ive only finished watching put on a happy face, but i must say this is one of the best bye bye birdie productions ive seen, really quite remarkable. Especially Albert ive noticed has no lack of energy or emtion. Really very good. Also I must say for quite a small cast telephone hour was amazing, despite not many people I felt that one more energetic, and expressive than huge casts. I have never heard of this place (group?) But truly phenomenal job.When I saw the first few minutes of this video I thought it was going to be some low quality, low budget production, but no. It does scream low budget, however even louder it explodes with quality, truly amazing. Love it.
Thanks for the comment. Lucky to be in New York City and have a great pool of talent to cast from. Nobody gets paid, true community theater. Budget is always and issue and we try to make up for it creative staging and love of theater our cast brings to the stage. Thank you Mallory. As the director I tried to do a few things different with Kim as you can see in "How Lovely To Be A Women" and not do the regular change of clothe staging. I had a very talented cast to work with. With out giving too much away in public what city are you doing this in? You can see some of the same cast in our production of "Curtains" we just finished. This was my first time watching the entire show through. You guys have such a wonderful cast! I had a sheepish grin on my face whenever Harry McAfee was on stage, he was so funny!
No, just a bit of stage business.The women playing Mrs. MacAfee has a great voice that could not fully be appreciate here. Check her out in Carousel singing "Mr. Snow" on this channel also.

Just think of some celebrity that you also admire very much and would do anything to meet and he or she is going to stay in your house. Also, what I tell all my actors is have fun. If you have fun so will the audience.
Hi there!! I absolutely love this production. My school is planning on putting on the show, and I'm not sure who I should audition for yet. I talked to my director, and they asked me to sing Kim's opening song, "How Lovely to be a Woman." Any tips?

Why isn't she singing "Mrs. Phi Beta Kappa Peterson"? She's not saying "Phi" part. Why? I thought it was just a mistake once, but she did the second time, too.
She had a bad cold when this was recorded. You can see her coughing through it and couldn't hit the note so she mouthed as not to crack. As the show went on she kept drinking hot tea and it got better but to this day she has not watched the video due to not being up to her standards and other performances.
It was not in the show. It was added for the movie. As a matter fact it was 6 months after shooting has completed and they brought Ann Margaret back to add it. Many community shows add the song back in but I wanted to be true to how it was done originally on Broadway. (Jay Fink)
@@stjeansplayers this production was incredibly enjoyable thank you it seems to me that from what I have seen is all the productions of the stage play musical are different even in terms of the songs included this seemed be the most complete
@@rocket767 Hi, thanks for the comment. You might be comparing JR. productions. A lot of shows have JR productions for young people and some songs are cut. Or you might be use to seeing movie versions which many times have dropped songs or even wrote new ones for the movie. Yes, Kim is a soprano but but the rest of the girls parts have full range of parts. The 2 girls in "One Boy" are sopranos also. But a great show for girls to play. The teen girls in this show range from 16 to 30 years old by the way. Are you interested in theater?
