Even at Whole Foods.
At my local store we have scales to weigh our containers, it prints out a label to stick onto the container and you scan it at the checkout before weighting the food and it does the maths automatically!
Aw don't be sad based on what you saw in this video. I purposefully went in at their least busy time (right as they opened) and I edited it so that no other shoppers or workers were shown. The store is actually doing really well and is quite busy!
there is no way i could go waste free, it's just not possible with the resources in my town, but i will definitely carry on some things i saw in your video! thanks for sharing!
The are ways you can still take part. 1: Have a reuseable water bottle. 2: use your reuseable bags everytime you shop. 3: recycled loo paper from who gives a crap order online and they deliver to your door. 4: take a packed lunch as often as you can when going to work or out. 5: You can get cottom sanitry towels and make up remover pads on amazon and other places. Simply wash after each use. 6: maybe buy how to give up plastic by will Mccaullum for more ideas and how to make simple swaps.
KD Do its relevant because reducing your trash output is just a scrape on the surface if you’re still eating animal products. animal products are the number one producer of greenhouse gases. it’s simply hypocritical to work to reduce your trash output while drinking milk and eating meat.
You’re not wrong! It just weird to be conscious of something that has a comparatively low impact while not caring about daily actions that cause a HUGE impact.
GloKiersen okay but.... not being vegan totally negates her zero waste lifestyle... she's doing it to save the earth, but she'd be doing more by using plastic and being vegan. It just doesn't make sense for her to preach save the earth when she's doing the worst thing for it.
You know I used to say the same thing... before I went vegan LOL it's the best thing you can possibly do for yourself. She may not want to right now but when you learn more about what it can do for you and everything around you... How can you not want to?
@@mincloudmincloud - Awee I'm sure you do, and like I said I did once too. I mean I still do actually I just choose to put other people's lives, and animal lives, and the environment over my taste buds because I'm fighting for something greater than a quick meal.
Dede Ortiz I like eating those thing- I’ll also have you know (because you’re in fact making a lot of assumptions) that I buy local. I eat free-range, grass-fed, etc. The companies in which I buy meat, eggs, and dairy products are all small businesses that cater specifically to my community. You make me sound like I’m a monster, unaware of the horrors that lie in the meat/dairy industries- believe me, I’ve seen it first hand. You misunderstand- I care about people and I care about animals. Enormously. And I’m not just “satisfying my taste buds” or “looking for a quick meal.” I take great consideration in where my food came from. You may still have your opinions of me, because I will continue to eat meat and consume dairy products, but I think you’re generalizing my position as a non-vegan a little too much. I appreciate your comment and perspectives, however, I respectfully stick with mine. Have a great day.
i don't have a car and i'm vegetarian and i've been making mountains of garbage with packaging. thanks for helping me see the light! zero waste, the next obsession!
olani26 yes! A lot of packaged food costs more because you are paying for the packaging along with the food inside it. In bulk, you skip cost of packaging. I wouldn’t be commenting if it wasn’t from experience.
Veganism is not the wonder-pill for the environment. Many "vegan" alternatives for non-vegan goods are made with alternative ingredients that may require intensive chemical treatments to satisfy FDA requirements or the ingredients have to be shipped from other countries. Either of these result in significantly more waste and energy use than non-vegan goods that just don't require those extra steps because of the infrastructure or climate or even just chemical composition. Veganism is a personal choice, and the morality and mentality of it are wonderful, but please do not compare being choosy with food you eat to the way this lovely woman has uprooted a normal and easy lifestyle to make a real impact. They just aren't the same thing.
Or you just choose the whole foods vegan diet and the zero waste lifestyle. I don't understand why people think you have to be fancy with veganism...if they are, they don't understand the purpose of veganism, which is to adopt the most ethical lifestyle possible (but mostly focuses on the life of animals), but if they were really vegan, they would adopt the zero waste as well, since plastic hurts sea life and other animals. Not to mention the over production of animals, leads to their waste (poop and pee) into water supplies and the oceans, and the deforestation of rain forests to grow crops to feed those livestock, which hurts the environment even more and the animals inhabiting it...so, yes, I would say it's much much more environmentally friendly than "just a diet." And it does very much make an impact like this woman does.
R S It is fine that your vegan but don’t harass the girl for not having the same ideals as you.its not your life to impose your morals into nor mine live and let live
@@ololadeadeleye then about the animals? Do they want to die so you can enjoy a four minute meal? Why does live and let live apply to only one species, humans? Why can't the animals who clearly do not want to die and get their babies stolen from them not granted a life? Why?
This is exactly why no one likes vegans. It's her choice. She's doing more than most people. Most people aren't even conscious or give a fuck about the environment. Also the fact that she drives a car doesn't mean she's fake. Not everyone has access to stores like this within close proximity. People need to stop being so judgmental and be thankful she cares enough to be doing this in the first place. I'm not vegan either and I'm happy knowing I'm making a small difference.
Karen Ramone00 I dont care if u like me or not, we are doing it for the animals, not for easily triggered people with no to zero knowledge about veganism impact. Why won't you just ignore those comments about veganism? Are you defending somebodys choises? Well, vegans defend animal right to just be and not be comsumed.you defend that woman and claim nobody likes vegans. Well we defend animals and find this woman kinda not seing whole picture on sustainability.
You say that as if her choice doesn't affect other beings. No one's hating on her just informing her that she's not living up to her expectations of being waste free. Animal products do cause the most waste
@@dedeortiz1041 Seriously. No matter what other decisions your make, being zero waste, not eating meat will outweigh all of them. It's one of the best things you can do for the environment.
Wow! What you do is amazing! I knew about this lifestyle just a couple of months ago and I have been trying to adjust to it. I have to say it is really hard to be conscious and actually plan all your shopping to avoid plastic containers and so. Thank you! You are an inspiration
Its fun isnt it? This movement is also makes you spend less money for your groceries and daily needs. And for my self living in a village makes me almost producing zero waste, we pick our own veggies, buy things in traditional market which plastik bag unavailable, the challenge is like tissues and other modern things we find in package. Small movement but big impact, keep it up
Thank you for making this educational video, you are doing exactly what Mahatma Gandhi was talking about, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
I didn't even know about food co-ops! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your videos! Did a local search and found 3 co-ops!!! I'm so excited I can't wait to stop in and shop locally! It's going to save me so much money since I've been having to order all my bulk organic goods online.
I’ve never done this because I get so anxious of doing something wrong and messing things up at he grocery store. BLESS YOU! I’m doing this my next trip! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’m thrilled that she isn’t a vegan. Veganism doesn’t own the zero/low-waste lifestyle and it’s hugely beneficial for people who AREN’T vegan to see people like them being reflected from within this lifestyle. Make the choices which are good for YOU.
Before vegans come at me I should point out that I am vegetarian and don’t use dairy. I eat eggs from my friends’ pet chickens (who really don’t seem to want them?), support my local apiaries and I use wool and (more unfortunately) leather and some down. As an ideal for humanity, veganism is probably up there but at the moment it’s simply not realistic. Instead we should be championing changes that people actually can and WILL make and we need to acknowledge that becoming more eco-friendly is a process. Nobody should feel forced into sudden or dramatic lifestyle changes and it’s disappointing that many vegans don’t accept that.
Omg I love that this video came up! I've been trying to find ways to be more friendly to our environment and this co op is definitely my favorite place to shop. (We met a couple months ago when I first moved to town & bonded over our love for Eric) I'm so excited that you made this video and it actually helps a lot! So cool to see our little towns grocery store in a TH-cam video haha
Going zero waste is very much a privilege, especially for those living in or near big cities. Many people don't have access to bulk/zero-waste stores and eco-friendly products are a lot more expensive in the short term which makes them a hard sell to low-income communities
Permanent marker actually will wash off of glass jars fairy easily. She could try, but just a little scrubbing would make it come off. She could bring a bunch of the same jar and just know the weight since they are the same.
Very cool - very inspirational! I used to do this and then stopped for some reason (bad lazy mommy!) But I am totally getting back on the wagon - just told my husband we need to really reduce our waste and he agreed. We are like rabid dumpster divers so we are preventing landfill waste in sort of a different way - for some reason those seem to be our most popular videos. Anyway, you are adorable and I have just subscribed and rung the bell!
it can cost more but some items are less. You have to see it as an investment. I shall be using my independent waste free store. They say it costs more to fit the shop out to look nice with the dispencers. They have to clean each one as they empty out. Due to cross contamination they can't just get a new bag of rice ect and pour it in. It needs cleaning first. Then the is the staff that have to be trained in weighing and stocking up cleaning and till skills. This all costs time and money. The one I plan to go you have to weigh all the product. you have 2 stickers. One is the tear waight the other is the priduct you are buying. Staff will often have to help new customers at first. If you find something is too much you can have less. but you can't have too much then try and pour it back in the dispencer.
I work at a grocery store, and another tip if your store doesn't have scales all around you can give your cashier an empty container and ask them to zero their scale with the empty container on it!
Our local CSA has a 24 week timeframe (yours may be different based on growing season) Fresh fruits Veggies Honey Eggs And Meat can all be gotten on a CSA. Some CSAs also provide cheeses. (Keep in mind not all CSAs are the same but all of them support the local farms and local economy.)
Victoria 31 bags are used for many different things from purses, grocery, sports and even organization! We have many different patterns and even personalization! If you are interested in taking a look at a catalog I can send you a personal message with the link. 😁
Thank you so much for this video! I was pretty good with reusable containers but somehow fell out of the habit, this reminded me that I need to get back in to it, and you taught me a couple of new tricks too (like the bring your own funnel thing- I even have a pocket sized collapsible funnel too!)
I wished the supermarkets from my place would encourage zero waste shopping. Sometimes they even insist to give plastic bags even when I bring my owns! Your supermarket is goals 🙌
I watch the video already 3 times . It's so inspiring . I'm trying to live zero waste to . Is nice that I don't need to go to a balk supper market but a normal one and buy everything there . I even manage to buy meat products in my own containers and is nice to here some positive comments from the people who are working there .
Ugh I wish I knew where this was since I'm in the north east too😂 I've been trying to live this lifestyle but it's hard when there's not much I can accomplish food wise
I live in Western Cape, South Africa & no shops have bulk shopping options for beans, rice etc. So quite frustrating when trying to do my bit on waste. I do use fabric shopping bags. Whenever buying fruit, i put it in mesh plastic bags that oranges were sold in originally. The person that weighs fruit always look at me funny cause i do not want to waste using extra new plastic bags for each fruit item. SA could really learn from America re having bulk options.
@@white_clover767 Great! Thank you for informing me, i appreaciate. Will first go check out FLM at Tygervalley and get mesh bags at WW. Problem is not everyone can travel to CT. And i generally shop at Spar, but i will certainly travel for buying bulk.
KristinNirvana sorry but not everyone will think that way, most see animals and humans in different spectrums therefore making your argument sound silly to them. You obviously don't see it this way but others do.
KristinNirvana Well...I hope you're living waste-free, drive a car that uses no gasoline, abstain from drinking from bottled water. If not, pass your judegememt and hypocrisy somewhere else
OMG! I love it! I live in Poland, we won't have shops like yours in 200 years or so. Or maybe never. I'm trying to reduce waste in my family, I won't be zero waste, but I'm trying so hard every day. Hope people will understand someday that we need to take care of our planet. All the best :)
I’m not sure where you live or if you’ve been able to go to local produce markets, but there is nothing better than this fresh of produce, it’s addicting! It’s not something I can always afford but I specifically only buy my peaches locally from a market, when I’m craving them 😍
@@OwensAcres Its more difficult to grow and cultivate crops without using pesticides and other chemicals to stop the plants from dying. It's well worth the cost though!
Thanks for the video, it was very informative. Please don't let anyone bully you into being a vegan. You are entitled to eat whatever you want. Blessings.
I just found a very similar store where I live and its only about 2-3 minutes of walk away from my home (: Can't wait to visit it and start buying local products there
This practice of zero waste , people in all the developer nations are so fascinated about is really pretty old trick , still 90% populations are following today. I recently being to U.S . Couple of things made me very sad. 1. People are using too much kitchen paper napkins or tissue papers. In India, I have never seen that in my house or friends or relative's house. I am from a upper middle class family, There my mother and grand mother always used the clothes. So that they can clean it if it got dirty. 2. People are too much using plastic bags, There we always use the tote bags which is very reliable and reusable. 3. Here in U.S., People too much use packed foods or processed foods instead of fresh cooked foods. 4. In U.S. people drink too much soda and processed fruit juices. In my family , we generally prepare lime juice, orange juice at home , Rest use as fruits only. In summer , we usually make Mango Lassi and Lassi. Here in U.S., people don't prefer to make it. I am not getting the reason ,It's because of laziness or not habituated or not educated enough. 4. Here in U.S., people won't do the car pooling that much. I tried with couple of people but it's like people are feeling it's a burden after sharing gas price also. In India we used to car pooling, bike pooling a lot. 5. In U.S people won't do more shopping on Markets or Farmer Markets. In India the Farmer Markets are 10 to 20 times larger than these tiny markets. We usually call it Vegetable Mundi. 6. In U.S people used to eat lots of sugar. In everything you will find sugar. Including sports drink also. I have seen till this in my university, all used to drink more coffee, ice tea, soda, flavored water. But taking only water ,that percentage of people is pretty bad. It might be tends to 2% - 4%. In India, people used to drink lots of plain water. I can say in my family, relatives and friends taking other feel like water items are 2% - 4%. 7. Here in U.S , people very quickly dispose things instead of reuse. In India, reusability is very popular. These are my personal observations. Just one thought, if 1.3 billion people will start living like U.S. then there would be no place to dump garbage in couple of years in the whole world.
@@jessicathompson236 it does depend on the individuals but it isnundeniable that the mass majority of the people who live here in the US fall into these guidelines this person listed
the United States has gotten pretty bad about disposables. it's ridiculous, but there's a reason behind everything. for one thing, we have different standards than other countries and many lead a fast paced lifestyle and our families are "nuclear"... and there are many other considerations. People like me are very conscious of waste and looking for ways to reduce. But, for example, I have seen a lot of elderly relying on disposables for a level of Independence. How can you tell an old person who can barely care for himself, who's living with pain to give up things that make their lives doable? There are some undesirable practices in India, IMO. We can all learn from each other, can't we? Thanks for sharing your observations.
How do you make sure that the supermarket doesn't just open normal plastic packages of the products just to sell them without packaging for more money? That would just produce the same amount of waste except the seller produces the waste, not the customer.
If they are going into bulk bins, it would be a waste for the store to order individual packages and then have someone paid to open them and toss them in the bins. More likely, the amount in the bin was packaged for use in those bulk bins, so even if they are in plastic packaging, they use less surface area of plastic for more product. Does that make sense? I feel like I just rambled.
it's true the bulk items are shipped/delivered to the store in bags but they are like 25 lbs, 50 lbs or even 100 lbs bags so that's how this store contributes to less packaging/waste for those who are trying to reduce, reuse, recycle, etc...
bulk stuff normally comes in either a huge 5-10 kg plastic/paper/string bag or in a even bigger barrel. The containers actually come off the wall to be refilled so for stores with lots of bulk food it's easier to take the containers out back and full them from a barrel that gets returned to the supplier when its empty but stores with smaller selections come in a 5 kg bag normally and they just get scooped into the container as needed. I've done a bit of time at supermarkets
I'm so jealous that you have a store like that near you! None of the stores in our area sell bulk liquids, and most dry ingredients are impossible to find in bulk as well.
I came across your channel and I immediately subscribed! Quick question where do you live and what store is that because I live in an area where that is not available? I'm interested in starting a zero waste free life and my first step I took was skin care. I hope to continue this journey and watching your channel will encourage me! 😄
Yaneliz Medina I live in New Hampshire, and I have multiple Food Coops nearby, and this is one of them. Thanks for subscribing and good luck on your zero waste journey!
New Hempshire has stores like that? Awesome! That's where i want to move! Can you tell me ..is it easy to find recycle places for glass? The area in the state i live currently cancelled glass recycling in 2015 (i moved to USA in 2016...i was surprised finding out that they care more about money than that).
Angela Gates we have a trader joe too, about 30 min away but the only thing there not packages are the fruit and vegetables. There are no bull buy items there. Where this girl got all her food into her jars, Fred meyer has that same display and winco foods does too but buying food like that is super expensive
@@pennylane36 I have WinCo where I live and the majority of their bulk food section is actually cheaper in my area (AZ). We also have Sprouts here and they're pretty expensive compared to WinCo, or anywhere else really, but even there I think the bulk section is cheaper than the rest of the store.
This is so encouraging, especially for a first-timer; it can be a very threatening environment to walk into and almost make you change your mind for convenience. Great video :)
Aneles, I think little Taylor may have been taught not to be curious and was called a b*tch a lot. Curiosity is what got us a lot of the things we have today. Airplanes, Cars, Cell phones, etc. So, I guess curiosity can be a good thing. :-D
I use small mesh lingerie bags for fruit to keep them all separate and easy to get thru the cashier process quicker. Use painters tape and write down your tare weight on your jars and the price number as well....or even better....if you use mason jars, you can a sharpie on the metal lid part....it washes off easily.
I know this video is old but I have a few tips to share. I noticed you had paper towels in your bag when you left the store. Wrapped in plastic. There are great DIY projects for repurposing old towels and some microfiber to make reusable, washable kitchen cloths and you can store them in a roll if you add snaps. That may help cut down your waste. Also I think you look a lot like Corrinne from threadbanger. Overall loved the video!
I don't think "triggered" is the right word. More like confused, tbh? Zero waste is about environmental impact. The environmental impact of animal agriculture is ridiculous. It's just so rare to see a non-vegan zero waster.
I saw a lot of comments down below judging her for not being a vegan. Honestly, as human beings, you can never consume zero energy, can you? Unless your commit suicide. She’s doing her best and I honestly find it very helpful.
I love sweet potatoes great video...I did a come grocery shopping with me also. I showed the food i used to buy before I got Diabetes and the food I bought to get rid off it.
katie prentice there used to be lots - my Dad used to take me along to our local "scoopamarket" in Edinburgh when I was a kid and I'd have great fun scooping lentils and other dry ingredients. That shop disappeared years ago and I suspect they did everywhere :-( wouldn't it be great if we could get them back?!
I rarely see places like this in the UK which is a shame. We are really behind! Having visited the US a lot I've seen that they have much more zero-waste friendly shops over there
katie prentice I guess these stores are usually smaller than the big supermarkets because they arent as popular, but if you google it you might be able to find a couple of stores in your town where you can buy in bulk (i just found one like 200m away from my apartment)
My mum uses a permanent marker for her jars to write the weight and the item number because it’s usually the same jar. If it’s dark item you can use a grout marking pen or a white out pen. Write on the bottom because you don’t generally have to scrub a jar there and it will last longer. She puts the item number in [brackets] so it’s clear which is which and of course the weight has the short code for it like 372g. She’s been doing this most of my life. 🙂 👍 I have super light net bags at the store for vegetables. That box thing sounds really cool.
I wish I could do this but my parents would throw a fit. I got yelled at and I got a lecture when I told them I wanted to go vegetarian.. I cant imagine what they'd do if I showed them this 😒
Do some math and show how it can save them money. Grains are cheap. You'll be old enough to move out eventually and do things your way. Meanwhile, make your own healthy changes without a discussion about it.
Zero waste is OK. Vegetarian lifestyle can lead to serious nutrient deficiencies if you are not supplementing your nutrients correctly so your parents were right to worry. You are still growing, take advantage of the varied diet to make sure you stay healthy.
Laughing at these people recommending veganism as animal friendly and eco friendly,😂. Spoken like people who have never been on a farm, or done large-scale farming a day in their life. First, the majority of plants are grown with fertilizer made from animal-by-product, ie blood, bones, fish bones, and manure. Organic produce uses twice as much. Unless you know the grower and he specifically grows vegan vegetables (another label😑), you are still consuming an animal fed product. Second, growing produce is just as environmentally taxing as raising animals for slaughter. Tractors and large machinery till the fields, trees and other native plants have to be felled, land has to be graded (leveled), and animals; bugs; birds are killed or removed so they don't eat all the growing plants. That's what pesticides and traps are for. The produce is harvested by hand and large machinery, processed by machinery, packaged, and shipped (ship or vehicles). Most of the produce in stores are from other countries, so more emissions in the shipping. Even local organic produce is trucked to the stores.
Sounds like you haven't heard of veganic farming. It gets rid of those problems. Most plants are grown as feed for animals, who eat a ton of it and end up as much less food themselves. Animal farming is a huge food waster. Any problems you have with plant farming would be reduced by getting rid of animal farming.
There are vegan/vegetarian (theres so many of them Im just calling them Herbivores) from youtube who still end up having cancer and immune deficiencies (most are colon cancer). just last month three of them confessed their condition and worst part is that the battle was half lost because weird allergies prevented them from the effects of medicine, they can hardly regain their strength since the food they eat is "selected" by their digestive system and going back to commercial food is just another mountain to climb.
This is not necessary at all. Lol. This isn't how they produce Vegetables in my country, India. Only animal product used as fertilizer is animal dung. And honestly even if they use those 'waste' animal products it is GOOD for the environment.. those things would be wasted otherwise. Those animals aren't killed to become fertilizer. They are killed to become food for non vegetarian people, and the parts that would be wasted are then used in farming. Which btw is NOT necessary lol. Also when you eat non vegetarian food, your animal first eats grains and food and then you eat that animal. Directly eating those grains is eco friendly. So your whole rant is useless. It will 'convince' only people who feel low key guilty about eating meat, but want to continue eating it so are looking for excuses. Lol. I am not 100% vegan but I don't go around making up useless lies about veganism being bad..vegans are awesome.
I can be very sarcastic but I won't be here. I have a lot of respect for you and the lifestyle that you've chosen, it isn't an easy one. So thank you for saving our planet 1 Step at a Time.
TheRisingSun yeah, blame your choises on other people. I thought you just liked meat and didnt like to die from deficiency. Or felt weak and hungry all the time. But no. It just my annoying nerdiness. Sorry by the way. I didnt mean to
I would love to be able to take my jars to the store and fill them up! So many times I buy bags of stuff and as soon as I get home I open them and put the food in jars. I like to keep a large stock of things so I like to use my foodsaver to seal my jars for longer storage.
Christyne Long Use glass jars that have the rubber seal. You can have the guy at the meat counter subtract out the tare weight and put the price sticker on the jar.
Thanks for the vid - very informative as I've just moved and there's a health food store nearby. I have to check if I can bring my own containers! I won't be able to do as many as you do as I'm walking, but as the store is close I hope to be able to go when needed. I also use the same jars for just about everything so I won't have to weigh each jar - bonus for me!
Loved your video and your zero waste lifestyle 💞 You're doing a great great job! 🤗 Are you considering to go vegan? Not consuming any animal product is the zero waste goal number one 🌱 Love and hugs 💫
Peaches do tend to bruise so try and put heavier fruits on the bottom and then the more delicate ones on top. Bruised peaches dont last as long if you'd like to only buy every once in a while
Why is everyone harassing her about not being a vegan? That kind of behavior is why so many people are annoyed by vegans. She is obviously eating healthy, leaver her alone. Her diet is her decision.
I think you don't know what vegan means
Kotoni Koi I know what vegan means. You can be healthy and eat a little bit of meat and dairy. Veganism is not for everyone. She is not harming you.
Rachel Beals you’re right, she’s not harming her, but she is harming ANIMALS and that is what us “annoying vegans” stand up for. ANIMAL RIGHTS.
earth c, in any case, that is her choice and hers only!
It's great what she's doing as she is reeducing waste but she can't call herself an environmentalist

The problem with grocery shopping is that it is almost impossible to buy foods without packaging.
*enter clichèe name here* _ isn't recycling the packaging a ok though? Just trying to learn and reduce my families footprint myself.
Keeping Up With The Joneses not all packaging is recyclable tho. Like chips or foods that come in plastic bags. But if ur looking to reduce ur waste by avoiding these plastics then u'll be eatting healthier too since most snacks are wrapped in plastic!! :D
Mimi Wong ohh ok. Yea I've been checking out how to reduce my family's footprint so any ideas I pick up are greatly appreciated!
TheRisingSun oh wow that's amazing!!
@@annie-xv3xs
I argue that plants feel pain, too. Just eat your stupid food, drive your fugly car, because nobody gives a damn.
Ananya Ray nah, you could live off grid
yes!! i’m veggie too (and a milk allergen, so i used to be vegan, but i decided to continue eating eggs haha) and nobody should ever feel put down just because other people want something to complain about!! i apologise on behalf of all vegans & veggies 🥺❤️
Could you do a zero waste video shopping somewhere else, like a chain supermarket (Aldi, Kroger, Walmart, Publix..etc) we have nothing like this store where I live.
Cheyenne, what state do you live in?
Shelbizle on TH-cam has some videos shopping at chain super markets if u are still interested
Where do you go grocery shopping? So jealous of your selection!
Wow how awesome is your grocery store. Wish I had one like that here in Australia..
sandy beach not quite as good, but there is a chainstore called The Source in Australia, that's where I get a lot of my snacks, pastas, cooking oil and shampoo plastic free.
I’m morbidly curious for the cost. 🙊🙈😬
In bigger cities are always stores like this.
I live in Australia and wish I had one here too.
me too .. i'm in mexico
I wish there would be more grocery stores like this in the world. It would be amazing if anyone can buy like that
I have a small shop in my city where I buy some unpackaged goods.
I wouldn't think you'd lie, but I'm surprised the store places so much trust
i was thinking the same. How do they trust people?
Angela M , they have security systems plus it shows back to a main computer screen often from the scales.
Ikr I would have thought that they have scales that print a sticker to put on your jar that they can scan at the till
Your grocery store is adorable!
When i see businesses with ethical goals look quiet i feel sad. I fear that they won't last and things would not progress
Relate. I hope we have stores like ths in our place too
You can recycle as much as possible...That helps a Lot.
something then nothing can be helpful, you can use reusable bags instead of plastic:)
Just take it one step at a time - buy some reusable fruit/veggies bags - find lots of them online. Try Etsy.com
I have never seen a store like that. Just looking at organic stuff all over the place feels so good.
I know. where is this?!
Mrs Aye' Ireland
I feel really stupid right now that it never occurred to me to bring a funnel.
Look up "zerowastehome.com" if u don't know where bulk bins are available in your area. They have a search thats really helpful.
I was just about to ask thx
Thank you so much

Just let her be herself. Vegan or not, she's a great person and helps the environment just like you. If she chooses to eat meat that's her decision.
KD Do its relevant because reducing your trash output is just a scrape on the surface if you’re still eating animal products. animal products are the number one producer of greenhouse gases. it’s simply hypocritical to work to reduce your trash output while drinking milk and eating meat.
KC Karasinski it's better than doing nothing though.
You’re not wrong! It just weird to be conscious of something that has a comparatively low impact while not caring about daily actions that cause a HUGE impact.
ICaughtTheSnitch26 exactly lol
Sometimes though the zero waste movement can often be a starting point towards veganism
NOT EVERYBODY WANTS THE VEGAN LIFESTYLE. LEAVE HER ALONE
Dede Ortiz because I like eggs, meat, and dairy...?
Love it! My local zero waste store uses stickers to scan the weight of the jars. I like this way even better!
mine does I'm so excited for my first trip. Do you leave the stickers on for the next time? or does this not work when prices go up?
i don't have a car and i'm vegetarian and i've been making mountains of garbage with packaging. thanks for helping me see the light!
zero waste, the next obsession!
Buy things in bulk (rice, beans, pasta, etc.) and make food from scratch the old fashioned way!
Great video! Looks like an awesome store too. x
ECO BOOST hi.
I'm curious to know how much that would cost!
Laura Nyhus me too!
Why? It wouldn’t be more expensive if that’s what you’re wondering.
SaraFara Because I am curious to the cost. Do you buy all of your food with zero waste? Are you speaking from experience?
olani26 yes! A lot of packaged food costs more because you are paying for the packaging along with the food inside it. In bulk, you skip cost of packaging. I wouldn’t be commenting if it wasn’t from experience.
Emily Jackson I live in California. That’s interesting that it costs more in bulk! That’s totally not helping get people to buy bulk either. Sucks.
Just the sound of the door makes me want to go in! It's so cute and quaint!!
R S but the thing is you don’t have to be anything you don’t want to
R S It is fine that your vegan but don’t harass the girl for not having the same ideals as you.its not your life to impose your morals into nor mine live and let live
@@ololadeadeleye then about the animals? Do they want to die so you can enjoy a four minute meal? Why does live and let live apply to only one species, humans? Why can't the animals who clearly do not want to die and get their babies stolen from them not granted a life? Why?
@@ololadeadeleye are the animals' life your life to impose your values and morals onto?
This is exactly why no one likes vegans. It's her choice. She's doing more than most people. Most people aren't even conscious or give a fuck about the environment. Also the fact that she drives a car doesn't mean she's fake. Not everyone has access to stores like this within close proximity. People need to stop being so judgmental and be thankful she cares enough to be doing this in the first place. I'm not vegan either and I'm happy knowing I'm making a small difference.
Karen Ramone00 Well said 👏👏👏👏
Karen Ramone00 I dont care if u like me or not, we are doing it for the animals, not for easily triggered people with no to zero knowledge about veganism impact.

Kaylynn Rae Yeah! That's a really cool idea. Thanks!
Its fun isnt it? This movement is also makes you spend less money for your groceries and daily needs.
Nobody should feel forced into sudden or dramatic lifestyle changes and it’s disappointing that many vegans don’t accept that.
lyraface I agree!
Omg I love that this video came up! I've been trying to find ways to be more friendly to our environment and this co op is definitely my favorite place to shop. Going zero waste is very much a privilege, especially for those living in or near big cities. Many people don't have access to bulk/zero-waste stores and eco-friendly products are a lot more expensive in the short term which makes them a hard sell to low-income communities
Awesome! We don't have bulk in our local grocery store. Everything is packaged, even most veggies.
Hmm just thinking put your tare weight on jar with permanent marker (the weight of the container stays the same) just saying 😍
Permanent marker actually will wash off of glass jars fairy easily. She could try, but just a little scrubbing would make it come off. She could bring a bunch of the same jar and just know the weight since they are the same.
MWestover right lol the Aries in me kicked. Lol

Genius idea to bring a canning funnel! I love bulk bin shopping - it's cheaper AND better quality

It seems quite costly to shop there.
it can cost more but some items are less.
I’ve worked at two bulk friendly natural food stores....cashiers appreciate people like you! So conscientious! ✨
The grocery store looks so cute
I work at a grocery store, and another tip if your store doesn't have scales all around you can give your cashier an empty container and ask them to zero their scale with the empty container on it!

Just one thought, if 1.3 billion people will start living like U.S. then there would be no place to dump garbage in couple of years in the whole world.
jagadish ranbir , depends on the individuals
@@jessicathompson236 it does depend on the individuals but it isnundeniable that the mass majority of the people who live here in the US fall into these guidelines this person listed
Wynona 7 , a large amount yes but definitely not most.
the United States has gotten pretty bad about disposables. it's ridiculous, but there's a reason behind everything. for one thing, we have different standards than other countries and many lead a fast paced lifestyle and our families are "nuclear"... and there are many other considerations.
This is amazing ! Now I know how to use the machines at the store !!
Living Waste Free What?! I live in NH too and I can't find any of these stores! How do I look them up?!
I too am appalled that recycling is not mandatory by law for every business and residential building. smh
MyuNeptune , where did you move from?
Oh man! I would love to have a grocery store near me like this.
I tried to go zero waste but I was eating a twix and tHrOwInG tHe PaCkAgInG
I tried grocery shopping by using reusable bags for bulk the other day, and the cashier thought i was stealing. Like wow.
I have a store near me like that. Its called trader joes
I'm interested to know what your total grocery bill is..... just out of curiosity.
Taylor lol. Wow.
Jamie Rollo I imagine it is more expensive than large corporation stores.
Taylor You rude
Taylor go away
Aneles, I think little Taylor may have been taught not to be curious and was called a b*tch a lot. Curiosity is what got us a lot of the things we have today. Airplanes, Cars, Cell phones, etc. So, I guess curiosity can be a good thing. :-D
I use small mesh lingerie bags for fruit to keep them all separate and easy to get thru the cashier process quicker. Use painters tape and write down your tare weight on your jars and the price number as well....or even better....if you use mason jars, you can a sharpie on the metal lid part....it washes off easily.
Watch out for the triggered vegans in this comment section
Im taking that as a warning..
Where is this store? I want to move here.
White River Junction, Vermont
Rafh Tzeenj what is the name of it
I can't wait for the day that I can get my own place and go grocery shopping like this
Dear lord, the vegans have been triggered in the comments. Anyways, I loved this video! I wish there were stores like this in my area.
She’s doing her best and I honestly find it very helpful.
where do you live this store is unreal
I love sweet potatoes great video...I did a come grocery shopping with me also. I showed the food i used to buy before I got Diabetes and the food I bought to get rid off it.
Are there any like this in the UK?
katie prentice that's what I was thinking, there is one small shop like this in Brighton where I am from but just wondered if it was expensive
katie prentice there used to be lots - my Dad used to take me along to our local "scoopamarket" in Edinburgh when I was a kid and I'd have great fun scooping lentils and other dry ingredients. That shop disappeared years ago and I suspect they did everywhere :-( wouldn't it be great if we could get them back?!
I rarely see places like this in the UK which is a shame. We are really behind! Having visited the US a lot I've seen that they have much more zero-waste friendly shops over there
katie prentice I guess these stores are usually smaller than the big supermarkets because they arent as popular, but if you google it you might be able to find a couple of stores in your town where you can buy in bulk (i just found one like 200m away from my apartment)
katie prentice there are bulk/waste free stores in a lot of places.
just look it up on Google for your area.
I cant imagine what they'd do if I showed them this 😒
Kristina Terry girl i feel you
Do some math and show how it can save them money. Grains are cheap. You'll be old enough to move out eventually and do things your way. Meanwhile, make your own healthy changes without a discussion about it.
That’s exactly my parents
Zero waste is OK. Vegetarian lifestyle can lead to serious nutrient deficiencies if you are not supplementing your nutrients correctly so your parents were right to worry. You are still growing, take advantage of the varied diet to make sure you stay healthy.
You're awesome! ☺️ I love how organized and down to earth you are 😊kudos to you for being tidy too! Yeah!
Even local organic produce is trucked to the stores.
dreamingfool2 alright mind blown
It's obviously not 100% eco friendly but I would say if u do things a certain way that it can be wayy better for the environment.
There are vegan/vegetarian (theres so many of them Im just calling them Herbivores) from youtube who still end up having cancer and immune deficiencies (most are colon cancer).
just last month three of them confessed their condition and worst part is that the battle was half lost because weird allergies prevented them from the effects of medicine,
they can hardly regain their strength since the food they eat is "selected" by their digestive system and going back to commercial food is just another mountain to climb.
Never seen anywhere that sells food like that it’s so smart! You’d never get more than you needed
$15.99 a pound ffffff
blue neighbourhood I know right. Those kinds of mushrooms are expensive here in New Mexico too. I just think its the mushroom.
They're really light so a bag would weigh like nothing
I can be very sarcastic but I won't be here. I have a lot of respect for you and the lifestyle that you've chosen, it isn't an easy one. So thank you for saving our planet 1 Step at a Time.
The vegans in these comments is why I stopped trying to be vegan.
TheRisingSun yeah, blame your choises on other people. I thought you just liked meat and didnt like to die from deficiency. Or felt weak and hungry all the time. But no. It just my annoying nerdiness. Sorry by the way. I didnt mean to
CyxopyKoBa lmao...what
lmao nothing
Danii H so judgemental, write me when you will have a point of view ti share, lil person.
TheRisingSun , only you can walk your own path, no one can do it for you.
I would love to be able to take my jars to the store and fill them up! So many times I buy bags of stuff and as soon as I get home I open them and put the food in jars. I like to keep a large stock of things so I like to use my foodsaver to seal my jars for longer storage.
Vegans need to chill. Can't even enjoy her meat in peace. Damn.
I live in the midwest there are no stores in my area like this. Also you are saving on waste but not money..those prices are very high.
I have a question, are you vegetarian, or else how do you buy meat? How would a zero waste person buy meat or are they all vegetarian?
Christyne Long Use glass jars that have the rubber seal. You can have the guy at the meat counter subtract out the tare weight and put the price sticker on the jar.
Thanks for the vid - very informative as I've just moved and there's a health food store nearby. I have to check if I can bring my own containers! I won't be able to do as many as you do as I'm walking, but as the store is close I hope to be able to go when needed. I also use the same jars for just about everything so I won't have to weigh each jar - bonus for me!
Loved your video and your zero waste lifestyle 💞 You're doing a great great job! 🤗
Are you considering to go vegan? Not consuming any animal product is the zero waste goal number one 🌱
Love and hugs 💫
This is the first thing I wondered when I was watching this! Going vegan is really a huge part of being zero waste.
I agree!
She doesn't want to. That's why. So get out.
Peaches do tend to bruise so try and put heavier fruits on the bottom and then the more delicate ones on top. Bruised peaches dont last as long if you'd like to only buy every once in a while
