    Get security stickers for a different company than the one you are actually using. This makes it so that anyone trying to break in will assume the wrong security system. Some of the security systems use different frequencies for the wireless sensors depending on the company so a jammer for one frequency. If they use the wrong jammer, it will be a little safer for you.

      @@iVdWo quite simple really. Eufy will use 1 radio frequency, Arlo will use a different frequency so if someone tried to block the signal so it wouldn’t go off then they would look for the Arlo frequency whilst you actually have eufy. Simple!

    This is one reason why I like my Honeywell system or Vista as it was previously named. They call it smash and grab technology. When you open the door and the alarm starts beeping to disarm, it immediately sends a signal to the alarm company saying someone came in the house. If it does not receive a signal that the alarm was disarmed, it considers that a smash and grab and sends out an alert to the homeowner and police if that's how you had it set up.

    Thanks for this informative video. I’ve been using the Eufy doorbell and cameras at 2 different houses and I really like that there is no subscription required. Recommend not posting the stickers as it advertises the exact system you use and experienced criminals could research exploits for your system. Better to use generic ones instead of the ones provided by your system. I believe the Lock Picking Lawyer was the one who said it. A suggestion would be for them to have the ability to not have it beep and have add on sirens that could be placed outside.

    I have the Eufy Homebase 2, keypad, a bunch of motion sensors, door entry sensors, 7 Homebase linked 2C Pro outdoor cameras, and 7 indoor cams and another 2 solo cams. I arm my system from the mobile app only, because I don't trust (and don't use) the arming and disarming delays. I've also turned off the Homebase "alarm off" button and have set all my outdoor cameras to also alarm as well at the same time using automation. I have zero problems using the app only method. I also UPS power back up my internet gigabit modem, wifi 6+ routers (I have two to ensure smooth wireless service and optimal latency), two indoor solocams modified for use as window monitors for the front door and driveway. So even in the event of a power outage, my alarm will continue to work. There are simple and inexpensive things you can do to mitigate Eufy shortcomings. Overall, I've found the minimal shortcomings aren't a deal breaker, which is why I've continued to expand in this ecosystem and have moved up to the Homebase 3, pending delivery. It should support my existing security system, sans the solocams. My biggest and only major grievances with Eufy are the loudness of the Homebase 2 (no way to make it louder) and the lack of cellular backup. I guess you could solve the cellular issue with a simple LTE/5G hotspot device from the carrier of your choice, and then setting the Homebase 2 to wifi mode as a backup. But wifi mode isn't supported on the Homebase 3--it's all ethernet.

  • @wldott
    @wldott 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    They fix it by putting a backup battery and dedicated cellular reporting device inside of a base station model for people that are serious about security. Currently you could either unplug the power or Ethernet and stop reporting of the alarm.

    Good review! I love Eufy cameras, but I suggest Abode Alarm solutions over anything else for Home Alarm! Abode offers many sensors and automation from Door Entry, Thermal sensors, Water detection, Glass break, and Cameras, outdoor alarms, and indoor alarms. For home automation solutions, Abode is a more adaptable ecosystem for security and automation. Both Eufy and Abode are great at what they do! The best part of having two independent systems is they are independent; the bad part is that you need to manage two apps! I am working on integrating Eufy and Abode into Google Home.

    I'd recommend mounting your door camera higher, out of arms reach. At that level, they could hit the reset button, and take the camera and you just lost all that footage. I'd also recommend hardening your doorframes so they aren't easily broken into with a kick. That gives you more time to respond accordingly if you are home, or more time for first responders before they could actually enter the premises. Time buys you options, whether you are home or not....

    • @DoItYourselfDad

      I have higher cameras, to get to this one they’ve passed two others. The give and take with mounting cameras high is security over camera angle. I think if the base station was enclosed in a cabinet with a lock, then it be harder for the intruder to get access too, providing it doesn't affect it connecting to devices, I think also Eufy need an external alarm red light with siren, the siren on base station isn't very loud either, but I think siren outside, would be better than inside, as it would give you enough time to ring police and then hopefully catch the culprit as really, the siren just lets them know, its been set off and in turn, you be notified regardless

    I've been reading a lot of reviews that say the alarm on the base station wouldn't scare a mouse!
    And they say it only rings for 30 seconds before turning off.
    Some people say you can set it to ring until you turn it off manually from the app.
    Neither situation is good for me. I want an alarm that is loud enough for the neighbours to hear (like a smoke alarm/detector) and that i can set how long it rings for.
    30 secs is not long enough to scare a theif from inside your house. And if i miss the notification on my phone the alarm could ring for 30-60 mins with the front door to the house potentially wide open - who knows who will come snooping in your house if they see that.
    I need a motion sensing alarm that you can set to ring for 2-3 mins before automatically turning itself off.
    I know you can make it so that your Eufy outdoor camera sirens go off when the HomeBase siren does - but i don't want outdoor sirens going off - just a loud indoor one. Also apparently you need four cameras outside to make enough noise to scare a robber away - too expensive.
    Going to buy 2 Ring cameras for outside and a Swann motion sensing alarm for inside (i think - need to suss out the Swann alarm but i think you can set how long it rings for).
    I'm in Australia and the Ring 5 piece alarm kit is not available here. Can get it sent from USA but i need it before i go away this Xmas holidays! (it won't get here in time and i don't have any more time to research alarms!). Will probably buy the Swann alarm and look into the Ring alarm in future.

      I switched because I had the older SimpliSafe system. When they switched to the new system they stopped supporting their old system. I had a CO detector fail and the only solution was to spend hundreds of dollars converting the entire system over to the new one. They offered no help, no assistance, no discount despite my paying for their service for 5 years.
      Since I already had Eufy cameras, door lock, doorbell etc it made more sense to me to switch the whole system over to Eufy so it would all integrate. I've been very happy with the system.

    Here I am a year later and I just set up my house with the Homebase3, 5 outdoor Camp's a garage door cam and sensor and finally the dual camera doorbell. As far as I can tell the alarm sound still only comes from the homebase3. I am interested in getting the keypad you demonstrated here but I'm trying to find out if it will be able to switch my whole system, cameras and all between home and away. My wife sometimes takes our dog out back at night and I would like her to have available the keypad so she could throw in her code and go out into the backyard without setting off the 2 cameras back there and the alarm on me Homebase 3. If you know the answer I sure would appreciate a response. Thank you for the very well done video and really good information.

      Depends on how you setup up the 2 modes on the keyapd and what modes those 2 setups arm. My home mode sends notifications from only 2 external cameras, the other cameras dont trigger in home mode. Setup each camera according to the mode you want it to act on.

  • @bv9735

    I too have the Eufy cameras and am wanting to add the alarm keypad and sensors. Does anyone know what happens if it’s armed and you come home and the WiFi has dropped out. Do you have issues trying to disarm the system if the homebase is offline?

    • @bv9735
      @bv9735 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also if you allow the cameras to sound as well as the homebase when the alarm is triggered, if you pull out the homebase, would the external cameras still go off as sirens? I’m guessing not since the homebase controls the cameras. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    As alert eufy is a soft system a burglar is not scared of! Burglar can switch the alarm off simply by unplug the homebase power plug. The homebase give a little beep so the burglar know were to find it to switch power off. If the Eufy system manage to give an alert sound this sound is inhouse and this sound (beep) is very low. So no one will hear the alarm sound outside the house! 😳
    If you also got the Eufy cameras these give also a very low (soft) beep sound and also only for the time this camer see a person (movement). The mostly give an alert sound only for 5 seconds! More Eufy cameras can not sound the alert together by any alert trigger in the Eufy system and the homebase can not set also the alert sound of the cameras when an alert is triggert. Linking all cameras and homebase(s) so that they sound an alarm together is easy to program and is a missed opportunity from makers the Eufy system.
    Alll in all not a good system for scaring away burglars. An external loud alarm / siren device is missing from the Eufy program and

    Eufy products are excellent BUT Not designed in an intelligent way.
    For example, the footage from Doorbell should be recorded in Another Stealth recording device, DEFINITELY not inside the Chime or HomeBase.
    Because thief can press the bell and locate the Chime and take the SDCard 😁
    Then in the Home Alarm Kit, The Alarm Box should be water resistant & battery operated, separate & can mounted on the TOP OF THE HOME OUTSIDE the Home or in an IRON BAR CAZE inside the Home, so Burgers will need Ladder to take it off, or will need a IRON cutter & it will awake the Whole Neighbourhood by then.
    Eufy engineers & designer should look into this & redesign. BURGLERS ARE CLEVER & THEY KNOWS HOW THESE DOORBELL AND ALARM WORKS.
