Ghosts got an 8.8 which was better than titanfall, second son, little big planet, AC unity, Far Cry 4, and a bunch of other games. And ghosts was SHIT.
I`v been here with IGN since 2008 and let me give you short recap : 2012 : COD Black Ops 2 : 9.3 / 10 Far Cry 3 : 9 / 10 2014 : COD Advanced Warfare : 9.1 /10 Far Cry 4 : 8.5 /10 Am i the only one here who see that IGN don't want to put another FPS game higher then COD,even when Ghost took a 8.8 ,by their paid review knowing its the worst cod ever ,they give TitanFall a close same score as 8.9/10 which is should take 9/10 at least because they don't want to lose thier contarct with Activision. All in all , i am glad i save my 60$ for Far Cry 4 and not wasting it in Advanced warfare ..
We are the few who really got attached to FC3, the story line, the characters and just how it gets us so engaged the game itself. SO BEAUTIFUL. and the soundtrack too..
John Matthew agreed have had little to no problems with unity on my ps4 and have thoroughly enjoyed all the side missions expecially the murder mysteries
This game is literally amazing and I cannot stop playing it... The graphics and gameplay are stunning and fun. More things to do and the animals look absolutely stunning up close seeing the hairs on their body's and everything is so (almost) realistic... Spent hours hours just looking around and enjoying the view

The game gives you less in story but the world is very huge, live [not dead like watchdogs], beautiful and interesting to explore! Since Vaas became a big famous awesome villain in FC3, they tried to pull Pagan a bit like him but awkwardly failed on it... Ubisoft did a great job with him but you will not become a fan of him or anything like that! Far Cry 4 is not a whole complete different experience in Far Cry series yet its an awseome game to play it in your way and spend your time! I would give 8/10!
He is actually nothing like vaas, and I dont think they tried to make like vaas. And I do like him, he is calm type of villain I even would love to side with him.
This actually looks really good and has a fairly large chance of becoming Game of the Year, which isn't saying much since this year has been very barebones and barren. The only three games that I can see going up for Goty are this game, Bayonetta 2, and Smash Wii U. Games like AC Unity, Halo, Watch Dogs, Little Big Planet 3, and CoD Advanced Warfare I don't see making GOTY due to how they really were underwhelming compared to what we thought they would be.

Weak characters? Seriously? I actually started to care for the village of Bhudapang after the first hour if the game, and my fear and hatred towards pagan min slowly increased as he continued terrorizing their people. Decent review overall but honestly this game is so fun and well worth the price.
Uh Amita and Sabal are generic characters and are not really interesting at all to say the least. While Paul, Yuma, Hurk, Willis and Pagan Min are likable. Especially Min. But I literally shouted when it came to Yuma... SPOILER* If you don't know then you should play because of how fast knowing her was... She was just introduced to you in the second half of the game like a badass sitting in a chair. But she was only seen for 2 missions. 2 GODDAMN MISSIONS. Why create a character so nicely done and kill her within a short period of knowing her?! Noore and Paul have the same problem as well.
Agree with the review. For me, campaign story was the weak point in this game. Sabal and Amita as characters where amazing but the rest not so much. Pagan was a topnotch and Ajay Ghale as main protagonist was great. The open world of Far Cry 4 is so beautifull. I think this game deserves a 9/10.
Honestly, I personally love this game and I didn't know what I was getting into when I first played this and I was surprised how beautiful the scenery was. The graphics we're awesome and the physics, I loved the "golden age" Asia feel. Now it's time to see how far cry 5 is which takes place in an opposite location. Also the protagonist was awesome and the story line was probably the best I know so far just because how pegan wasn't actually the bad guy in fact he was my favorite character and I liked his back story. Also the choices you get in the game makes the story different for individuals, and you had to think what your choice was going to be because you can't change your choice I would rate it a much higher rating (more efficient)

am i missing something or does pagan min only show up for about 10 minutes throughout the entire game? i have done about 15 missions so far and the only bit of him (other than the very beginning) were from about two or three radio chat things

All Far Cry 4 needs is gore, guns don't feel like they have a satisfying impact. If a shotgun could take off a limb or a high caliber handgun could blast a dude away, it would feel much more badass. Maybe I'm just sadistic.

Far Cry has the sort of open world that you just love to roam through and explore. It's beautiful to look at and awesome to play. I dont really care much for the main story in open world games like this. Ofcourse the game needs a framing, but i dont get invested in characters or anything. As long as it doesnt annoy me and I can get on with wandering, its all good.

Ubisoft fucked me hard with Unity but at least I am not disappointed in this. Just got the game played about 3 hours and the world is beautiful. Shit I did some crazy sidequests and all the collectibles can keep me busy for a while. I always aim towards 100% completion of my games and let me say this to my fellow gamers. This game is a MUST GET!!
I've only just started today but I'm sad to hear I won't be seeing lots of interesting characters as I go. They started out so well! But I am enjoying the game play, so hopefully that makes it worth while.
There are some interesting (and returning) characters not mentioned in this review. Whilst Ajay isn't that amazing, the other characters around him are pretty good in my opinion.
The gameplay is always the strong point of a far cry game. The story never has been that great. If you beat farcry3 the ending was meh... Both endings.
My main gripe with this game is the near silent protagonist. I don't understand why game devs decide this because having a interesting character makes the game so much better, we could've heard interesting dialogue between ajay and other characters about his views on the civil war and pagan min and made it about his journey, just like far cry 3s Jason or Edward kenway, a interesting character that people can still relate to but is interesting. But no we have a near silent protagonist that is boring and offers no insight about anything or his own views.
Hey me too, I've owned FC3, Blood Dragon & FC4 for YEEEEARS. Never completed any of them, a few days ago I 100% FC3, yesterday I 100% Blood Dragon & now I'm playing FC4, so annoying though when you've started a game multiple times and you have to play through the beginning parts all over again
Who cares about the characters, THIS IS A GAME - It's made to have FUN! If you want characters, go review a Movie or Book! I'm 68 years old and I play games to have FUN, to RELAX and to have FUN!!! I'm not interested in the story, but it does make for something to follow. The FUN in FAR CRY is the play - like, but better then GTA, Far Cry is a Blast, you can explore, fly, drive or walk wherever you want to and see everything in the game and just PLAY, RELAX! This is the ONLY game all year that I look forward to, and it rates a 10 in my Book(as did 3). All games should be Open World! No tunnel path playing for me. Just Saying from an Oldie.
The co-op is fucking incredible, whether or not you like this game really depends on how you play it (just like most sandboxes). I played it by myself at first and wasn't that impressed. Then I started playing with my friend and.. holy shit. This game bumped up to a 10/10 for me. Liberating those big ass outposts with a buddy is the most fun thing I've done in ages
These clips are most likely taken from the new-gen consoles, which probably look better. In fact at this point if your game looks/runs the same on new gen as last gen you might as well delay it, because it's gonna get shat on.

I'm someone who skipped out on Far Cry 3 as I was too busy playing other games (Battlefield, GTA etc)... to someone who's played this game, is it worth the purchase? As FC3 did look amazing and I never experienced it.
I am honestly suprised it was not rated a 9.5 or a little less, the charactters dialougue was interesting, the story had a lot of drive, the side missions were unique and engaging, and the co op is absolutley awesome but ey it is whatever you prefer, good reveiw man keep up the good work ign :)

Future dlc for future quests helping pagan or more back story maybe? (Maybe traveling back through a special thangka to before ishwari ran away)? Fingers crossed!
Ubisoft fucked me hard with Unity but at least I am not disappointed in this. Just got the game played about 3 hours and the world is beautiful. Shit I did some crazy sidequests and all the collectibles can keep me busy for a while. I always aim towards 100% completion of my games and let me say this to my fellow gamers. This game is a MUST GET!!
I've only just started today but I'm sad to hear I won't be seeing lots of interesting characters as I go. They started out so well! But I am enjoying the game play, so hopefully that makes it worth while.
There are some interesting (and returning) characters not mentioned in this review. Whilst Ajay isn't that amazing, the other characters around him are pretty good in my opinion.
The gameplay is always the strong point of a far cry game. The story never has been that great. If you beat farcry3 the ending was meh... Both endings.

Far Cry 5 has better graphics whilst Far Cry 4 has better art direction and world design.
My main gripe with this game is the near silent protagonist. I don't understand why game devs decide this because having a interesting character makes the game so much better, we could've heard interesting dialogue between ajay and other characters about his views on the civil war and pagan min and made it about his journey, just like far cry 3s Jason or Edward kenway, a interesting character that people can still relate to but is interesting. But no we have a near silent protagonist that is boring and offers no insight about anything or his own views.
How's the map editor? (only reason I'll buy the game )

Hey me too, I've owned FC3, Blood Dragon & FC4 for YEEEEARS. Never completed any of them, a few days ago I 100% FC3, yesterday I 100% Blood Dragon & now I'm playing FC4, so annoying though when you've started a game multiple times and you have to play through the beginning parts all over again
Can You make your own maps with vehicles like in farcry 2 though?

Who cares about the characters, THIS IS A GAME - It's made to have FUN! If you want characters, go review a Movie or Book! I'm 68 years old and I play games to have FUN, to RELAX and to have FUN!!! I'm not interested in the story, but it does make for something to follow. The FUN in FAR CRY is the play - like, but better then GTA, Far Cry is a Blast, you can explore, fly, drive or walk wherever you want to and see everything in the game and just PLAY, RELAX! This is the ONLY game all year that I look forward to, and it rates a 10 in my Book(as did 3). All games should be Open World! No tunnel path playing for me. Just Saying from an Oldie.

Far Cry 1 released in 2007 and was developed by Crytech, you're talking about the only one you've played which was 3.
The Shangri La missions were mind blowing for me, because I could understand the language being used. Insane missions.

The co-op is fucking incredible, whether or not you like this game really depends on how you play it (just like most sandboxes). I played it by myself at first and wasn't that impressed. Then I started playing with my friend and.. holy shit. This game bumped up to a 10/10 for me. Liberating those big ass outposts with a buddy is the most fun thing I've done in ages

These clips are most likely taken from the new-gen consoles, which probably look better. In fact at this point if your game looks/runs the same on new gen as last gen you might as well delay it, because it's gonna get shat on.

yes, it's the same engine. Most game franchise today in fact use the same game engine as their predecessors, CoD being the biggest culprit of all.
Xorgmaster The only FPS series that I know that change their engine is Battlefield. They change their engine almost every game haha

I'm someone who skipped out on Far Cry 3 as I was too busy playing other games (Battlefield, GTA etc)... to someone who's played this game, is it worth the purchase? As FC3 did look amazing and I never experienced it.
I am honestly suprised it was not rated a 9.5 or a little less, the charactters dialougue was interesting, the story had a lot of drive, the side missions were unique and engaging, and the co op is absolutley awesome but ey it is whatever you prefer, good reveiw man keep up the good work ign :)
