It never occurred to me to strip my Bren MKII mags! Got the takedown button depressed and I'm now only missing the 37 meter internal spring but it's gotta be right here within a 100 mi. radius lol. Most awesome video my friend. And a note, I collected milsurps from every WWI-II belligerent, and that packing grease is a blend called Cosmoline. It's nothing you want in your chamber, breech, rifling, bore, or moving action parts. Birchwood-Casey Gunscrubber cans are the best. Non-flammable, metal friendly, high-pressure/high flow, and cheap. It's a chlorofluorocarbon so ventilate needed, but I buy two cans for every job. Drys fast and liquified the cosmo without much wiping at all. Hoppe's 9 is too expensive and ineffective, gasoline is prone to wood damage, and wiping will take as long as WWI to finish. The ONLY places I leave it are in sealed magazines, closed assemblies like spring channels, and dabbed into any pitting under handguards that can't be reached. Wall hanger? Be liberal. My Bren spring had enough in it to preserve the Belarusian AK reserve. Ay other cosmoline removal suggestions or general oil grades for reassembling and use would be appresiated.
This was so damn useful for helping to clean my Bren Mk2 magazine, you have no idea how difficult it is to find tutorials for cleaning ww2 machine gun magazines lol, thanks!
All the g3 mags in the US are known for being extremely dirty. We usually use dry lube for inside the mags to help protect the brass from corrosion, but I don't know if they have it over there. If you ever want to try shooting rifles, you are more than welcome to try it out in the states. I'll even let you clean one if you want
Have you ever considered playing something like Airsoft? It's similar to paintball but with airsoft bb guns. They look like real firearms and have some of that mechanical satisfaction in the way that they work :) Especially if you get a gas blow back gun.
@@SliceofSpice I definitely recommend trying it out if you get the chance to after lockdown. I've been playing for 7 years. One of the great things about airsoft is how inclusive it is. You get people of all ages, shapes and sizes. If you do fancy giving it a go and want any advice then feel free to give me a message :)
An armed society is a polite society. Free societies, i.e. those that respect individual liberties, are armed societies. I'm an American, and God knows my country has its faults, but being taken over isn't (so far!) one of them. Ditto for Switzerland. I can''t help but notice that the politicians and others in my country who advocate for disarmament are allied with the Chinese Communist Party, which has clearly stated that it "needs" our land to grow food. I also can't help but notice that countries with the strictest anti-firearms laws also have egregious restrictions against free speech and other fundamental individual liberties. I wish people in my ancestral home (several hundred years ago) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the very best.

That nasty greasy stuff looks like cosmoline. If it is it's great for storing/preserving metal, but a pain to clean off.
