    The haze is slowly clearing from my 5 week DPDR episode. I have never experienced this before in my life, but as a heavy heavy daily cannabis user for over 6+ years, on top of extreme anxiety and panic lying dormant in me- I’m starting to piece together what may have happened. I didn’t have a bad experience on cannabis, I had some strange flu bug that made me start feeling super sick and I fixated that I was dying- feeling my paranoia heighten each time I would smoke. Last week, I started getting full blown disassociating panic attacks. I am about to go on my 6th day sober, utilizing CBD. I am so glad there is a resource like you out here.
    Today I had a bad DPDR attack after not feeling it for a few days, and for some reason, I found a lot of peace in seeing it come and go after being gone. Like, understanding that it’s a piece of me that I need to love and fix.
    I feel like I vented a lot, but, it felt good.

  • @ChadKirk

    It has to do with you being in your head. I find that I slip back into DPDR when I’m trying to do too much. Instead of doing what you actually naturally want to do, I do what I SHOULD do or what I think I should do which leads me to overextending myself and that’s when I slip in.

      Can relate. I've got a very intense period in my work right now where I'm carrying a lot of responsibillity. It makes me feel I'm more in my head and I get very fatigued every workday. Sometimes I have to stay home one day to recover a bit.
      Hope you are doing well!

    • @coachjordanhardgrave
      @coachjordanhardgrave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Over extending ones self is for sure something to avoid. That’s why in my S5 method one of the S’s is “setting boundaries”. Specifically setting boundaries that prevent fatigue. Because once fatigue hits, it begins to signal to the nervous system that one is having trouble fleeing from a tiger, and thus Dpdr can begin to kick in at the point of exhaustion because the brain things the person is about to get eaten.

    Sometimes my dpdr would cause me such horror that i would feel like fainting. I felt like i was one stimuli away from epilepsy, i felt like reality was breaking down, i saw things that were part of my imagination, i felt like i was possesed by a demon, i felt sick, i felt a strong sense of doom a strong sense of abandonment.

      And also refused to just "breathe" because it sounded so stupid.
      MY ENTIRE WORLD is crumbling, EXISTENCE itself seems to stop making sense, GOD has abandoned us, and you are asking me to breathe? "Bro there are more important things going on right now" is said to myself. But for the first time I stopped to just fucking breathe and it was almost comedic, i literally just went "huh.. I’d just like some input, I first had dpdr when I was 17, gradually got better over the course of 3 months. Went 2 years without any problems or encounters of it. Then recently was in a stressful event and snapped back into dpdr. This time around it seems to be more intense and longer lasting. I’ve had it for 2 an half months so far and I’m still in the depths of it and have seen no improvement, if anything it’s worse and I cant stop worrying and obsessing about it. Is there anyone who shares the same experience where it was a piece of cake to recover the first time compared to the second time? Now i ve been thinking about all the times that i experienced some episodes of dp dr (only lasted a few minutes and never paid attention to them because they weren t that intense, it was just a change in perception) and i remember that in nearly all of them I drunk coke or coffee while being stressed by a significant event. Now i recovered from anxiety induced dp dr, but i m trying to find all the things that may trigger it again. I got rid of anxiety, depression, but i m afraid that once i will eat sweets as before it may come back. I don t drink caffeinated drinks anymore, but caffeine is present also in chocolate, cakes and many more. I researched that subject a lot and caffeine increases adrenaline and cortisol in the brain, inducing the fight or flight reaction and dp dr sensations. Eating chocolate and sweets that contain cocoa can bring it back? It s hard to avoid them and I also crave them a lot..

      Hey! Caffeine is a sympathetic nervous system stimulant. It for sure increases stress. But that’s not a problem as long as someone is not very stressed out otherwise. Mild levels of sympathetic nervous system activation enhance performance up until the point of fatigue, then good stress turns into bad stress (distress) and that’s when anxiety/panic, and eventually kick in.

      I used to have tbis badly when I first got dpdr and now and again I get moments of it, but it's impossible. If you're scared of being schizophrenic then u aren't because if you were you wouldn't be aware of it at first. It's impossible for dpdr to cause schizophrenia
